Style Fille: Diane Kruger in Cannes

diane-kruger-cannes-versus-jimmy-choo

How much do you love Diane Kruger’s outfit here? On a scale of 1 to 10, I think it’s a hard 11! That Versus dress…it actually looks classy on her, doesn’t it? With all the cut-outs and laces, it still looks 100% Diane and 100% chic. Imagine this same dress on some like Lindsay Lohan, and…well, you get the point.

Really excited to see what else Diane has up her sleeve for this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Hopefully Pacey Joshua joins her soon. I just love those two!

UPDATE: Just a few hours later, Diane wore this ethereal Giambattista Valli gown. Amazing, right? This woman, she really does make the best fashion choices.

The Met’s Costume Institute Gala: Worst Dressed

kirsten-dunst-rodarte-met-2012

After unsuccessfully trying to narrow down the Met’s Costume Gala 2012 Worst Dressed list to 5 celebs, I gave up and included all 6 outfits that I found either too boring, too ill-fitting, or too reminiscent of Santa’s wifey.

Yeah, I’m referring to Kirsten Dunst in that last one. When I first saw her Rodarte outfit, I actually kinda (really) liked it. And I almost put her on my Best Dressed list, until…it hit me! She looks like Mrs. Claus!!! If this was a different color combo, I would’ve loved it…but in this light, in this photo, it looks like Kirsten is rocking a look straight out of Mrs. Santa’s closet. Once I saw it, that’s the only thing I could focus on.

gwyneth-paltrow-met-2012-prada

Oh, Gwyneth. I love you…and generally, you bring some serious style-porn. But not this time. This Prada dress made your boobs look saggy, and though you’ve got some gorgeous gams to show off, I found this dress ill-fitting, and a bit too short for you. Oh well, can’t win them all. Great accessories though.

coco-rocha-met-2012-elizabeth-taylor-givenchy

I wanted to love Coco Rocha’s vintage Givenchy jumpsuit, previously owned by Elizabeth Taylor. I tried to like it…but I just just couldn’t. I think it might be the awkward length, that probably worked like a charm on someone petite (like Elizabeth Taylor), but looks all wrong on Coco. And let’s face it, had we not known that this jumpsuit belonged to Elizabeth Taylor, would this outfit have gotten as much attention? I don’t think so. Also, that dyed-to-match hair? What was she thinking?

anja-rubik-met-2012

So, Anja Rubik…we get it, you’re a gorgeous model with a banging body…but when your slit goes all the way to your hip bones, and we can almost see your “humanity”, and when even Angelina Jolie thinks that you’re posing a bit too hard…perhaps it’s time to stitch that shit up…at least a couple of inches.

sjp-met-gala-2012-valentino

It breaks my heart to rag on SJP, but it has to be said…”Oh, honey, NO!”. Ok, now I feel better. Maybe on a leggy supermodel, with an up-do, and a few minor alterations, this vintage Valentino could be…interesting…but SJP drowns in it, looking more like fashion roadkill than fashion inspiration.

kristen-stewart-balenciaga-met-2012

And lastly, we have what probably is one of the most controversial outfits of the Met Gala 2012 - Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga. I won’t lie…I kinda like the dress, and I really like the shoes…but not together, and not at the Met, and not on Kristen. With her body and youth, I am sure Kristen’s options were plentiful…and out of everything she was offered, she chose THIS? Sorry, Kristen…maybe next year.

The Met’s Costume Institute Gala 2012: Best Yellow

january-jones-versace-met-2012

As a huge fan of the color yellow, I got really excited when I saw both of these ladies rocking my favorite hue. But when it came time to choosing my fave between January Jones in Versace (and turquoise Cartier necklace!!!) and Solange Knowles in a simple and elegant Rachel Roy gown…I just couldn’t decide. So guess what, ladies and gents? I’m going to let you choose the best yellow of the Met Gala.

Take your pick below.

