Steven and Stefon are my pink flamingos. The moment we bought our house, I knew I had to find a pair of flamingos to live in our backyard. Luckily, Dollarama came to the rescue, and Steven and Stefon came home with me. Seeing le bf move them around week after week (after mowing the lawn) makes me smile every time. Sometimes, small things are all it takes.

Last Tuesday, instead of heading home after a long day at the office, I rushed to the Evergreen Brickworks, to attend Lainey Gossip’s 8th annual SMUT Soiree. Knowing that the event would be full of amazing experiences and juicy gossip, even the promise of thunderstorms couldn’t stop me.
I arrived to a jam-packed venue, with over 1000 people enjoying free drinks, manis, hair touch-ups, Cinderella-like shoe fittings from ALDO, and more. And with $1000 FLARE x H&M “style award” prize on the line, the attendees really brought their A-game. I haven’t seen a crowd this stylish in a long time!
After hanging out with my blogger besties Sharon and Gracie, we took our seats for a gossip sesh full of blind item reveals and juicy tidbits that only the industry insiders would normally be privy to. It felt like a HUGE slumber party with your best friends…well…if you have 1000 girlfriends that is. Lainey, who will be moving to Toronto this summer, also introduced her future The Social co-hosts Melissa Grelo, Cynthia Loyst, and Traci Melchor, who gave the audience a taste of what their new daytime show would feel like – and it was pretty fun…and smutty! Cynthia shared a personal blind item…and I’m fairly sure it was about Emilio Estevez…EMILIOOO! Well…at least I think it was.
With each year, the SMUT Soiree just keeps on getting bigger and better…and I wouldn’t be surprised if sometime soon it might have to be held at a large concert venue (ACC SMUT?). I guess I’m not the only gossip lover in town?

This weekend, ALDO celebrated the grand re-opening of their shiny new Toronto flagship store at Yorkdale Shopping Center, and I had the honour of hosting some of the events. On Friday, I spent some time with the adorablest Jay Strut, searching for the most stylish Torontonians, giving away gift cards, and swooning over the Canadian band Data Romance, who were AMAZING live! We put on our best ALDO dancing shoes, and danced, danced, danced the evening away.
On Saturday, I gave away more gift cards, danced to DJ Dirty Dale’s catchy beats, did a bit of shopping (umm…I think I’m addicted to ALDO’s sunglasses!), ate a ton of jelly beans, and hung out with some awesome Style Blog readers (thanks for stopping by!). But the cherry on top of my Saturday was seeing a lovely young girl win a $500 ALDO gift card from the Check Your Hedge promotion. Once she realized that she’d picked the winning card, her face lit up with happiness and disbelief, and we were all incredibly excited for her.
The new flagship store is huge, bright, and stocked to the brim with the latest and greatest ALDO shoes, bags, jewelry, and accessories. With knowledgeable, helpful, and super stylish staff, it’s every shoe-aholic’s dream come true, and is a definite must-visit store at Yorkdale.

Last week something awesome happened – Viktor & Rolf’s Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren stopped by The Room at The Bay while on a press visit to Toronto…and I got to meet them! Dreams do come true…for real!
The party was incredible! A string quartet played some modern tunes, there was plenty of yummy Perrier-Jouët bubbly to go around, and the crowds were dressed to the nines (The Room parties are always great for people-watching!). Bonnie Brooks was there, as were Stacey Kimmel, Rufus Wainwright, and Jeremy Laing…oh my!
As for my outfit…I decided to go less formal in my fave Club Monaco faux leather skirt, a soup tee under my trusty moto jacket, a pair of my new fave shoes from Aldo x Preen capsule collection, and a sparkly necklace to dress it up. Funny enough, I ran into Anita Clarke at the party, and we were both wearing the same shoes AND the same clutch from ela handbags! Twinsies! Well…except Anita was wearing a gorgeous Roland Mouret, while I was wearing Forever 21. But still…great minds think alike…and also, this totally shows off the versatility of fun accessories, non?
After having a quick moment alone with the belles of the ball (they were super-duper nice, by the way), my friends and I continued to mingle, checking out the new Viktor & Rolf spring collection, and making our dream wishlists, which included the clothes off designers’ backs, because those adorable embroidered jeans they both wore (one with mustaches, and the other with sunglasses) were just too awesome for words. Alas…I never got the courage to ask them about their jeans, so they stayed firmly in my dreams. But hey, Viktor and Rolf…if you see this…I’d love to do a Sisterhood of Travelling Pants thing with you. And though I’m not exactly sure how it works, I think we could start by you sending me your adorable jeans, and me wearing them…Ok? Sounds good to me.

ALDO’s ad campaigns never disappoint, and this one’s no exception. The fun and colourful images make me forget about this rainy week, and transport me to balmy summer days, when we can fire up the BBQ, lounge by the pool, and wear shorts and sandals!
And speaking of sandals…I’m obsessed with more than one pair of ALDO shoes right now. From their gorgeous ALDO Rise x Preen collab, to the cut-out ankle booties, to some plexiglass heels, I want them all! Oh…and let’s not forget about accessories! How cute are those pixelated sunglasses? I want one of each, please!

Last week, you might’ve noticed a million tweets about the ela handbags sample sale, and if you weren’t sure what the big whoop was all about, this is what. This red ela Lardy satchel was one of my spoils from the sample sale war, purchased for a steal! A beauty, isn’t she?
And since I have the tendency to become obsessed with shiny new things, I couldn’t part with my new bag for days after I bought it. And you know what? It’s a perfect bag! Spacious and roomy enough for everything I need to tote with me, yet really light and comfy to carry. Gotta love sample sales.
Also, I’m hoping, that this will serve as my ginger way of getting back to taking outfit photos for real (meaning: not in front of a bathroom mirror with my iPhone), so stay tuned for more What I Wore posts. Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Last Sunday, my fellow LOFT Girls and I threw a brunch-themed party at Yorkdale Shopping Centre’s LOFT store…and it was a blast! Our guests showed up bright and early to shop, sip cocktails, and nosh on yummy brunch bites like Nutella + banana wraps, and cinnamon sugar donuts. Attendees enjoyed 25% off new spring collection, DJ playing fun beats, free customized totes personalized by designer and stylist Tiffany Pratt, and a chance to win a $500 LOFT Gift Card and Personal Styling Session at Yorkdale Shopping Centre.
I truly loved meeting and mingling with my readers, sharing my excitement about the new spring arrivals, and those delish mini hot chocolates certainly didn’t hurt either! “I am a 19 year old university student who just landed a job working in an office at my school. There is no official dress code, but I want to look professional and put together while working alongside women with advanced degrees, often 20-30 years older than me. I am struggling to find outfits that work both in the office as well as hanging out in the library, riding the bus or sitting in a lecture hall (i.e. not too stuffy or overdressed) since my working hours are mixed throughout my school schedule. Also please take into consideration that my hometown has a long, cold and snowy winter season. I want to look youthful, conservative, professional, yet blend in with a casually-dressed student body.
I am thinking along the lines of fitted pants (no denim, but not “dress pants”) and blouses, cardigans, maybe a casual blazer, and flat closed toe shoes and boots.” – Nicole
