What I’m Wearing: Russia vs. Canada

Last night’s “epic” game was way too painful to watch. At least for me. I went in truly believing that no matter which team won, I’d still be happy, since I am a Canadian of Russian descent. It’s a win-win, right? Wrong! Sitting at a St. Louis, surrounded by a sea of jersey-clad Team Canada fans, I felt a little sad for Team Russia, and though I dressed to represent both teams – Russian Matryoshka tee with a Canada Cowichan sweater on top, I found myself gritting my teeth when Canada scored not 1, not 2, but 3 goals in the first period and the only one in the entire bar to leap for joy when Russians scored! I guess, so much for neutrality.

Still, I would have to admit, Canadians played really well. Much, much better than during their game against the US. As for the Russians…they just didn’t show up. Oh well, maybe next time…perhaps winning on home turf is what matters, and the team that really, really wanted it won? We shall see if it’s the case in Sochi.

I am wearing: Top – Zara; Men’s Sweater – The Bay; Rings – H&M

I love that Karl picked Russian model Sacha Pivovarova to be the face of the 2009 Paris-Moscow Pre Fall collection. Love the setting, love the photography, love Chanel!

Is she posing next to Pont Alexandre III? Will be there in 1 week! So excited!

Chanelling Russia

chanelmoscoumatyroksa

It doesn’t come as a surprise that the Fall 2009 collection for the French fashion house Chanel is largely inspired by Russia. There was so much French influence in Russia from the 1600s on, it’s about time the French were inspired by the Russians!

Adore the Matreshka Doll Bag! It’s certainly kitschy, but somehow it just works! But seeing how most accessories from the collection are custom order only, the prices are bound to be way out of most mortals’ reach. I don’t know anyone who would pay $1300.00 USD for a bangle…no matter how unique! So with that, the Chanel Paris-Moscow collection will just be something inspiring for me to look at…and covet.
