Ahh, Jo! Why must you tempt me with your eagle eye for fashion finds and awesome splurges? Isn’t her new Balenciaga to cry for? The color…ahhh, the color is so bright and brilliant, like a little piece of cobalt sunshine in an otherwise dreary day. The picture does not do it justice. I was going to post a photo of Jo and I side by side, since we both wore striped shirts that day, but I will let you focus on the beautiful bag instead. Supple, supple leather heaven.
What I Wore: See Spot Run
This weekend was a bit of a write-off. With Canada playing Team USA, there couldn’t possibly be anything else on the agenda. So I woke up late, had brunch at Fran’s, spotted and snapped a photo of a girl wearing a leopard print coat, looking very cute (pics coming soon), and made Churros for le boyfriend and I (drenched in banana dulce de leche!). All in all sort of a semi-blah weekend, except for THE game, of course. And despite all this do-nothing-ness, I am still tired and semi-conscious this morning. Why, oh why, must Mondays be so gruelling?
PS. Renaming this section into “What I Wore” instead of “What I’m Wearing”…the grammar of it has been bugging me for a while, and I am finally changing it. Hooray for being grammatically correct!
Organic Style: Amy
Given that I’m cooped up at the office 9-5 five days a week, I am always on the look-out for interesting (aka anti-boring) work outfits. Today I spotted Amy, looking cute (but not cutesy) in her silky, creamy, floral skirt. Love how she paired the breezy blouse with the fuller skirt! The round toe shoes ground the outfit a bit, making it a little more serious, while the golden pendant adds some sass. Grown up florals at work? Yes, please!
European Style: Paris
It’s been almost 2 months since my trip, and I still haven’t posted the pics…Who’s bad? All I have to say in my defense is that pictures take forever to format and upload and I had so many other things to catch up on! Well, I finally got around to it, and the first batch is here.
When I went to Paris last year, the trend that a lot of Parisian women were rocking were the MC Hammer pants…this year it was the Boyfriend Blazer. I am always amazed at the ease with which European girls (and guys) pull off their outfits. Very nonchalant, yet you know that effort was put forth. Love! So here’s a little glimpse into the style on the streets of Paris from my (stalker-like) perspective. Krakow post is coming soon (fingers crossed).
Update: I just realized that I didn’t take any photos of women wearing boyfriend blazers! I think I was too busy pointing them out to my boyfriend as a growing trend, instead of pulling out my camera and shooting away. Oh well…I guess you’ll just have to take my word for it. They were everywhere!
More pics after the jump!
Organic Style: Charlyn and Crisell
I love the way Charlyn and Crisell are wearing their cutoffs! It sort of says “this summer sucks, but I will still wear shorts, gdammit!”…Both girls are wearing them in sort of a transitional way. Totally wearable for Fall if paired with tights! Love the layering, looooove the laced up ankle boots, and once again love the accessories. And in case you were wondering, turquoise is still my favorite rock! Yes, indeedy!
Love your style, girls! Cute and quirky and fun!
Organic Style: Joseph
I think guys don’t get enough credit for dressing well! Considering that so many of them here, in North America, look like they pick up whatever is lying on their bedroom floor in the morning and then pile it on randomly, those with style should definitely be rewarded for their smart choices! Like guys in Europe. Guys in Europe are perfection! They dress…effortlessly, yet grown up (post on Euro style is coming soon, I promise!). And to me, Joseph here is the very embodiment of European style in his navy blue suit, pocket square and all. Perfect fit, great accessories, and a mega-watt smile…all that’s missing is a Vespa. Guys, take notice!
Organic Style: Rain
Love stripes! Always have, always will. Want Rain’s Comme des Garçons cardi. Cuteness!
Organic Style: Taylor and Victoria
First of all, I want to apologize to the girls for not remembering which name belongs to which girl. As usual, carrying a million things in my hands, I never have enough time or limbs to write everything down.
With that out of the way, the first thing that caught my eye about these triplet (they also have a brother) sisters is Taylor’s (?) tucked in menswear inspired oversize striped shirt. I just love how effortlessly cool it looks with a pair of light denim shorts. It’s one of my all time favorite looks! Clean and simple. Her bag was pretty amazing also…can’t really see it here though. My bad. What you can see though, is her cool ring that she got in Egypt (lucky girl). Again, I am a sucker for all things turquoise…and for me, this just adds the element of unexpected to her otherwise all-American look.
Victoria’s outfit is equally chic, combining a white cotton peasant blouse with slim-ish cuffed black pants, and of course those awesome ruffled sandals from Zara! Love, love, love! And her grey bag is not too matchy-matchy, yet still is in keeping with the overall tone of the outfit. Absolutely adore the chain necklace with tassels (they are going to be everywhere this Fall)! I think it toughens up her airy top.
I wonder what these two fashionistas have got in their Zara bags?
Organic Style: Anisha
Today’s paper said that this year’s Taste of the Danforth had the highest attendance in the history of the festival. I find it a little strange, since the weather was so ugly the whole weekend.
I went, of course, but got soaked, and even my food got rained on (soggy lamb is not a way to go)! So when I spotted Anisha walking down the street, I had to stop her for a picture! Her outfit was so fun and colorful – a perfect antidote to bad weather! Love the pop of red, love the way she wore her tunic a little off the shoulder, and also love her curls! Cute, casual, chic!
Organic Style: Amanda
Rompers and jumpsuits had their comeback this summer. For a bit, I’ve dallied with an idea of getting one, but at then end of the day chickened out came to my senses and decided against it. Unfortunately, I’m not one of those lucky few that can pull one off. Amanda here is much braver than I am! Her outfit reminded me of a girl I saw in Paris this summer, that wore something similar, but in my opinion was not able to pull it off (pics to come). I think Amanda’s height, and the fact that she is a skinny-minny, lets her get away with wearing this jumpsuit without looking, well, ridiculous. I’d add a funky belt to this outfit, to define the waist, but other than that, I think her oufit is tres cute! Love the turquoise heels! Great way to add an unexpected pop of color!
