Wishlist: Aldo Trejos

Remember these ads? Well, the shoes I’ve been coveting are now in stores! Hooray! They are called Aldo Trejos…and they are perfectly adorable. Here’s hoping that they are also comfortable…although when has lack of comfort ever stopped me from buying a cool-looking pair of shoes? Never! That’s when.

Greta Constantine for Aldo Shoes Sneak Peek

Tonight, the uber-talented designers of Greta Constantine will be presenting their Spring 2012 collection, and I hope that we’ll be seeing a sneak peek of their Aldo collab live on the runway! Flare gave us the first look at the newest Canadian designer collab with the homegrown shoe label this morning, and I’m loving it.

“While last season was a global trek, this season it’s about change and transformation.  We’ve been wanting to incorporate a thicker sole into all of the shoes we create. And so, for spring/summer 2012, we did just that. Something about a white shoe not only catches your eye but everyone else’s too,” shared design duo Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong, of their shoe inspiration.

What do you think about this new collab? Share in the comments.

Shopping: Mango Fall 2011

Last week, Mango Yorkdale held a shopping bash for its loyal customers, offering special discounts, refreshments, and a chance to shop Blogger Picks. Lovely Marta from With Love Gabrielle and yours truly, were asked to come into the store and select our favorite pieces from Mango’s fall collection, to be displayed as Blogger Picks…and I was only too happy to participate!

I had such a great time selecting Style Blog’s Blogger Picks…I probably went a bit overboard with the number of items chosen. Mango’s fall collection is so chock-full of awesome must-haves, that I couldn’t have had an easier task! Some of my faves included a lovely chunky knit sweater, a pair of very on-trend python jeans, leopard print sandals (which would look amazing with opaque tights), black blazer with leather sleeves, and lots more!

If you haven’t had a peek at the store’s Fall 2011 offerings, make sure to stop by soon…you won’t be able to walk away empty-handed.

Giveaway: Friends of Naturalizer (Free Shoes!)

We all know that Naturalizer shoes offer a great combo of style and comfort. But did you know that for the past two years, Naturalizer has been fortunate enough to support several inspiring charities through a program called Friends of Naturalizer, designed to give back to a charity that inspires and empowers women? This year, from September 29 through October 2, Naturalizer will be donating $1 from every shoe and handbag purchase – up to $20,000 – to Dress for Success - a charity created to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Pretty cool, right?

And what’s even cooler is that you, yes YOU, can help the company decide how the money will be used by voting at www.Naturalizer.ca for the program that inspires you the most. And one lucky voter will get to pick a free pair of shoes of their choosing* to take home! Interested? Here’s what you need to do to be entered:

1) Go to www.Naturalizer.ca to vote for your favorite Dress For Success Program (Suiting Program, Professional Women’s Group, or Success Summit). After October 2nd, just tell us which program you would choose.

2) Leave a comment below with your full name, email address, and program selected

3) RT this for extra entries: “Hey @styleblogca, I want a free pair of @naturalizershoe! #FON http://styleblog.ca/?p=11536

4) Contest is open to Canadian readers only

The contest will close on October 9th, 2012 (11:59pm). The winner will be randomly selected and announced on October 10th, 2012. Good luck, and happy voting!

And the winner is…Maria Ferreira! Thanks to everyone for entering, and look out for our next giveaway soon!

What I Wore: These Boots Were Made for Strutting

Last week was an awesome week! Why? I got a box with a pair of these beauties from Stuart Weitzman in the mail! Best-looking lace-up ankle booties I’ve seen in a loooong while! A combination of calf hair and multi-textured leather had me sold at first sight. Plus, le boyfriend loves them too…and that doesn’t happen too often!

And though I’m still gutted that summer is over…these babies will certainly make fall more enjoyable.

I Wore: Shirt – H&M; Skirt, Necklace – Forever21; Boots – c/o Stuart Weitzman; Ring – YSL; Sunglasses – Ray Ban; Bag – Prada

Wishlist: Alberto Guardiani Lipstick Pumps

What’s your initial reaction to these Alberto Guardiani Lipstick Heels? Mine was something like this: “HELLYESIWANTTHESESHOESTOBEMINERIGHTNOWRIGHTNOW!!!!!%*&*&$#&$#@^#@”

Maybe I could DIY these? I have plenty of old lipsticks lying around…and I’ll just have to be careful not to actually touch the floor with my faux-heels. Gliding on air would definitely come in handy right about now.

If you’re not so keen on my DIY idea (why not???), you can pick up a pair of these lovely pumps directly from the designer – Alberto Guardiani for all of $320 (also comes in black suede, and red patent). And as a bonus, you’ll get a free pair of extra lipstick heels in a color of you choice!

What’s your verdict?

Stuart Weitzman Canadian Celebrity Shoe Auction

If you ever wondered what it’d be like to walk a mile in celebs’ shoes, today is your lucky day! Well, technically, September 1st was your lucky day…but nevermind that.

Check out these kick-ass Stuart Weitzman  shoes, designed by a slew of Canadian celebs – from Jeanne Beker (“woman who lived in a shoe” shoe), to Rachelle Lefevre (“crossword” shoe) – all pieces are one of a kind, and can be yours for as little as $200! How? The Stuart Weitzman Canadian Celebrity Shoe Auction is being held from September 1st-September 21st, with proceeds donated to support the work of Ovarian Cancer Canada.

I love how creative these celebs were in designing their signature shoes…and just to add – they all did it themselves – with no help from the Stuart Weitzman folks whatsoever. Pretty impressive, right? And though it’s tough to choose a favorite – I would probably say that Rick Campanelli’s bright yellow shoes definitely made me smile. Which ones do you love?

