prabal-gurung-target-lookbook4

Remember those photos from the Prabal Gurung x Target commercial being shot in NYC last year? Well, now we have the full lookbook from the collection to drool over. I am seriously considering making a trip down south to get a few pieces for myself, since we still don’t have Target in Canada. The collection will hit the stores on February 10th, and will range in price from $19.99 to $199.99 for apparel and $12.99 to $39.99 for jewelry, handbags and shoes.

Wishlist: Charlotte Olympia Graca Pumps

charlotte-olympia-graca-bird-cage-pumps

As soon as Christmas and New Year’s Eve are done and over with, my mind automatically fast-forwards to spring, because the thought of 3 more months of cold, snow, and slush is just too depressing to bear. But don’t fret, today’s wishlist item is as cheerful as they come!

This spring, my must-have pair of shoes is Charlotte Olympia’s Graca Pump from the designer’s Glamazon Cruise 2013 collection! A classic red pump at first glance, the heel reveals a colourful bird caged behind an exquisite “cage” heel. As a sucker for kitschy pieces, I am crushing on this pretty bird…hard. I’ll be surely stalking these at The Room, and online…until I get my paws hands on them!

Happy 175th Anniversary, Tiffany & Co.!

Tiffany-Co.-Toronto-Flagship-Private-Shopping-Session

Last month, something pretty epic happened. Tiffany & Co. invited yours truly, along with 3 of my blogger besties to experience the magic of Tiffany during the holiday season. Rocking our LBDs, we got to try on and play with anything our hearts desired during our after-hour private soiree, and boy, did we ever indulge!

As someone who’s always been obsessed with Breakfast at Tiffany’s, this unique experience was certainly one for the history books. The girls and I tried on everything in sight, from canary yellow diamonds (my fave), to Elsa Peretti bone cuffs (stunning!), to diamonds by the yard (!!!). I felt like a kid at a candy store, only way luckier!

Accompanied by the lovely Andrea Hopson, Vice-President of Tiffany & Co. Canada, the girls and I munched on Tiffany-blue petit fours, and sipped champagne in honour of the company’s 175th year anniversary…all the while pinching ourselves.

Needless to say, after the whirlwind shopping spree, the girls and I had to add more than a few Tiffany & Co. pieces to our Christmas wish lists. Here’s hoping that Santa will deliver (pineapple salt and pepper shakers for me, please!).

As for all of those guys out there, if you still haven’t gotten a gift for that special woman in your life…and let’s face it, most men leave to the very end…you can never go wrong with something (anything!) from Tiffany & Co.! Seriously, just seeing that blue box with a perfectly tied ribbon puts a huge grin on anyone’s face. It’s no wonder the company has been around for almost two centuries!

Do you wish for something from Tiffany & Co. this holiday season? Which pieces are your favourite? Share in the comments!

Holidays 2012: Canadian Fashion Insiders’ Gift Guide Part Two

Canadian-Fashion-Insiders-Gift-Guide-Holidays-2012-Ryan-Michael-Cheung-final

Welcome to part two of our Canadian Fashion Insiders’ Gift Guide! If you are still on the hunt for that perfect gift this holiday season, make sure to check out our experts’ picks for some fun and fresh gift ideas. Whether you are looking for something stylish, practical, or simply adorable, we’ve got you covered!

1. Ryan Michael Cheung, Online Editor, FLARE Magazine

This dapper FLARE editor sure knows what he wants. Ryan’s simple and classic wishlist items are just as understated and cool as the man himself. So if you are shopping for Mr. Cheung this holiday season, grab him a Casio-inspired Neuvo watch in bronze, a Tivoli Audio Model One Radio, or some letter-pressed stationery from Terrapin Stationers, and watch his face light up.

