Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster Party at The Bay in Toronto!

The Bay is clearly ON FIRE this month! After hosting the lovely designer Sam Edelman two weeks ago, the magnificent department store welcomed not one, but two uber-talented British shoe designers at Toronto’s newly renovated “largest in Canada” shoe floor – Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster.

Having met Kirkwood a couple of years ago at the same location, I felt pretty lucky to get another chance to chat with this young and inspiring designer. He was just as approachable and easy to talk to as he was back in 2010, and as you can tell from that pic above, we are now BFFs for life! True story*. I also got to meet Sophia Webster, who used to be Kirkwood’s design assistant, and who has obviously learned a lot from her mentor – her shoes, just like his, are truly drool-worthy and must find their way to my wardrobe one of these days…soon.

Like most parties at The Room, this one was THE place to be if you’re into people-watching, what with stunning clothes, beautiful shoes, and notable attendees like Bonnie Brooks (in a pair of Kirkwood zig-zag shoes), Greta Constantine designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong, Suzanne Rogers, Stacey Kimel, and Kim Tanenbaum, mingling with the guests of honor, who were both swarmed by an army of adoring fans for the majority of the night.

I know I’ve said this before, but if you still haven’t been to the gleaming new shoe floor at The Bay (Queen St and Yorkdale), then you are truly missing out. Even without designers in attendance, the shoe department is a sight to behold…and a place to find the most amazing shoes. My BFF Nicholas Kirkwood totally loved it and so will you.

*Not a true story

Sam Edelman Visits The Bay in Toronto!

pike-the-bay-sam-edelman-shoe-event-1

Last week, I put on my snazziest Sam Edelman boots and went to The Bay to meet the man of the hour himself. Dressed in a camo-print jacket and a friendly smile, Mr. Edelman addressed the quickly-gathering crowd of obsessed shoe fanatics, sharing his favourite trends for Fall 2013 and answering burning questions. After the Q&A, shoppers got a chance to meet the designer, snap some pics with him, and have their Sam Edelman purchases autographed on the spot. After letting his most ardent fans get their fill, my fellow co-host Sharon and I sidled up to Sam and got a chance to finally meet him! What impressed me most about the designer, is that he appeared totally engaged and uber-personable, taking his time talking to people, listening to them, and sharing personal advice too! I know that it sounds like common sense, but oftentimes, that is not the case. So, hat’s off to you, Sam!

Cocktails and yummy bites were passed around, music was blasting, and Sharon and I, managed to sneak in some shopping, between all the dancing and chatting – how’s that for multitasking? We also met a few of our readers, snapping pics for their own blogs and trying on shoes. It was a blast! Two hours later, the event was over, and I couldn’t believe how quickly the time has passed.

If you still haven’t stopped by The Bay’s magnificent new shoe department (the ones at Yorkdale and Queen St are my faves!), then you are seriously missing out. Stocked to the brim with every kind of shoe candy imaginable, The Bay’s shoe floor can rival any other shoe department/store in the world – even Sam Edelman said so! With more seating, more mirrors, and The Bay’s brand new shoe-logistics system (they can check if your size is available right away on a little machine before sending your size up via a special conveyor belt!), there really is no reason to make any other shoe-shopping stops…ever.

Did you stop by the Sam Edelman party at The Bay last week? Love The Bay’s new shoe department? Share your thoughts in the comments!

The cat is finally out of the bag! Hudson’s Bay Company joined forces with Converse to create one of the coolest pieces of Canadiana I’ve ever seen…actually, three of them! Ever since I laid my eyes on these beauties during The Bay’s Holiday 2013 preview, I have been dying to share the news with you, and now I finally can!

“Available in the Converse unisex Jack Purcell, Duck Boot and women’s Helen silhouettes, each style embodies the Hudson’s Bay Company wool point blanket stripes, features threaded stitching and antique brass eyelets, and includes the Jack Purcell and Hudson’s Bay logos on the foot bed. These silhouettes also carry an official “Seal of Quality” maintaining the authenticity of Hudson’s Bay Company. Additionally, the Jack Purcell Duck features a leather collar and heel stay, as well as embroidery on the tongue of the shoe, generating an elevated style that merges these two iconic worlds.”

The Converse Hudson’s Bay Company Jack Purcell collection will be available for purchase exclusively at Hudson’s Bay Stores, with prices ranging from $120 to $140 starting September 1, 2013. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be getting up extra early that day to snag a pair for myself and for le bf too!

What I Wore: Leather Weather

If you didn’t know already, The Room at The Bay is on major sale right now! Shoes, clothes, you name it – all 60-70% off! It’s during this semi-annual event I snagged this beautiful jacket from Mikhael Kale, and my new fave pair of shoes from 3.1 Phillip Lim. These shoes look like a mix of medieval knight’s shoes and gladiator sandals, and for some reason I just can’t get enough. And while this summer has been a crappy one so far, the silver lining is me wearing my beloved leather jackets in July. Blue leather and knight shoes is what my summer’s going to look like. Hope you’re ready for it.