The Met’s Costume Institute Gala 2012: Best Dressed

met-costume-institute-gala-2012-giovanna_battaglia-dolce-gabbana

I am not exactly sure if we’re going to see eye-to-eye on my Best Dressed picks from the Met’s Costume Institute Gala 2012. But here they come. My number one pick for Best Dressed is Giovanna Battaglia in a floral Dolce and Gabbana gown, topped off with a floral crown (my recent obsession). She looks breathtaking…and a little Frida-Kahlo-esque…and I love everything about her look.

diane-kruger-prada-met-2012

Diane Kruger (in a floor-sweeping Prada number) can do no wrong in my eyes. She looks stunning, no? Interesting enough, but not crazy. I love the dress, the accessories, the hair and the makeup. Brava, Diane! Brava!

chloe-sevigny-miu-miu-met-2012

And then we have the yin to Diane’s yang. There’s something slightly off about this Miu Miu outfit that Chloe Sevigny has chosen for the Met Gala, and yes, it’s a little crazy, but I still love it. It’s the antithesis of boring. And while it might not be the classiest of getups, I kinda…not-so-secretly wish I could pull something like this off. So because of Chloe’s guts (or her stylist’s), I give this look two thumbs up.

rooney-mara-met-2012-givenchy

Rooney Mara in Givenchy is another one of my Best Dressed picks, because I really love what she has going on here. The hair and makeup really suit the dress, and I like that she went easy on the jewels…or rather, went jewel-less. There’s something weird going on in the crotch area…but I am willing to shrug it off as a photo-mishap.

ginnifer-goodwin-monique-lhuillier-met-2012

How gorgeous did Ginnifer Goodwin look in that Monique Lhuillier gown? So pretty, right? I wish she’d smile a little, and not look so annoyed and/or grim in photos. Come on, Ginny! It’s a ball! You have a pretty dress on! You’re dating an effing prince! Ok, not a real prince, but it still counts…I think. Either way, she’s still a fave of mine, and I love this dress (and the color) on her so much!

Best Dressed: White House Correspondents Dinner 2012

leslie-mann-white-house-dinner

Only once I was done putting together the photos of my Best Dressed picks from the 2012 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, did I realize that all the ladies represented are blondes. And as such, is this not the best fantasy Real Housewives cast you’ve ever seen? I mean, we’ve got funny ladies Leslie Mann and Elizabeth Banks (sisters in my script), their spoiled and angsty teenage niece Dakota Fanning (in a gorgeous Prada frock to boot), the adorable preggo girl-next-door Reese Witherspoon (who is secretly a backstabbing biatch), and Kate Hudson - a quirky hippie neighbor (like Phoebe, but rich…obvi). I would totally watch that show! Wouldn’t you?

Back to the clothes. I like what these ladies wore. Also…which housewife is most likely to have an on-camera breakdown? Which housewife is sleeping with Dakota’s teenage boyfriend? And WHY isn’t this a show already?

Style Fille: Ginnifer Goodwin at the White House

2012 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner - Arrivals

Last weekend, Snow White went to the White House, and she looked spectacular…in H&M. Rememeber H&M’s Conscious Glamour Collection? Yup, Ginnifer Goodwin rocked it at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner! I loved that dress at first sight, but when it came time to buying it, I chickened out. And now I wish I hadn’t. Oh, well, good for GG!

In other news, did you know that Snow White and The Prince were dating??? Ok, fine…I’ll stop with all the Once Upon A Time geeking out, but seriously. Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas are apparently an item, and I really dig that. I think Josh is a definite improvement over that American Pie guy…don’t you think?

Anyway…what do you think of Ginnifer’s H&M dress? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Style Fille: Lauren Conrad

lauren-conrad-pink-hair

Ok, so I probably shouldn’t admit this…but I am a big fan of Lauren Conrad’s style. The girl is always well put-together, chic, and appropriate. And by appropriate, I mean we’ve yet to see her cracked out, in a pair of stripper heels, and a negligee for an outfit…I’m looking at you, Cindy Lou.