In turn, Ryan will be giving some pretty kick-ass gifts of his own! “I had my jet-set friend Andrew in mind when creating this bag for the December issue gift guide. I upgraded the classic Banff style with a can’t-miss-hit of oxblood (easy to spot at baggage claim) and preppy monogram to make it personal,” – shared Ryan. And who wouldn’t love a personalized Roots bag?! I know I would! He’ll also be taking a friend to see the Christmas classic The Nutcracker, as well as gifting a copy of Vogue’s latest book – The Editor’s Eye to a “fashion addict” friend.

As for Ryan’s top three places to shop for gifts, he counts Drake General Store, Restoration Hardware, and Club Monaco among his favourites, so take note.

2. Talia Brown, Stylist

“Growing up in the North, Holiday spirt was sprung with the dusting of the snow, the smell of the fire and the taste of good old fashioned cocoa. Here in Toronto you, can feel and see the joy in the streets, the eye candy of the window displays and of course the music that just becomes part of the movement. The hustle and bustle, the busyness of the shoppers, all in good spirit, of course.”

When I first met Talia, I was smitten with her sweet and bubbly personality, and her talent for styling. This holiday season, Talia is wishing for a perfect pair of rag & bone ankle booties, a Chibi Lady purse by ela in rose gold, and a gorgeous lace dress from LOVER. Ever the stylist, the three pieces go really well together and make for an amazing holiday outfit. Here’s hoping she gets it all!

On Talia’s shopping list this season are adorable (and yummy) gifts that she’ll be sharing with her loved ones, like the Peppermint Bark from Williams-Sonoma, the limited edition Missoni x Holt Renfrew stuffed animals (they are the cutest!), and luxurious lipstick from YSL, perfectly matched to her girlfriends’ personalities.

Talia will be doing some holiday shopping at MoRoCo Chocolat, The Cashmere Shop, and Bicyclette this holiday season.

Holidays 2012: Canadian Fashion Insiders’ Gift Guide Part One

Canadian-Fashion-Insiders-Gift-Guide-Holidays-2012-Ela-Kowalewska

The holidays are almost here, and if like me you still haven’t started your holiday shopping, don’t worry and get happy, because this year, I asked some of my favourite Canadian Fashion Insiders to share their stylish holiday wishlists and gift ideas with us. What will a designer, a model, a photographer, a make-up artist, a stylist, an editor, a blogger, and a PR maven be getting and giving this holiday season? Read on to find out!

1. Ela Kowalewska, Designer, ela Handbags

One of my favourite Canadian accessories designers, Ela is without a doubt one stylish lady. This holiday season, on her wishlist is a gorgeous Cartier Juste un Clou ring (yes, please!), Margiela’s Untitled perfume, and a weekend stay to relax and play at Langdon Hall. As for her Give list…all I can say is her loved ones are pretty lucky, because this season she’ll be giving some pretty sweet presents. On Ela’s shopping list is the editor’s pouch from her namesake line ela, Caudalie beauty elixir (one of my fave skincare brands too!), Byredo Parfums’ Gypsy Water, and Tkees flip flops, among other lovely presents.

As for her favourite places to shop, Ela counts Holt Renfrew, eLUXE, and Chapters as her holiday mainstays. “Aside from spending quality time with family and friends over homemade dinners/cocktails on both sides of the Atlantic a touch of snow (sprinkle will do), a good Christmas market as well as a few laps around the Somerset House skating rink get us into the holiday spirit,” shared Ela.

Canadian-Fashion-Insiders-Gift-Guide-Holidays-2012-Jason-Hudson

2. Jason Hudson, Photographer

Not only is Jason one of the most talented photographers I know, I am also obsessed with his personal blog. Chronicling the people he meets, the events he attends (and works), the delicious food he cooks, along with personal stories and helpful tips on a variety of subjects, his website is more than just a blog – it’s pretty much a life guide, and a very helpful one at that.

What more, Jason and his partner Jeff will be setting off on an adventure of a lifetime this December, taking a year off to travel the globe! Appropriately, on Jason’s wishlist this season is a new luggage set from Heys (something durable, that will survive a year of constant travelling), MacBook Air to record his adventures, and a pair of new Persol sunglasses, which he’ll surely need while sipping delicious drinks in Honolulu.

