It wasn’t the super exciting red carpet that I was hoping for, but I’ll take what I can get. For one, you can always count on Naomi Watts to wear something beautiful but not overwrought to the Oscars. I loved her colourful fishscale-like gown by Armani Prive. The necklace was a nice touch, I just wish she went with a choker instead. Otherwise, she looked perfect.
I was also pleasantly surprised to see Amy Poehler slay it on the red carpet tonight. Amy’s embroidered Andrew Gn gown is fun, flattering, and definitely not boring. She looked amazing, and you can tell that she was feeling good too.
More after the jump!
Margot Robbie is a gorgeous woman, and her gown tonight made her look like the Oscar statuette…in a good way. Love the long sleeves coupled with a plunging neckline (sans necklace). Classy and sexy at the same time.
Julianne Moore wore the exquisite CHANEL Haute Couture gown fresh off the runway – Karl Lagerfeld’s favourite from the Fall 2016 collection. And though I normally don’t favour black dresses on red carpets, having seen this gown at the re-see in New York recently, I can attest to just how special it is. The embellishments, the lace, the cut – it’s all perfect, as is Julianne.
I will admit that I am not 100% sold on Cate Blanchett’s gown…I feel like the bottom should’ve had more flowers, like the top, but seeing this on TV, with movement, it took my breath away. Full disclosure: I would hate this on 99% of other people in the world, but not on Cate. Cate elevates this and makes it into something else altogether, and I love it.
Other than my top 5, I also liked Emily Blunt’s adorable pink gown, Olivia Wilde’s amazing Valentino (though not styled the way she wore it), Daisy Ridley’s CHANEL Haute Couture dress (great length!), Lady Gaga’s dress-pantsuit hybrid, and even Kate Winslet’s skintight gown, which I admit reminded me of a garbage bag at first, but I loved it nonetheless. Mindy Kaling looked great in her old-school-glam gown, and so did Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton, even if I wasn’t entirely in love with that bubble hem. I am also including Charlize Theron, not because I was into her dress (it was ok), but because she looked too hot to skip.
