The Row Spring 2010 Lookbook

25 November, 2009 Nelia

the-row-spring-2010-9

The economy is still shaky, and it appears that the Olsen twins are very cognisant of it. Why else would they include painted on tees and socks as part of their The Row lookbook? And it makes sense, doesn’t it? Low on cash? No problem, just paint that shirt with some body paint/mud/markers and you’re good to go!

Love the red leather pencil skirt, but not craving anything else really. Though with different styling a lot of the basic pieces below will surely look much more appealing. Just not with mud and straw. Not for me.

H&M Menswear Spring 2010 Lookbook

24 November, 2009 Nelia

hm mens spring 2010

Spring 2010 lookbook promises skirts, fringe, embellishments, pink scarves, multi-color patterns…No, I’m not talking about womenswear, silly! If you didn’t think that women’s line was anything to write home about, the menswear lookbook is definitely trying to push the envelope. As a newly converted omni-shopper, I look at the H&M Spring 2010 Menswear Lookbook, trying to find pieces wearable by moi. And so far, it’s pretty promising. Loving the colorful scarves, the leather camel-colored jacket is fab, and the feather t-shirt would look awesome with leggings. But the styling of this lookbook is just “meh” for me, but then again…what do I know? Are you loving any of the looks/pieces or is it just too much?

H&M Spring 2010 Lookbook

24 November, 2009 Nelia

hm-womens-spring-2010-4

Fashion is a funny thing. It’s not even winter yet, and here I am looking forward to all the beautiful spring clothes I’ll be buying soon…ish. H&M Spring 2010 Lookbook has surfaced, and so far so good. There are many pieces that I would be happy to add to my wardrobe (like the jacket above), and a few that perhaps I need to warm up to. Either way, here’s some escapist photos, that will hopefully take your minds off the dreary weather outside your windows and take you to a happy place smack dab in the middle of May. Enjoy!

Caroline Hedaya Spring 2010 Lookbook

I was never a fan, but I’m loving Caroline Hedaya’s Spring 2010 Lookbook! That white dress with cutouts and the cropped lace top are on my must-have list for Spring! Amazing! Can we just skip winter and go directly to Spring? Not looking forward to the slush. At all.

Complex Geometries Spring 2010 Lookbook

Have you seen it yet? If you haven’t, then you must! The Complex Geometries Spring 2010 Lookbook, shot by the fellow Canadian Tommy Ton is here! And it’s nothing short of inspirational! At least to me.

Love everything. Scratch that. I love everything on the female model. Not digging the male model’s looks, but to each their own. Love the colors, the draping, the complex geometries paired with such simple colors. I think I’d wear these looks every single day if I could. It all looks so…comfortable. I really need more of these clothes in my life! Though I really can’t complain right now. Because so far it’s been a great day: won Body Shop goodies on www.beautyparler.ca, Johnny Depp is Sexiest Beast Alive, year-end work review was positive, it’s sunny outside, and now this…

Louise Goldin for Topshop

If you needed another reason to resent Topshop for not having a store in Canada, here’s one. These Louise Goldin pumps are designed exclusively for Topshop and are to die for! So tough, and yet so sexy! I really want need a pair! If only there was a store in Toronto, then my chances of actually owning a pair would be much greater! Santa, if you hear me, I am a size 8.5!

Style Fille: Camilla Belle

Camilla Belle

Ok, I am not a fan of Camilla Belle’s acting. Could never get interested in her movies, and judging by the way her movies do at the box-office, I am not the only one. But I’d be blind and idiotic, not to admit that the girl is gorgeous! The eyebrows, the face, the hair – she is definitely one of the better-looking girls in the business. And though I haven’t loved her style before (too cookie cutter-ish), I couldn’t help but do a double-take at recent photos of her, wearing Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 dress and clutch! Definitely eye-catching. This look is fresh, fabulous, and fun. As well as very age-appropriate! Way to get noticed, Camilla!

LG Fashion Week: David Dixon

Was so happy to have made it to the David Dixon show last week! Did not really have any kind of expectations, and as a result really loved a lot of the pieces. Dixon’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection inspired by the “Hanging Gardens of Babylon” was flowy, feminine, and fun! And since Al managed to snag two second row seats, we had a prime view of the collection! Loved the lime green cocktail dresses and the silky skirts all would look amazing at wedding receptions! See, I still can’t stop thinking about what to wear to the January wedding of my friend! Well, if Dixon’s designs will be available before January (unlikely, but one can hope), I’ll definitely be trying them on as one of the alternatives!

So to finish off, I really liked David Dixon’s signature collection. Even loved some of the pieces. Dresses were definitely my style, modern and flirty. Plus, to me it was one of the stronger collections this year – less theatrics, and more focus on the actual clothes. Andy Thê-Anh is still my favorite Canadian designer, but David Dixon just became a close second!

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2010

Paris Fashion Week wraps up tomorrow, but I am too anxious to wait, so I’ll give you my faves today! Oh, Paris, how I love thee! So many amazing designers, so many beautiful creations…oh, how I wish I was there. I’ve been to Paris a few times now, and every time I find something different, something new to love about the city of light. And as far as fashion weeks go, this one is my favorite, hands down.

PFW3

Above from left to right: Christian Dior, Balmain, Nina Ricci

Again, I’m not sure if it’s because I am trying to see it, or if it really is an upcoming trend, but I am seeing nudes everywhere! But this being the Spring 2010 fashion week, there was plenty of color too! My favorite yellow at Stella McCartney, aqua at Viktor & Rolf, Kenzo, and McQueen, gorgeous red at Lanvin, orange at John Galliano, and many others.

PFW2

And while I love me some Chanel, I wasn’t very impressed with anything from the spring collection this time around (or maybe it’s the clogs), so I am not including it in the highlights lineup. The collection I am definitely including is Alexander McQueen! Just look at the details! It’s underworld meets bug’s life! The fabrics, the shapes, the shoes, the hair! I couldn’t pick one, I love it all!

mcqueen

And while, others are showering Louis Vuitton’s collection with praise, to me…I just didn’t get it. More clogs, furry tails hanging off shoes, mish-mash of shapes and patterns. Not my cup of tea. And seriously, are you kidding me with this…are clogs really going to be in this coming spring??? I, for one, will never ever wear clogs! This is a promise. There’s far too many beautiful shoes out there to waste my time wearing something so ugly!

lv clogs

So c’est tout for Paris Fashion Week Spring 2010. I’m feeling a little sad to have to wait until the Resort collections will be released, but I think we had a great run with all these amazing clothes from London, New York, Paris, Milan…I guess we all can start making our wish lists for spring!