As for what he’ll be giving to his loved ones this holiday season, Jason shared that his go-to host gift is the “super Canadian” Sortilege Maple Whisky, and that champagne flutes from Tiffany never fail – “the blue box is high-impact and exciting, and the glassware is classic.” Jason and Jeff will also be buying a map of the world for their nephews, so that they will be able to “follow us on our travels around the world!”

Givenchy-HM-Collaboration-Collection

Waking up to a rumour that Givenchy might collaborate with H&M in 2013 is probably the best way to start my morning. And though we still don’t know whether the above image holds any truth whatsoever, I thought I’d join in the collective hysteria/wishful thinking, and say OMFGPLEASELETTHISBETRUE!!! The Givenchy x H&M collection would be absolute amazingness, and I would totes line up for it! Would you? Share in the comments!

Danier Leather Spring 2013 Collection Preview

danier-leather-spring-2013

Earlier this week, I attended the Danier Leather Spring 2013 collection preview, which quite literally brightened up my day. As I entered the showroom, I was immediately drawn to all the fun leather jackets in peppy shades, making me wish spring was here. But even though we still have a few months to go before leather jacket weather is back, there’s no reason why we can’t make our Spring/Summer wishlists in November…right?

My must-haves from the preview included the aforementioned leather jackets (my fave is the butter-soft moto jacket in soft yellow leather…drool!), beautifully-cut illusion dresses, adorable shoulder strap purses in red, green, and blue, and the Valentino-esque studded leather totes. A lot of the pieces at the preview incorporated fun elements like printed lining (images of butterflies, trucks, and tie-dye among others), colourblocking,  quilted details (my fave!), and more. And with some items arriving in stores as early as January, I won’t have to wait too long to add some of these pieces to my wardrobe.

What do you think of Danier’s Spring 2013 collection? What are your must-haves? Share in the comments.

H&M Spring 2013 Lookbook

h&m-spring-2013-lookbook

As we are gearing up for winter here in Canada, my fave fast-fashion retailer H&M is looking forward to spring…and I really don’t mind! Yesterday, I attended the brand’s Spring 2013 preview, and walked away needing my fix of spring H&M goodies. Not until next year, unfortunately…but we can still admire the clothes…right?

Lately I’ve been straight-up obsessed with decorative pineapples, so imagine my delight when I saw not one, not two, but a whole bunch of H&M Spring 2013 pieces with my fave fruit all over them (in print, of course!). Apart from pineapples, there were some really beautiful printed pieces, which reminded me of Clover Canyon and Mary Katrantzou, with their photo-prints and flowy silhouettes. If I could get my hands on a printed maxi in time for my vacay, I think I’d be the happiest ever…but alas, it won’t be hitting the stores until next year, so no dice.

I also loved the Western-inspired leather pieces, from booties to skirts to pants to jackets, this trend will have a strong presence this spring, and I hope to snag a leather mini to wear with my ankle boots come spring.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Spring 2013 preview…it was a small taste of spring on a bleak fall day. Now if only we could just skip the winter altogether, and get to the good stuff already!

What do you think of H&M’s Spring 2013 pieces? What are your faves? Share in the comments.

Wishlist: Animal Intarsia Sweaters

animal-sweaters

Clockwise from top left corner: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Animal-print sweaters are taking over my life lately. And no, I am not talking about the ones of the leopard-print variety…I’m talking about sweaters with adorable tiger/dog/cat faces printed on them…and I just can’t seem to get enough. Actually, as I type this…I am wearing one myself! And a couple of years ago, I picked this one up at H&M…and to this day I get emails about it ALL THE TIME!

If you are into these as much as I am, then you’re in luck. Whatever the animal, I’m pretty sure there’s an intarsia sweater with its face on it out there somewhere. All you need to do is shop around.

Would you wear an animal-printed sweater yourself? Share in the comments.
