What I Wore: Copycat

charlotte-olympia-jacob

Last Sunday, le bf and I took our amazing moms out to brunch at La Societe to celebrate Mother’s Day with yummy French Toast and Eggs Benny…because nothing says “I love you” like eggs and Nutella.

To mark the special occasion, I wore a pretty dress, paired with my fave kitty flats. And if my outfit looks strangely familiar to you…it might be due to the fact that I “borrowed” it from the lovely Alexa Chung. Only her dress was Valentino, and mine is from Jacob. That’s right…my outfit is decidedly more affordable AND (partially) Canadian. I mean, come on…I win, right? Right? Tell me I win and I’ll send you a cookie…it may or may not be fully baked and/or burned, but it’s the thought that counts, people!

What I Wore: Day and Night

h&m-tory-burch

Last weekend was so much fun, you guys! As some of you already know…I’ll be a wifey soon. And to celebrate the upcoming merriment, my dear friends threw me not one…but two bachelorette parties!

First, my lovely bridesmaid Aleyda organized a yummy brunch at MoRoCo, followed by manis/pedis at the nearby salon. It was a perfect afternoon of relaxation and pampering. I had an amazing time catching up with friends, sipping lattes, and opening gifts, which I was hoping would be naughty, but were very nice instead. My brunch attire matched the theme, and I wore a white peplum dress from H&M, accessorized with neon details, and my new fave purse from Tory Burch’s new Yorkdale outpost (which is a must visit!).

At night, however, things got decidedly less classy. My amazing blogger friends Richard and Marc organized and threw me an unforgettable Rihanna-Themed Bachelorette party, complete with naughty games, fun decor, and pièce de résistance dance party at Buddies in Bad Times. Trying to find my inner Rihanna, I ended up wearing my fave Zara fringe leather skirt, new neon necklace from H&M, and my most comfy Aldo booties, all topped off with a DIY flower crown. And yes, I probably looked more like a Coachella attendee, than RiRi…but there were plenty of RiRis at the party (*cough* Jay Strut *cough*), so I didn’t feel too bad.

The next morning, I felt amazing…slightly hungover…but still super thankful for the awesome people I have met over the years, people I call friends…the ones that turn even daily get-togethers into unforgettable memories. Thank you, my dear friends for all of your support, love, and encouragement! This weekend was one for the history books…ok, not for THE history books per se…but I’m certainly not going to forget it any time soon.

What I Wore: Pale and Floral

mavi-red-jeans

Received these cute (and super comfy) Mavi Floral Red Jeans in the mail last week…I guess the news of my crazy pants addiction travel fast, huh? Well, if that means more crazy fun pants added to my wardrobe, than I don’t mind it one bit.

Don’t be fooled by this outfit…last weekend (when I wore it) wasn’t really warm enough for bare arms yet, but it sure was warm enough for some photos with my jacket off. This weekend however…oh, this weekend, I am baring my arms and legs…for realsies! Unless the weather people lied again, which they have been known to do…in which case, you’ll be spared from seeing my neon WHITE skin. Positive thinking, people! It’s a thing.

Speaking of my ghastly complexion…Should I try one of those spray tan booths before my wedding? I don’t want to end up like Anne Hathaway’s character in that horrid Bride Wars movie…but I also don’t want to look like this either…What to do, folks? If you have any tan-related advice…or crazy pants suggestions…please let me know!

What I Wore: Childish

zara-floral-pants-pastel

As we’re bracing ourselves for wind, snow, and slush…I thought I’d share one of my recent spring looks. The pastel floral pattern of these Zara jeans reminds me of children’s clothing for some reason, but I really don’t mind. In fact, I think I really love these jeans. Childish, or not.

I also love my new minty fresh H&M sweater. The open knit is easy and light enough to wear on cool summer nights…all summer long. IF it ever shows up that is.

Hope you had a great weekend, lovelies. Now excuse me, while I go dig out my parka out of the garbage bin.

Sometimes all you need is a great pair of shoes. That’s all. No matter how casual the rest of your look is…throw on some amazing shoes, and you’re good to go. That’s what happened last weekend…lazy outfit instantly upgraded by a pair of lovely pumps.

These Stuart Weitzman Capsize pumps are everything I wanted in a spring shoe - perfect pastel pink color, metallic pointy toe, and a sturdy heel. Oh, and they come in “salad green” color too…which I might just have to go out and buy…because, HELLO! They are so pretty!

Style-Off: Libertine for Aldo Rise

aldo-rise-style-off

Welcome to the 2nd installment of Style Blog Style-Off, featuring two of my fave Toronto bloggers – Anita Clarke and Gracie Carroll, rocking the hottest shoe collab (possibly) ever! This week’s Style-Off’s challenge was to style a pair of amazing (and surprisingly comfy) Libertine for Aldo Rise ($155) black and white platform wedges, and though I might be biased here…but I think we did pretty darn great! Funny thing…looks like neon green is definitely having its moment in the spotlight, because we certainly did not plan on matching our accent colors!

As with the last Style-Off, the winner gets the bragging rights, and a free drink. And to up the stakes some more, we’ve decided that all the Style-Off winners will get to go face-off in the final Style-Off challenge a few months later. Sounds good? Choose wisely, and vote for your favorite look below!

