What I Wore: New Beginnings

Happy New Year, everyone! Even though I’ve been extra lazy this holiday season…I am slowly but surely getting back into my pre-Christmas routine of working, blogging, and wedding-planning. And in case you wanted proof, here I am in actual clothes! No pjs and no blankets. Now that’s what I call progress.

How has the New Year been treating you so far? Any resolutions that you’ll be breaking come February? Share in the comments.

I Wore: Coat – Zara; Sweatshirt – J.Crew; Skirt – Joe Fresh; Necklace – Forever21; Leggings – TNA; Boots – c/o Stuart Weitzman; Bag – Prada

What I Wore: Baby, It’s Cold Outside

My winter uniform usually consists of a comfy sweater, leggings, and my TNA parka from Aritzia – which lasted me 5 years already, keeping me cozy and warm through the coolest of days. But 5 years later, it’s definitely showing some signs of wear and tear, and I’m thinking of buying another one. But probably not until next year.

What gets you through the winter? Do you have a winter uniform? I’d love to hear your suggestions on a winter jacket that is warm and not too puffy. I do love my TNA one, but maybe there’s something more fun out there. Let me know if you have any ideas.

I Wore: Tank Top – Forever21; Sweater, Circle Scarf - H&M; Leggings – Durumi at the Burroughes; Boots – Aldo; Jacket – TNA; Bag – Prada

What I Wore: Grandma Chic

Last week, in hope of finding High Park’s sakura trees in full bloom, le boyfriend and I set out on a little photo expedition. To our disappointment, however, the blossoms were nowhere to be found…one week too early. Oh well, we had a great day regardless! Sunny days make everyone so happy, including puppies, ducks and grown men. I was also excited to be wearing my new blue dress! Technically, it’s not at all special – it’s just Forever 21, but the thing is that my grandma used to have a dress that looked very similar to this one and it took me a while to actually snatch it up in my size (some techniques involved stalking the store’s hold section, and checking the website obsessively every few minutes).

So yeah, the dress is awesome! I also love the earrings…they are malachite and they actully belonged to my grandmother – only one of the few pieces of her jewelry that I was able to save. Nowadays, I wish my mom had kept more of my grandma’s things, so that instead of buying a “Made in China” dress to invoke memories of my beautiful grandmother, I could actually wear a piece from her own wardrobe. Le sigh. Do you have any special items in your closet that belonged to someone close to you? Share in the comments.

I Wore: Dress – Forever21; Jacket – Arden B; Bag – Zara; Boots – Guess; Earrings – My Grandma’s

What I’m Wearing: Black and White and Words All Over

I don’t think I was supposed to wear this dress to work, but thanks to the lenient office environment, I was able to pull it off without raising too many eyebrows. Have been very much into the monochromatic looks lately. Greys, whites, blacks are my friends…Maybe it’s the Toronto weather? Spring collections bring a promise of some color and fun shapes…and much needed warmth. Just in case you were wondering, I wore boots with the dress and leggings originally, but switched to pumps indoors. I am not crazy enough to walk around boots-less in the winter!

I’m Wearing: Dress – H&M; Shoes – Nine West; Blazer – Zara; Purse – Louis Vuitton; Necklace – Forever 21; Gloves – Winners; Leggings – TNA

What I’m Wearing: These Boots Were Made For Kicking

If you haven’t been to Aldo Liquidation store on Yonge St. in a while, I seriously urge you to check it out! There are amazing deals to be had. Like my new kicking boots. Ok, fine, they aren’t really kicking boots, but I can imagine myself saving a granny from a purse snatcher, chasing the bad guy down and kicking him with my beautiful new boots, that I got for a fraction of the original price. Smart and kick-ass!

When I bought these, I didn’t think that they’d be too comfortable, seeing how they are 5000 inches tall. But to my surprise, I felt great walking in them…bouncy even! I think it’s due to the thick-ish rubber soles. It’s like tires for feet! Needless to say, Sunday brunch at Cora’s was a huge success…all thanks to my new boots!

I’m Wearing: Shrug – Zara; T-shirt – Hanes, stolen from le boyfriend; Shorts – Forever21; Scarf – H&M; Leggings – TNA; Boots – Aldo; Purse – Miu Miu
