Style Fille: ScarJo vs. Whitney Port

Both MTV Movie Awards and Spike TV Awards were held last weekend, and I missed both. But since, the only thing that really matters are dresses, I don’t mind too much. Both Whitney Port (to MTV) and Scarlett Johansson (to Spike TV) showed up wearing dresses in a similar limey yellow hue, while accessorizing them with taupe shoes/booties. I really love both dresses, and while ScarJo has the star power (Jean Claude Gahd Dam, anyone?), Whitney, in my opinion, has an advantage in the style department. And since I love both looks, I think a poll is in order! Who do you think wins the hue-off this time? Whitney in her Yigal Azrouel mini or Scarlett in the asymmetrical Preen? Vote below!

Buy, Keep, or Toss: Backpack

Trends come and go, which makes getting rid of old things super tough. Take shoulder pads for one, had my mom kept her power suit tops for me, I wouldn’t have had to spend a small fortune updating my wardrobe with Zara/H&M pieces. Same goes for the new trend in bags – backpacks. Had I kept my old one…brown leather and tiny…perhaps I wouldn’t have shelled out for my Chanel one.

Seeing how this new trend is popping up on stylish shoulders of celebs such as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Whitney Port, Rihanna, Daisy Lowe, and Rachel Bilson, among others, and with Stella McCartney designing for LeSportsac, as well as a miriad of designers including backpacks on their Spring and Fall 2010 runways, options are no longer limited to the usual Prada nylon backpacks…there are so many choices available – dressy, sporty, preppy. Yet, still, this trend is definitely not for everyone. What are your thoughts on this one?

Coachella Style 2010

What better occasion to summer-style-watch than at a festival set in the middle of the desert? Year after year, young and hip celebs flock to Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to soak up the sun, the booze, and the music. My fave styles this year come courtesy of Whitney Port, in her practical shoes, colorful summery outfits, and not-so-fussy hairstyles. Style Fille: Whitney Port

I don’t know if it’s because I adore stripes of all kinds, but I am in love with Whitney Port’s monochromatic ensemble! Love that she is wearing different patterns together with such ease, love her Chanel purse (so classic), love the pretty hair and the leggings. This outfit could look so bad on the wrong person, but Whitney pulls it off! Chic and fabulous!

Jimmy Choo for H&M Hollywood Party

“The Jimmy Choo for H&M collection embodies the attitude and spirit of laid back party glamour. Los Angeles is the perfect setting to launch the collection,” says Tamara Mellon, Founder and President, Jimmy Choo. Well said Tamara! It feels like Jimmy Choo for H&M collection has been out for a while, even though it hasn’t yet hit the stores. We’ve already seen the pieces from the lookbook, as well as some photos of the new ad campaign, and now we have some exclusive photos from the Hollywood Hills party, attended by a bunch of celebs like Rashida Jones, Olivia Wilde, Kate Walsh, Sheryl Crow and many others. M.I.A. performed for the star-studded audience, and most guests rocked pieces from the new collection.

Initially, I wasn’t impressed by the pieces from the Jimmy Choo for H&M line, but seeing them on actual people (if celebrities can be called people) made me change my mind a bit. I love the thigh-high boots on M.I.A.! Love them, want them, got to have them! Also like Tamara’s leather dress and Olivia’s studded mini-dress. Would be perfect for holiday parties! Jimmy Choo for H&M will be available in select stores on November 14th! Don’t miss it!
