When LOULOU Magazine invited me to participate in the Clinique Face Forward campaign as part of their #LLSelfieCrew, I was ecstatic. I’ve always been a fan of Clinique, and have used (and loved) several products in the past. In recent years, however, I’ve been desperately trying anything and everything to calm my sensitive skin, with various degrees of success. After taking an assessment test on clinique.ca/face-forward, I was recommended products from the brand’s Moisture Surge and Redness Solutions lines.
As you may know already, I’ve been diagnosed with rosacea, and have been struggling with breakouts, redness, dryness, and general discomfort. I haven’t felt like I’ve been putting my best #FaceForward for a while, so this collaboration could not have come at a better time.

After trying out several products recommended to me, I fell in love with a few: Moisture Surge Overnight Mask is my new HG! I apply it at night as the last step of my routine, and wake up with dewy, lovely skin. It boosts my skin’s moisture levels, making flaky patches disappear. I also haven’t had a bad reaction to this product, despite my sensitive skin, which is a definite win.
Another product I love is Redness Solutions Soothing Cleanser. This non-drying cream/gel is awesome at removing all traces of makeup, while keeping redness at bay. It also offers mild exfoliation to get rid of those dead skin cells.
I’ve also started using Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Protective Base Broad Spectrum SPF 15. My dermatologist was very adamant that sun protection for people with rosacea is a must, and while this oil-free makeup primer doesn’t actually feel like sunscreen, it still adds that protective step to my routine. Bonus points for the sheer green tint – once in a while I wear it instead of foundation since it helps neutralize any redness.
The #FaceForward program asks people to make a promise to the future and put it out there. My promise to my future self would be to love and take care of the skin I’m in – because, no matter the challenges, it’s the only one I’ve got, and with a little TLC and proper care, it can be lovely.
What would yours be? Share your promise to the future, using #FaceForward, and see what other women promise to their future selves.