Anyway, the point is…LC is looking cute as a button, and I love her pink-dyed hair, and that studded collar on her shirt…and sure, she wrote a book called “Fame Game”…but sometimes inspiration comes from strange places. And today that strange place is Lauren Conrad. Except she’s not a place, but a person. And this is getting too long and random, so I’m sorry. Enjoy LC’s outfit. You’re welcome.

Coachella Style 2012 – Weekend #1

coachella-diane-kruger-stripes

There are two Coachella weekends this year, so today’s celeb style round-up will focus on Weekend #1. I must say, comparing to the past few festivals, this year’s celeb sightings left me somewhat disappointed. The look on Pacey’s face above pretty much sums up my feelings about this year’s looks – one huge “meh”.

Apart from a few cute outfits (courtesy of Diane Kruger, Dree Hemingway, and Whitney Port), most celeb looks from Coachella 2012 were either too boring, too crazy, or plain stupid…looking. I must admit, I got zero summer outfit inspiration from this year’s Coachella-attending celebs. Zero. But perhaps you’ll feel otherwise.

Maybe the below looks from Katy Perry, Kate Bosworth, Lea Michelle, and Lauren Conrad will tickle your fancy? Yes? No? Maybe? Share in the comments.

Style Fille: Kate Bosworth

kate-bosworth-seafoam-skirt-isabelle-marant-sneakers

How much do you love this casual-cool outfit on Kate Bosworth?! Sweatshirt? Check. Isabelle Marant sneakers? Check. Ethereal pleated seafoam green skirt? Check. Sounds like a weird combination, but it works! Sure, I would probably chicken out and swap the sneaks for something more ladylike myself, but I still love that Kate went there.

Don’t get mad at me…but I just couldn’t resist posting yet another photo of Diane Kruger looking amazing. This time, in a Jason Wu cape. On anyone else, I’d be proclaiming that this look is very ”superhero mariachi”…but not on Diane. I really love it on her. A LOT.

Style Fille: Nicole Richie in Flare Magazine’s April 2012 Issue

flare-magazine-nicole-richie-april-2012

I don’t know about you, but I love Nicole Richie’s style. Her cool Cali boho aesthetic has appealed to me for years, and I truly wish I could pull it off with the same nonchalant ease that Nicole exudes. Needless to say, this month, I can’t wait to pick up Flare Magazine’s April 2012 issue, featuring Nicole on the cover. And what a gorgeous cover it is! Love the combination of mint + white + gold…will need to somehow incorporate it into my own wardrobe this spring.

What do you think of Flare’s April cover? Do you like it? Will you pick up the mag once the issue hits the stands? Share in the comments.

Style Fille: Miroslava Duma

As always, am in love with Tommy Ton’s street style photos from Fall 2012 shows for Style.com…or rather his photos from outside of the Fall 2012 shows. After clicking through the lot of them, I spotted a few photos of my fave Russian Style Fille – Mira Duma, in a variety of amazing looks. From office-ready, to winter-cozy, to perfectly 70′s.

I love that this girl can pull off pretty much ANY look, without looking like a fashion victim. I also love that Balenciaga leather jacket of my dreams (below on Mira’s friend), and the fact that I have the same vintage Chanel backpack as Mira. I don’t know why it’s even important, but for some reason it made me happy.

So, what do you think of Miroslava Duma’s fashion experiments? Which look of hers is your fave? And how in the world can I get my paws on those awesome leather overalls? If you know, share in the comments.

Style Fille: Diane Kruger in Derek Lam

Every time I see a new batch of Diane Kruger’s photos, I expect to be blown away…I guess most of the time, her steeze is right up my alley, so it happens a lot. Well, she certainly does not disappoint this time around. I simply adore her 10 Crosby Derek Lam skirt over dress outfit – the colors, the stripes, the floral print – it all works for me, and makes me want to mug her in some dark alley. Not for her money, silly! All I want is her clothes…and shoes! And though we can’t credit her with putting together this outfit per say (after all, that’s the way it was always meant to be worn), I still give her props for going with simple hair and makeup, and pairing the dress/skirt with those hot yellow heels.

What do you think of Diane’s eclectic look? Would you ever wear a skirt over a dress? Let me know in the comments.
