What I Wore: In The County

8 September, 2016 Nelia

One more outfit post from our amazing getaway to Prince Edward County with Lincoln MKZ. On our final night, I got all dolled up for dinner with le bf, only to end the night barefoot and playing ping pong outside of the Drake Devonshire. My feet were black when we got back to the room. Sorry for that visual. But that probably describes PEC the best – there’s the quiet luxury of places like Drake Devonshire, coupled with homey comfort of various Inns, local ice-cream parlours, and beach shacks. It truly has become one of my favourite Ontario getaways and I hope we can return as soon as possible.

What I Wore: Similar, But Different

29 June, 2016 Nelia

You may have noticed that I’ve been wearing a lot of white dresses lately…which means I’m either in a rut or I’m obsessed with LWDs this summer. Let’s go with the latter. In my defense, all three dresses I recently wore are very different – the first one is worn off-the-shoulder and has long sleeves, the second is a breezy t-shirt dress with lace, while this one is a cami-style maxi. Similar, but different.

I guess, since the weather has been so beautiful lately, a crisp white dress feels appropriate and almost necessary. I wear these dresses with cute sandals for dressier occasions, with white sneakers (I’m partial to Stan Smiths) for casual strolls, and with ankle booties if the other two shoe styles feel a bit “been there”. Regardless of what I pair it with, LWD is the easiest garment to wear in the summer (perfect for lazy people who want to look put-together). So if I’m wearing yet another LWD in the next outfit post, just assume that it’s my summer uniform…I’ll try to keep it exciting with accessories.

So tell me, do you have something that you keep buying over and over again…similar, but different? Share in the comments.

2 February, 2016 Nelia

Aritzia-Spring-Summer-Collection-Lookbook-2016-2
Guys, I’m pretty sure that winter’s been cancelled! Last Sunday, as le bf and I strolled home from Bobbette & Belle, my jacket was wide open, my fingers were glove-free, and I didn’t even have a hat on! So now that we know that spring is just around the corner, it’s time to feast our eyes on spring arrivals. I guarantee that you’ll love Aritzia Spring 2016 Collection Lookbook – it’s the epitome of spring chic! The collection is full of easy white pieces – from flowy dresses, to sexy little tops, as well as earthy statement accessories and knits. I won’t spend too much time singing it praises, and will let this stellar lookbook do the talking. Enjoy!

Let me know if you love Aritzia Spring 2016 Collection as much as I do in the comments!

What I Wore: Prada…Not

22 March, 2011 Nelia

While I cannot afford a real Spring 2011 Prada dress (yet), this Zara substitute works just fine, don’t you think? I am loving the color combo and the cut of this easy shift. And coupled with the latest fave piece in my closet – the Alex Moto jacket from Club Monaco, this might just be my favorite outfit in a while. I still have to wear a coat over the jacket though…it’s just not warm enough. And apparently it won’t be getting better any time soon, we’ll get as much as 10cm of snow this week! If I ever find those lying groundhogs…

I Wore: Dress – Zara; Jacket – Club Monaco; Leggings – Aritzia; Sunglasses – H&M; Necklace – Forever21; Bag – Prada; Boots – Proenza Schouler (The Room)

Shopping: Spring 2011 Essentials

18 March, 2011 Nelia

I am so ready for spring! Sunshine, double-digit temperatures, birds chirping, love in the air…I am missing it all. But is my closet spring-ready? That’s another question.

For months now, I’ve been buying things here and there, trying to make sure that my wardrobe consists of enough fun pieces to carry me through spring in style. And below are my top Spring 2011 essentials (part 1).

What I Wore: Baby, It’s Cold Outside

19 December, 2010 Nelia

My winter uniform usually consists of a comfy sweater, leggings, and my TNA parka from Aritzia – which lasted me 5 years already, keeping me cozy and warm through the coolest of days. But 5 years later, it’s definitely showing some signs of wear and tear, and I’m thinking of buying another one. But probably not until next year.

What gets you through the winter? Do you have a winter uniform? I’d love to hear your suggestions on a winter jacket that is warm and not too puffy. I do love my TNA one, but maybe there’s something more fun out there. Let me know if you have any ideas.

I Wore: Tank Top – Forever21; Sweater, Circle Scarf – H&M; Leggings – Durumi at the Burroughes; Boots – Aldo; Jacket – TNA; Bag – Prada

What I Wore: Unbelt My Heart

14 October, 2010 Nelia

These photos were taken a while ago, actually. Back when wearing a jacket wasn’t really necessary, but I did it anyway, because I missed wearing jackets, after an entire jacket-less summer. I got this one from Gap a few years back on sale, and I’ve loved it ever since. Military is, of course, a pretty big trend this fall, but I like this jacket in particular because it fits so damn well, it’s lightweight and comfy, even when I don’t have to wear a jacket. Is that confusing you? Sorry, it’s been a tiring week.

Also, I think this was the first time I ever wore a belt with a jacket. I kinda liked it aesthetically, but it’s the most awkward thing when you have to take off your belt in order to take off your coat inside a sushi restaurant. I mean, it actually felt as if I was taking off my pants, or something. And then, once the belt is off, where do you put it??? Do you just hang it on the back of your chair? Or do what I did, and roll it up in a ball, and stuff it hurriedly into a jacket pocket? I don’t know the rules of jacket+belt wearing, but I do know that perhaps in order to avoid seeming gauche, it’s best to just keep the darned jacket+belt combo on the entire time? What do you think?

Yorkdale is Me: Outtakes

5 August, 2010 Nelia

Woohoo! I have finally updated my About page! It’s been 15 or so months and I just couldn’t get around to doing it. I’m still not completely happy with the final result, but it’ll do for now. Why it’s so hard to write things about yourself, I’ll never know.

And in the spirit of sharing things that are overdue, here are some of the outtake photos from my Chris Nicholls Yorkdale is Me  photoshoot. I still can’t believe my luck sometimes…not only did Chris Nicholls, the same guy that shoots for Holt Renfrew and Flare Magazine took my pictures…but they also appeared on a billboard! Crazy talk.

Here’s what I wore:

Outfit 1: Striped Mens Shirt, Pants, Shoes – H&M; Lip Bracelet – Aldo

Outfit 2: Top – Aritzia; Leopard Print Cardigan, Necklace, Shoes – H&M; Jeans – Gap

What I Wore: First Day of Spring!

8 March, 2010 Nelia

Last weekend, it felt like Spring finally showed its sunny face, and it made me (and thousands of others) so very happy! After spending half a day at home doing meaningless boring stuff (laundry, cleaning, etc.), my cousin and I went for a walk in a park – High Park. The weather was chilly, the pond still frozen, but people still came out in droves to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. If there’s one thing I love about Toronto, is that people here really do appreciate good weather. Not one sunny day goes wasted. When I lived in Houston, where sunny days are dime a dozen, I’ve spent more days than I care to admit, at the mall or somewhere else indoors, not knowing that one day, when I move to Canada, those days will be missed dearly. Will never make that mistake again.

I Wore: Blazer, Purse – Zara; Boots – Guess; Shorts – H&M; Top – Forever21; Leggings – Aritzia; Sunglasses – Ray Ban
