Wishlist: Missoni x Converse Spring 2012

missoni-converse-spring-2012

I love, love, love these Missoni for Converse Spring 2012 kicks! The colors are subtle and soft, the prints are (as expected) gorgeous, and the end result is fresh, clean, and awesome. As a huge fan of both Missoni and Converse, I actually can’t believe I still don’t own a pair. Probably because they are so hard to come by here in Canada. Sigh.

The Missoni for Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes will be available beginning April 14th at Missoni boutiques and select Converse First String retailers globally. All shoes will retail for $200.

Will you be buying?

Toronto Premium Outlets coming to GTA Summer 2013!

toronto-premium-outlets

Amazing news, my fellow shopaholics! Premium Outlets are expanding into Canada next summer!!! I almost fell off my chair when this email landed in my inbox.

Toronto Premium Outlets will be located in the Town of Halton Hills on Highway 401 at Trafalgar Road, adjacent to Highways 401 and 407. The new outlet center will house over 100 high quality outlet stores and is expected to be the Canadian entry point for selected upscale U.S. retailers and designer brands.

“Toronto Premium Outlets will feature an outstanding collection of many of the finest brands, offering value, quality and selection all in one convenient location,” said John R. Klein, President of Simon’s Premium Outlets division.  “We already welcome large numbers of Canadian visitors to our centers in the U.S. and look forward to serving these valued shoppers closer to their home. We see tremendous opportunity to introduce our top merchants to the Canadian market.”

If you aren’t familiar with Premium Outlets, I have three words for you: Prada, YSL, Dior…and Barney’s, Saks, Neiman Marcus, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo…and so many more outlets! Granted, we don’t know exactly which brands will make it across the border, but even a remote possibility of having a Prada outlet in Toronto is making me do a happy dance in my cubicle.

Construction is set to begin on April 25th, 2012. Are you ready to do some serious shopping? I know I am. Stay tuned for retailer announcements and more updates!

Making a mental note to stop by the nearest Jacob store to check out their spring arrivals, because from what I’ve seen so far – I like! Seriously, how gorgeous is that floral dress (above)?! Just imagine how fresh you’ll look at the office this spring…I’m imagining that right now. And that black and white Chanel-esque cuff? Need it!

Zara TRF April 2012 Lookbook

zara-trf-april2012-01

I’ve been really impressed with Zara lately. Even their younger line TRF (Trafaluc) is knocking it out of the park! When I saw that leather jacket above, it was love at first sight. I was due for a leather jacket upgrade, so I snatched it up and have been obsessed with it ever since. True story.

Now that the TRF April 2012 lookbook is out, I am also loving the mint-colored jacket, fringed white sweater, as well as that army jacket with leather sleeves. I mean if you live in Toronto, you can never have too many jackets…am I right, or am I right?

What do you think of Zara’s TRF April 2012 Lookbook? Any pieces that you simply must have? Share in the comments.

Style-Off: H&M Floral Pants

hm-floral-pants-blogger-style-off

This week, I am super excited to introduce Style Blog Style-Off, a new series of posts featuring some of my favorite brands (and products), and cool people that love them as much as I do!

Today’s style-off item is a pair of amazing H&M Floral Pants ($14.95) that I literally had to stalk for weeks on end…until they were finally mine! *insert maniacal laughter here* My friends Kim, Jo, and Septembre also seemed to love these kick-ass floral trousers, and happily obliged when I challenged them to a style-off. I told them to bring it…and they sure did!

So here’s where you come in! Take a peek at the looks below, and vote on your fave look (or looks). The winner gets the glory of being the first ever Style Blog Style-Off winner, and I’ll also buy them a drink…So obviously, the stakes are extremely high. And if in the process, you get some styling inspiration out of it – even better.

So what are you waiting for? Ready? Set. Vote!*

Shopping: Very

very-co-uk-dresses-2

Sponsored Post

I get a lot of emails from readers looking for a perfect Prom/cocktail/wedding dress that is cute, and won’t be seen on 20 other special event attendees. And usually, my reply would be to shop the nearby vintage stores, buy lesser known brands, or use one of those “reservation” services, so that you know that another girl won’t end up wearing the exact same outfit (this mostly applies to Prom attendees).

While researching my own honeymoon dress options, I was introduced to Very.co.uk - a UK-based department store that carries a multitude of brands, like Forever Unique (at many different price points)…and I was actually VERY impressed! From sequined stunners, to gorgeous printed maxis, to cocktail dresses for womenVery has a dress for everyone. And if you’re not one of the lucky few that reside in the land of Wills and Harry, you should also check out Very.com, which ships internationally and offers similarly great selection.