Who Gets Your Vote?

  • I adore Gracie's printed vintage dress paired with the striped wedges! (58%, 337 Votes)
  • Nelly's black and white look is simple and works with the shoes. (19%, 114 Votes)
  • Anita's super-mix of Wang, Kane, Laing, and Aldo rocks my socks! (19%, 112 Votes)
  • Not a fan of either one. (2%, 13 Votes)
  • Love all three! (2%, 9 Votes)

What I Wore: Clowning Around

zara-trf-wide-pants

I have a confession to make…I think I might have a case of Crazy Pants Addiction. It all started with a pair of printed Prada trousers I picked up at Holts Last Call, and escalated from then on. So far, I own floral pants, red pantssnakeskin pants, polka dot pants, pajama pants, black and white pants…and now I also own what le bf calls “clown pants”. Obviously, I disagree with his rash assessment of my new Zara wide-leg scarf-print silk trousers, because I think they are amazing!

Paired with my new fave leather jacket, velvet Miu Miu heels, and green OBJECT clutch, I think they look stunning…and not in a taser-stunned kind of way.

How do you feel about wide-leg silk trousers? Do you agree that they look like clown pants? Or are they perfectly 70s…in a good way? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

What I Wore: Fringe

fringe-skirt-shoes

I’ve been so indecisive about this leather fringe skirt from Zara. Every time I’d stop by the store, I’d always pick it up…but then inevitably would drop it before getting to the cash register. The reason? I have a very similar dress from Jacob. But after literally months of back and forth…I figured I liked it enough to make the plunge, and as a result, I now have two fringed leather items in my closet, and I love it. Needless to say, le boyfriend is ecstatic. Not.

So what does one wear with a fringed leather skirt? A pair of super awesome Aldo Rise shoes, of course! This pair is quickly becoming a favorite in my shoe closet, because surprisingly it goes with pretty much everything I own (exhibit 1, exhibit 2). So please don’t judge if you see these again in another outfit post…I’ve been a little obsessed with them, but I’m getting help. I promise.

This week, I am super excited to introduce Style Blog Style-Off, a new series of posts featuring some of my favorite brands (and products), and cool people that love them as much as I do!

Today’s style-off item is a pair of amazing H&M Floral Pants ($14.95) that I literally had to stalk for weeks on end…until they were finally mine! *insert maniacal laughter here* My friends Kim, Jo, and Septembre also seemed to love these kick-ass floral trousers, and happily obliged when I challenged them to a style-off. I told them to bring it…and they sure did!

So here’s where you come in! Take a peek at the looks below, and vote on your fave look (or looks). The winner gets the glory of being the first ever Style Blog Style-Off winner, and I’ll also buy them a drink…So obviously, the stakes are extremely high. And if in the process, you get some styling inspiration out of it – even better.

So what are you waiting for? Ready? Set. Vote!*

What I Wore: Boyfriend Jeans

boyfriend-jeans

Summer was here for a minute, and now the cooler temperatures are here to stay for a bit…or at least that’s what the unreliable weatherpeople tell us. So last week, as the last hurrah, I tried to wear as many summery outfits as possible, including a pair of my trusty boyfriend jeans. They are probably the most comfy pair I own…and I love wearing them both to bum around the house, and out to dinner. They are so versatile! I also threw on my new mint-colored tee from Zara to add a pop of pastels to my outfit. It’s not for everyone, but I think I kinda like it.

What do you think? Share in the comments.

What I Wore: Taste The Rainbow

toronto-fashion-week-9

This is my outfit from Day 4 of Toronto Fashion Week (worn with a black Joe Fresh trench coat on top because it was bloody freezing). But my new pink skirt from Danier Leather’s OBJECT line is so worth a few goosebumps…am I right, or am I right? I also busted out my (also) new OBJECT clutch in neon green, which I simply adore and le bf heartily endorses. He actually told me that he likes it! (Which happens once in a…NEVER!) And last, but certainly not least…I wore a metal collar necklace from H&M. And I can’t tell you how many people asked me where I got it…but A LOT of people did.

So there you have it, folks…a little Canadian flare, mixed in with some low budget finds, and my future wedding shoes equals my fave outfit in a long while. Oh, and there’s peplum too!

What I Wore: You Just Got Spotted

flare-wear-canada

Last week, in case you couldn’t tell from all the Toronto Fashion Week-related posts…fashion week madness descended upon Toronto. Throngs of models, editors, photographers, and bloggers arrived daily at Pecaut Square tents to watch Canadian designers present their Fall 2012 collections. Flare Magazine once again challenged everybody to “Wear Canada” during Toronto Fashion Week, and sent the lovely photographer sisters Michelle and Gabby of You Just Got Spotted to capture the Canadian pieces worn by the attendees.

Having worn my new fave Aldo Rise shoes, and Joe Fresh skinnies, I was spotted, snapped, and featured! And since I didn’t actually take my own outfit photos that day, I’ve decided to share this one instead.

Do you have go-to Canadian pieces? Share in the comments!
