What I Wore: Easy Breezy

When the summer heat threatens to melt my face off, the only option in my closet that is actually AN OPTION is a breezy cotton dress. Well, going buck naked would also be quite breezy, but not very classy. Though still quite tempting.

This dress in particular is not even a dress, really. It’s a tank-top that cost me 10 bucks at H&M. And there you have it, folks – long tank top and no pants. Classy all the way.

So what about you? What do you wear in this sweltering heat? Let me know in the comments! But, please, whatever you do, don’t send me your nude photos. I get enough of those already. Just kidding. I don’t get nearly enough. So yeah, send them right over!*

I Wore: Tank/Dress – H&M; Shoes – Steve Madden; Necklace – Forever 21; Bag – c/o Ecco; Earrings – Grandma’s; Sunglasses – Ray Ban; Lipstick – Joe Fresh Fuschia

*Seriously, don’t!

Giveaway: Vaughan Mills New Media Challenge

If there’s one thing, fashion bloggers have in common it’s their love for shopping! Last month, the good folks of Vaughan Mills, loaded a bunch of bloggers onto their Free Shuttle bus at Union Station, gave each of us $100 to spend at the mall in one hour, and set us free. The rules were simple: buy the perfect(est) fashion find for $100 or less in one hour. All finds would then be judged by the Vaughan Mills Style Agents, to determine whose fab find was the fabbest. The winner would get $500 to spend at the mall. Easy, peasy.

From Union to Vaughan Mills, the trip was fun and enjoyable for all. People mingled, laughed, and revealed their shopping strategies. Before long, we were in front of neighborhood 5, and ready to begin our hour-long shopping sprees. Now this part got a bit more stressful. As some of you surely know, Vaughan Mills is huge! To get from one side of the mall to the other takes approximately 30 bajillion minutes, add to that the number of awesome stores to check out, and you’ll see how challenging getting your shopping done in 1 hour was for us.

No matter, I persevered, by running…and no, I don’t mean walking really fast…I was running for my life (and potentially $500), peeking into stores like Danier Leather, Holts Last Call, and Stylesense on my way. When the hour was up, I was back at the finish line, wearing my newly bought oversized Line Knitwear sweater ($40 at Holts Last Call), and a pair of Steve Madden wedges ($69 at Stylesense). Slightly over $100, but pretty amazing deals, nonetheless.

Chatting with the rest of the bloggers about their crazy shopping experience was part of the fun, Kristy of Monochromachic picked up a neon-bright BCBG jacket, Liv Judd of Lou Lou Mag walked away with a classic DVF dress, Fashionights Julio bought an all-leather clutch from American Apparel…it seemed that everyone had a great time speed-shopping that day. The winner – Joyce of Sparkly Playground – wowed judges with her animal print jumpsuit from H&M, and scored an awesome shopping treat for her hard work.

What a fun experience that was! Like ANTM + Survivor + American Gladiators combined, with a sprinkle of American Idol for good measure. But that’s not all! I was also given a $100 gift card to share with one of my readers…who won’t have to do his/her shopping manically in 1 hour…unless it’s your thing, then go right ahead.

What I Wore: The Baby-Sitters Club

Apparently, babies really like bulky necklaces. And if they get a chance to grab one, they won’t be likely to let go until it’s either off or pried out of their little hands. Same goes with hair. I’ve been learning so much about babies lately, thanks to my little baby nephew and our endless conversations, that consist mostly of “blah blah”, “goo goo”, and lots of funny faces.

Before I met him, I never really was a “baby person”, but I just cannot help but turn into mush every time I see him. I wore this outfit last week to babysit him, and ended up coming home with milk stains on my shirt, and drool on my necklace. Next time, I’m going to wear something printed to camouflage the imprints of his teeny fingers.

What I Wore: Striped Shirt, Denim Shirt – H&M; Jeans – Gap; Shoes – Steve Madden; Necklace, Bag, Cube Ring - Forever21; Sunglasses – Ray Ban; Belt, Ball Ring – The Bay

What I Wore: In My Shoes

I wanted to show you the whole outfit, but unfortunately…the rest of the photos came out blurry and out of focus…and no, the photographer wasn’t drunk, and yes, I should’ve let him use flash…le sigh. But in any case, here are my new lovely shoes!

They were extremely comfy when I bought them (thanks to the stretchy elastic bands), but now, after a couple of wears, they are actually slightly painful (thanks to not-so-elastic bands over my toes). I have to make sure to break them in before my trip – otherwise, I might end up barefoot in Milan, and that’s not a look Italians would appreciate (derelicte is so out). So far, I bought some Dr. Scholl’s shoe tape, and it seems to work ok. But I might actually have to resort to more drastic measures…all in the name of fashion. If you have some shoe tips, send them over, I’m curious to see if there’s something else I could do (short of bringing a pair of flip-flops along).

I Wore: Boyfriend Jeans – Urban Outfitters; Shoes – Steve Madden
