Quebec outerwear darlings Mackage showed their Fall 2012 collection to a packed house in the Distillery District last week. With Calgary-born supermodel Heather Marks headlining the show, and Rico The Zombie (of Lady Gaga fame) walking the runway, there were plenty of memorable moments to recount, but the strongest point of the collection (and the main draw for the crowd) remained the brand’s outerwear.
For someone who’s been obsessed with mixed leather for 2 years now, I was happy to note a few leather-sleeved coats that are now definitely on my wishlist for next fall. Other coat embellishments included fur, shearling, knit, and snakeskin, mostly in black, with pops of color here and there. “What’s different this season is that we have red and we never really have pops of colour,” shared Elisa Dahan with Flare Mag. “Based on our inspiration, the circus, the idea of red just fit perfectly. Especially against black. A lipstick red coat is a statement piece worth investing in.”
With a mix of style and function, Mackage Fall 2012 collection was chock-full of covetable outerwear styles, perfect for Canadian winters. Now, how do I get my grabby paws on that amazing shearling peacoat?