Are you looking for a special occasion dress this season? What do you think of Very’s offerings? Share in the comments.

Beauty: Maybelline Baby Lips

Maybelline-Baby-Lips-2

While hanging out backstage with the lovelies from Maybelline and Redken during Toronto Fashion Week, I was lucky enough to be gifted a few products to try at home. And if there was one item in that generous gift bag that I am seriously obsessed with a couple of weeks later…it’s BABY LIPS by Maybelline ($6.49).

Initially, I brushed it off as yet another Chapstick-like balm…but then I tried it, and my lips have not been the same since. Baby Lips’ moisturising lip renew formula with SPF 20 promises up to 8 hours of hydration for visibly renewed lips after only 4 weeks. In my case, I noticed the difference in just a couple of days! My lips felt softer, never chapped, and definitely “renewed”. And unlike other lip balms, I didn’t feel like my lips were addicted to the product, and didn’t look any worse when I didn’t reapply.

Initially, I got a freebie version in “Peppermint” flavour, but have also picked up the “Cherry Me” version for a little hint of colour. There are 6 different flavours/shades in all, including “Quenched”, “Grape Vine”, “Peach Kiss”, and “Pink Punch”, and I am determined to collect all 6.

If you need some lip-love this spring, don’t walk…run to your nearest drug store, because from what I hear, these babies are selling out like hot cakes.

Have you tried Maybelline’s Baby Lips? Are you a convert? Why or why not? Share in the comments.

Wishlist: Valentino Studded Flat Sandals

valentino-stud-flat-sandals

As I enter the final stages of my honeymoon prep, I am still stuck trying to find a pair of cute and comfy flats to bring with me. A pair that would go with all (or most of) my outfits, and wouldn’t mangle my feet. I’ve been looking for a while…when I saw them.

These gorgeous Valentino Studded Leather Flat Sandals ($845) are perfection in a pair of lovely gladiator-style flats. And if not for their ridiculously high price tag…they would be mine in a heartbeat. Alas…they are crazy expensive…and therefore will probably stay on my wishlist forever…or until it’s time for summer sales.

Don’t you just hate it when you find something perfect, and yet it’s still out of your reach? I think it’s time to start playing the lottery!

If you’re looking for a perfect gift for that special fashion lover who seems to have it all, look no further. Handmade by women in Swaziland who are living with HIV, these limited edition Lanvin Cotton Dolls ($400 each) are not only amazingly cute, they contribute to a great cause too. Percentage of proceeds from sale of these stylish dolls will go to Dessine L’Espoir – a charity that “assists individuals and communities living with HIV/AIDS and the resulting impact by providing support in the form of home-based care, medical, food and shelter and psychological support; as well as running training programmes such as sewing workshops, offering financial assistance and establishing income-generating projects”.

Alberta Ferretti for Macy’s Impulse Lookbook

Alberta-Ferretti-Macys-Impulse-Collection-Pictures

When I stumbled upon these lookbook photos from Alberta Ferretti’s collaboration with Macy’s Impulse…I pretty much squeeled with excitement. Set in Positano, Italy…these photos are the essence of what I hope my wedding getaway will feel (and look) like. I’d like to imagine that this entire lookbook was shot with my honeymoon in mind!

Everything in the Alberta Ferretti x Macy’s Impulse collection is priced between $49 and $119, and will be sold at 185 Macy’s locations across the US starting April 17.

With that said…me thinks a trip to Buffalo is in order. Who’s with me?

For the first time ever, the company will offer:

Toronto Fashion Week: Pink Tartan Fall 2012 Collection

pink-tartan-fall-2012

Peplums, and feathers, and fur sleeves…oh, my! Pink Tartan Fall 2012 was full of fun details, great styling (no surprise, as it’s rumoured to have been styled by Flare’s Liz Cabral herself), and lots (and lots) of wearable pieces. From dramatic makeup (those lips!), to dramatic silhouettes…I was really into it all.

Some of my fave pieces included a wine red blazer with black patent detailing (a must-have for next fall), bold green peplum top and matching pants, as well as that green leather skirt with sheer panels. Simply divine.

And though I didn’t find Pink Tartan’s fall collection to be breathtaking (that honor goes to Lucian Matis), I am certain that its wearability will prove a huge success on the retail side of the equation…and I’ll definitely be spending my hard-earned cash on a couple of pieces myself.

What do you think of Pink Tartan’s Fall 2012 collection? Share in the comments.
