What I Wore: In the Buff

21 June, 2012 Nelia

Palm trees, sandy beaches, sunshine, yummy food and sangria…just a few things I miss about Barcelona. I also must admit that I kind of miss seeing all the nudists first thing in the morning, while making our way to the subway. After a couple of days, le bf and I turned it into a game of “I spy”. As in “I spy two old men talking to each other, one not wearing anything, and the other one in a speedo”…or “I spy a family (mom, dad, and kid)…all in the buff, playing in the sand”…or…well, you get the point.

But despite the entertainment value of nudity…obviously, I chose to wear clothes instead. For one, I can’t get enough of this Club Monaco maxi skirt…light, breezy, billowy…it feels like nothing when it’s on! Paired with a loose tank – it’s my go-to outfit this summer. In case you haven’t noticed, my new Tory Burch bag saw a ton of action on my vacation too. Who knew that orange goes so well with everything?

And there you have it…an outfit that feels as comfy as being naked, without looking it. What’s your go-to outfit for hot and sticky summer days? Share in the comments.

What I Wore: Into The Blue

20 June, 2012 Nelia

Looking through the images from our honeymoon, I can’t help but wish I was back in beautiful Barcelona, strolling down La Rambla, indulging in delicious tapas, and drinking sangria under the hot Spanish sun. Below is a selection of photos from one of those lovely days spent enjoying Barcelona, and discovering its many hidden (and not so hidden) gems. Enjoy!

What I Wore: The Beach

12 June, 2012 Nelia

Speaking of awesome Prada deals and The Mall…This beach-print dress was an awesome last size find that I picked up from the Prada outlet near The Mall. As I always say…when it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be.

While on our honeymoon in Barcelona, le bf got a great idea of shooting this dress on the beach…with people suntanning in the background to match the print of my dress. And so we did. My new Chanel stunners were also brought out of their precious box for some sand and surf. Not literally, of course.

And though we probably should’ve shot this a bit later in the afternoon when the beach was more packed with people, I didn’t want to risk having some old naked grandpa parading his goodies in one of my photos, slipping in unnoticed on my blog. Seriously, I saw so many old naked men and women on my honeymoon…I might be traumatized for life.

So there you have it, my outlet find, my new Chanel treasures, a touch of H&M…and me, realizing just how much I miss Barcelona.

What I Wore: Park Güell

7 June, 2012 Nelia

When le bf and I got to Barcelona, the first place we’ve decided to pay a visit to was Park Güell – a beautiful garden complex on the hill of El Carmel, designed by Antoni Gaudi. For the ANTM addicts among you, this park would look very familiar, as one of ANTM’s runway shows was held in the haunting colonnaded pathways under the viaduct at the park.

To get to the park, we took the subway to the closest station, and then had to take a couple of escalators, as well as hike up a couple of hills to get to the entrance of the park. All in 30 degree heat. Needless to say, once we made it up, we chose to stay firmly put in the much-needed shade of the colonnaded pathways, trying to find a moment to shoot some outfit photos without any tourists in the background. As you can see, we didn’t succeed.

It was my first time at Park Güell, but it certainly won’t be my last. The park is full of unexpected gems, beautiful tiled mosaics, and other surprises all over the place. I am sure you could spend hours hiking and exploring without getting bored! Although, I’d recommend to go as early in the morning as possible, to avoid the crowds and the heat.
