Don’t Miss – This Week in Toronto!

Looking to do a little shopping? There are a few awesome shopping events happening in the city this week! Don’t miss out!

1. BOGO Event at H&M

Buy One, Get One Free on select knitwear at H&M stores in Canada from October 28th, until November 10th! Perfect time to stock up on your fave sweaters, or even buy a few early Christmas presents.

2. RACHEL Rachel Roy at The Bay

The RACHEL Rachel Roy collection is the redefinition and exploration of cool. One foot uptown, one foot downtown with a dash of daring. RACHEL Rachel Roy captures the cultural and individual essences of an urban-inspired lifestyle.”

The collection, available at The Bay, is full of fun party dresses and cool separates for any stylish urbanite. And this week, until November 1st, get 30% off regular priced RACHEL Rachel Roy items.

3. Victoria’s Secret Opens at Toronto Eaton Centre

Tomorrow, October 28th, the Angels will be landing at Toronto Eaton Centre for the opening of the second Victoria’s Secret store in Toronto. Come by and get your picture taken with Alessandra Ambrosio and Lily Aldridge from 5-7pm. Get access to the faster VIP line with a $100 minimum Victoria’s Secret purchase. Plus, get a Free Limited Edition Tote—filled with beauty must-haves and The Lacie — with a minimum $75 purchase. While supplies last. One tote per transaction.

Judging by the way autograph signing went at Yorkdale in August, I would suggest to get there early to ensure you actually get to meet the models.

4. Reia Studio Sample Sale

Not exactly this week, but it’s always good to plan ahead. November 4-6, Reia Studio will be holding a sample sale featuring accessories, clothing, and shoes from brands such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Miu Miu, Givenchy, and many more.

Having never been to a Reia sample sale before, I am not exactly sure what to expect, but the promise of amazing brands at 70% off sounds pretty darn good to me.

Reia Studio is located at 555 Richmond St. West, suite 706, Toronto, ON.

Sears Modern Shop Opening

I don’t remember the last time I shopped at Sears, mainly due to the lack of any sort of contemporary clothing in their stores. Sure they have Clinique and Lancome counters, but other than that, there’s nothing that makes me want to shop there.

Seems like the Sears people finally realized that something was missing, and as a result, they now have Modern Shop on their main floor! The Shop includes brands like Guess, Kensie, Attitude (which had a pretty great show for Fall 2010 at LGFW), American Apparel, Buffalo, and many others. And to get you to check out their selection, Sears will be offering $20 Sears Gift Cards to the first 50 people to visit Modern Shop (at Toronto Eaton Centre) this Saturday, June 12 at 1:30 pm! All you have to do is say the secret word, and the card is yours. I was advised that this promotion was not mailed to many, thus Style Blog’s readers might have a pretty good chance of taking advantage of this promo. If you’re interested in the Modern Shop, and want to get $20 Sears Gift Card, the secret word is…

H&M Eaton Centre Grand Re-Opening

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you might know that I’m a bit of an H&M junkie. I am in that store at least once a week to get some cheap and chic thrills, and so far the store has never failed me in my shopping adventures. Well, imagine my delight, when I received my very own invite to the re-opening of the Toronto Eaton Centre’s H&M location in the mail! Drinks, food, and 25% off clothes? I am so there! The flagship store has been renovated and given a facelift, switching a few things up for shoppers’ benefit and introducing a sleeker design. The darker walls create a more chic atmosphere, but the layout so far is a bit of hit and miss for me. Womenswear floors that have always been separated by the Children’s department are still kept apart, but now it’s by Men’s clothes.

Speaking of the Menswear floor – I loved the new layout there. Loved the Persian-esque rugs, the darker vibe. Very sleek, very cool. Loved it! Children’s department is also quite sprawling and easy to navigate (got the most adorable onesie for my nephew – it’s a Tigger and it’s striped…like auntie, like nephew). The fitting rooms on the lowest floor are a bit tough to find, but once you’re there, there are now more rooms available than before the reno. Huge plus!

The store was packed to the brim with shoppers both on April 28th, and 29th, which made it a bit more difficult to gauge the new collections, but I did manage to spot some cool garb and stylish people! The below bolero has been on many fashionista’s lists ever since it popped up in the H&M magazine. Well I’ve seen a few of them available, so if you’re still waiting…head on over before it’s gone. I also loved the punchy jewelry, the pretty clutches, the funky sunglasses (got a leopard print pair for fun). The basics section seems to have been expanded, and the lingerie section still has its separate room, alas smaller than before and cut in two by the snaking fitting room lineups.

Whatever the changes may be, the store does look better esthetically, but we’ll just have to shop and see whether the layout will be a pain or a gain for this location. I honestly did not see any problems with the old layout, but I will try to embrace the new. What are you thoughts on the new/old Eaton Centre H&M? Which location is your favorite to shop at? Share in the comments!

Shopping: H&M October 2009

hm13

A few of you emailed me asking for more H&M posts, featuring items currently in stores. And since I love my readers, and I love H&M, here are some pics from my latest shopping trip!

This time around, I found so many cute items, that it was super tough for me to stick to my self-imposed rule of only buying one thing (after the last weekend Buffalo trip). When I was at the Eaton Centre H&M last week, I spotted a few very pretty holiday dresses on their top floor, and really regretted not taking any photos, because this week they were all gone! Bummer! Though there were plenty of other awesome clothes to share with you! Enjoy!

hm2

Absolutely love the chain detailing and the shoulder pads on this super-simple cotton dress! And for only $40, it’s a crime not to buy it!

hm6

Love this top so much! Zara has a similar style, but in poplin-ish fabric. Like this one better, because it’s stretchy!

hm3

Another favorite! Comes in grey also, but I couldn’t find any left. Love the military detailing.

hm10

Not Jimmy Choos yet, but H&M has a few awesome pairs of boots available now.

More H&M after the jump!

Bath and Body Works Offer

Finally, finally, finally! Seems like more and more of my favorite US stores are slowly, but surely making their way to Canada! Last year, I was delighted to find out that a Bath and Body Works store opened up in Yorkdale! Now, we also have a location downtown, at Eaton Centre! If that’s not reason enough to jump for joy, then this little incentive should be!

bath and body

Till August 12, go out and get a Signature Collection Body Care or Home Fragrance item for Free* (with this coupon and any $15 purchase). This is a perfect offer for those unfamiliar with this totally amazing store! Don’t confuse it with the Body Shop; even though they sorta look and sound the same, Bath and Body Works is way better! I’ve been a huge fan of their lotions for years. The smells, and the way they make my skin all soft and touchable…Mmmm! My favorite is Cucumber Melon! Just go out there and try them! All of them!

*This offer is only valid at the Toronto Eaton Centre and Calgary’s Market Mall.