To bid on your favorite shoe and read all about the inspirations behind the designs, please go to:

H&M Party Collection 2011

Just got this in my inbox, and could not wait to share! Hell yeah, H&M Party Collection 2011! I’m loving all the masks, and disco-inspired pieces so much! But the stand-out (for me at least) are those shoes with the golden heel – so very Pierre Hardy, but (dare I say) more fun.

So what do you think? Are you liking the sneak peek from this year’s H&M Party Collection?

Wishlist: Charlotte Olympia ‘Smoking Cat’ Shoes

If you know me, you know that I’m not a classic shoe girl. I am all about the quirk, and the wow-factor, and the extra-extra…and these Charlotte Olympia “Hello Kitty” Smoking Cat shoes definitely deliver on all counts. And though initially I was obsessed with the kitty wedge, right now, I actually think I prefer the flat version, which I’m sure I would wear all the time. I just know it.

Also, I own a black cat named Pepper…who looks a lot like these lovely shoes. It’s almost as if Charlotte was thinking of ME when designing these. Coincidence? I think not!

These babies will be available this fall at The Room at The Bay, and are going right on my holiday wishlist. Hint, hint…nudge, nudge.

What do you think? Crazy or crazy awesome? Take the poll below.

Holidays 2011: Aldo Ad Campaign feat. Lily Donaldson and Matthew Gray Gubler

Are you seeing what I’m seeing? These amazing photos of Aldo’s Holiday 2011 Ad Campaign are giving me the “I need it now” shakes. The glittery heels that Lily Donaldson is rocking below? Ah-mazing. And those Miu-Miu-esque star pumps above have me starry eyed, and getting my wallet ready for some damage.

What do you think about this new campaign, featuring model/actress Lily Donaldson and Criminal Minds’ cutie Matthew Gray Gubler? Personally…I love. Can’t wait till they are available!

PS. Aldo just confirmed that these shoes will be in stores sometime in October. Only 3 months to go!

Wishlist: Hunter “Lapins” Lace Up High Heel Rubber Boots

I know that we just got our first taste of summer this year, but I’m already moving on to fall. Mostly, because I live in Canada, and the truth is – sooner, rather than later, cold weather will prevail…no matter how hard I stomp my flip-flopped feet.

And this fall season, I seriously want to stomp around in these hawt babies. Hunter “Lapins” Lace-up High Heel Rubber Boots ($225 USD, also come in Dark Olive and Navy). You read it right. HIGH. HEEL. RUBBER. BOOTS. Where have you been all my life?

The hunt for these Hunters is now in full effect. If you live in Toronto, and know where I can acquire these babies, please be a pal and let me know. Because as much as I love these boots, I don’t think I’m ready to buy them online just yet. What if they don’t fit? What if…Ok, yeah…the only concern for me here, is whether or not they will fit. That’s all.

So what do you think about these? Is it too early to care? Are they hideous? Are they lovely? Let me know what you think in the comments, or do the poll-thing below.

These boots are...

Converse Fall 2011 Collection Preview

I adore checking out Converse previews…spring or fall, I love them all! For next season (aka Fall 2011), DC Comics collab is back full throttle, and I will definitely be picking up the Batmobile pair for my year-old nephew. Marimekko collab will also continue for fall, with signature prints and bright colors. Just looking at those makes me feel happy.

And though the women’s collection showed some promising styles and colors, my favorites this season came from the men’s collection. While the main silhouette remained classic, elements like leather laces, zippers, and fun fabrics were introduced for fall. In my opinion, leather Chucks would be a perfect addition to any man’s shoe closet, and there was no shortage of those at the preview (in grey, camel, black, and more). Another cool thing I noticed, were the abundance of winter styles, rangingfrom the classic Chuck silhouette to the winter-boot-looking styles, lined with faux fur for extra warmth. This way you don’t ever have to stop wearing your Converse shoes, rain or shine.

What do you think about Converse Fall 2011 looks? Share in the comments.

Friday Faux Pas: Jeffrey Campbell Fruit Slice Heel

Friday Faux Pas is back! Yay?

This week’s faux pas is Jeffrey Campbell’s knock-off of Charlotte Olympia’s amazing “Bananas Is My Business” fruit pumps. Yeah, yeah, JC is known to copy other designers, and then selling his shoes for less. But in this case, blatantly copying something so original and unique (or at the very least recent) is definitely disturbing. And though his fruit bowl shoes look like a sad, sad…saaad version of Charlotte Olympia’s gorgessity (clear plastic, really?), I still can’t believe that Urban Outfitters agreed to carry these in their stores.

So what do you think? Are these knock-offs a buy or a faux-pas? Take the poll below.

Wishlist: Chanel This, Chanel That

Apart from the 2.55 in classic black caviar leather, most Chanel pieces that I find myself coveting are the borderline crazy ones. Case in point, when The Coveteur posted their Jen Brill profile today, I was once again reminded that the Matryoshka bag is still not in my closet, nor do I own a pair of lightbulb-heel stilettos – both objects that I don’t necessarily need…but oh-so-want! Unfortunately, due to the fact that these items were super exclusive to begin with (not to mention unaffordable), chances of me ever adding these pieces to my wardrobe are slim to none, unless I rob Jen Brill that is (where does she live again?). So the moral of the story is - if you can’t afford the real deal, DIY!

And now if you’ll excuse me, I have some lightbulbs to glue to my shoes.

One more SHOT after the jump!
