What I Wore: Apples and Oranges

Sorry for slow-mo posting this week…and for being horrid at responding to your emails. My brain is on vacation…so…yeah. You might also ask…”Why apples and oranges? There’s no fruit in sight!” Well, I was going to call this post Orange You Glad…but it turns out that I used that clever name already…so Apples and Oranges it is. Brain vacay…it’s a thing.

Anywhooo…Here’s what I wore last weekend for Pride in Toronto. A little bit of colorblocking, and the new fave shoes in my closet - Flare x Aldo collab wedges. Nice and summery. Short and sweet. Like this post.

Have a lovely weekend!!!

I Wore: Top, Skirt – Zara; Shoes – Flare x Aldo; Necklaces – H&M, Forever21; Backpack – Chanel; Rings – YSL, H&M; Bracelets – H&M, BCBG; Sunglasses – Ray Ban

What I Wore: Canada Day

First of all, I wanted to apologize for the amount of wrinkles on my shorts in these pictures. I can already hear you yelling at me for not being a good blogger, and posting these wrinkled-ass shorts pics. Well, in my defense…this is what cotton shorts look like after a three-hour-long drive to Lindsay. Yes, it took us three hours to get to Lindsay, ON last Friday. Three glorious hours of Ace of Base, Best of Backstreet Boys, some old school Puff Daddy, and Nana thrown in for good measure, with a dash of Bryan Adams Unplugged. It was either that, or Indian music, courtesy of my friend Donkey. Thanks, but no, thanks.

The reason for our trip to the mysterious faraway land of Lindsey was to visit our friend Jo. She and her hubby had the crazy idea to relocate there (of all places), and this was our first attempt at being good friends and visiting the fam.

Truthfully, it wasn’t all that bad. Lindsey, I mean. Yeah, it was way too far for my liking, but the fact is…the beach is a quick drive away, Kawartha’s best ice-cream is the most delish thing I’ve had all summer, and there is something very charming about a neverending backyard. So, after some hot dogs (yum), Barefoot Bubbly Moscato Spumante + Pom Juice Cocktails (yummy), some homemade smores (yummier), and the most amazing…no, seriously, the creamiest ice-cream ever…I was ready to move right in.

Instead, I was dragged back to Toronto, kicking and screaming. Until next time.

PS. According to le boyfriend, this is not a Canada Day outfit…this is a Poland Day outfit. And though technically, there’s no such day, I would never be able to convince the stubborn Aries otherwise. So yeah, I looked like the Polish flag on Canada Day. Quick, call the Prime Minister!

What I Wore: Fancy Pants

When I saw these pants at Macy’s (old lady section) earlier this month, it was love at first sight. Damask print? Check. Ankle lengh? Check. Breezy cotton for the summer? Check. Perfection in one old-lady-pant package. Don’t you think? I think, life is too short to be wearing boring pants. So from now on…my mission in life is to wear as many “fancy” pants as possible. So far so good?

I Wore: Pants – Charter Club for Macy’s; Tank Top – H&M; Denim Jacket – c/o Levi’s; Shoes – BCBGeneration; Necklace – Forever21; Bracelet – Urban Outfitters; Backpack – Chanel; Sunglasses – Ray Ban

What I Wore: Stars and Stripes

My entire outfit here is comprised of thing acquired in the last month of so (backpack and sunglasses excluded). My new favorite - J.Crew skirt, the kick-ass grey suede Ash boots (via Outnet), and a statement Kate Spade necklace…love them all. Most of these purchases were also a result of my birthday/shopping trip to NYC with my girlfriends, which I must say, was very successful (shopping-wise).

I wore this to the grand opening of the newest (and only) authentic French bistro on Bloor’s mink mile – La Societe. The decor, the food, and the fish bar were all very seductive, and I cannot wait to come back for a proper dinner (the foie gras crostini were heavenly). Finally, something exciting (food-wise) around the Yorkville area…because I always seem to end up at Sushi Inn.

In any case, brace yourselves for more of my NYC-found buys, more giveaways, and exciting posts. No more slacking for me…well, not for now, at least.

I Wore: Sweater, Skirt – J.Crew; Boots – Ash; Backpack – Chanel; Necklace – Kate Spade; Rings- Forever 21, H&M; Sunglasses – Ray Ban

What I Wore: Summer Uniform

Remember my winter uniform? Well, this is my summer one. For the times when I’m too tired, too lazy, or simply have one of those “nothing to wear” days, this is what I put on. Simplest formula ever: dress (maxi, mini, midi, whatever) + denim jacket + sandals + Ray Bans…tah dah!

I’ve been getting tons of compliments on this denim jacket. And I’ve also been wearing it pretty much non-stop for over a month. It’s Levi’s – the classic trucker jacket. I have the same one in a darker shade of blue as well. You can never have too much of a good thing, right?

So, I’m curious to know. Do you have a summer uniform? What’s your easy-breezy-summer–dressing-formula? Share in the comments.

Lenscrafters RxHIBITION Event with Mena Suvari

Did you know that only 11% of the glass-wearing population actually get prescription for their sunglasses? Not a presription wearer myself, I can’t imagine spending a hot summer day sunglass-less, squinting and not protecting those peepers from the harmful UV rays. Well, Lenscrafters has a perfect solution for you, squinty eyed person with vision problems. Their RxHIBITION program allows you to replace the lenses of your Lenscrafters sunglasses with prescription ones, quickly and efficiently. You should also know, that if you buy eyewear from Lenscrafters, on top of lovely service and great selection, you will also be getting a 90-day unconditional guarantee, one-hour service, and free adjustments and cleanings for those brand new (sun)glasses of yours! Sounds like a damn good deal to me.

Lenscrafters  carries a vast variety of brands for every personality out there: D&G, Burberry, Ray Ban (my faves), DKNY, Tory Burch, and many more. You can even take an online quiz, just like the attendees of the RxHIBITION event did, to determine which eyeglass frame personality type you are. I, myself, was deemed a Style Maven (ha!), though I usually tend to gravitate towards the Classic Wayfarer look more often than not. Either way, the quiz is quick and fun, and helpful, especially if you are cripplingly indecisive.

The event’s gorgeous hostess - actress Mena Suvari - attended last week’s event, sharing that she’s a longtime fan of Lenscrafters, and prefers the classic shades like Ray Ban, herself. And though Mena had lasik eye surgery to fix her vision problems, she still rocks her fave Lenscrafters sunglasses all year long.

So tell me, do you use prescription sunglasses? I’d love to hear your stories!

What I Wore: The Cat’s Pajamas

Lately, I’ve been straight up obsessed with pajama pants. Ok, maybe not actual pajama pants, but pants that strongly resemble the said loungewear piece. What’s not to love? They are comfy, breezy, and super cool (at least in my mind)…le boyfriend has his own opinion on this one.

This pair is from Zara, and I love how it billows in the wind, creating almost a maxi-skirt-like effect. Breezy, I’m telling you!

So what’s your take? Should pajama-looking pants stay indoors? Let me know in the comments!

What I Wore: Like Dandelion Dust

Can someone please tell me why dandelions are considered a weed, and carnations are still called a flower? I really don’t get it. Personally, I am a huge dandelion fan. Seeing those fuzzy-looking yellow flowers popping up all around the city is a clear sign that summer is on its way, and sunny days are ahead. This year, I’ve been extra sun-deprived (exhibit one: see my corpse-colored legs above…no photo-editing was performed…they really are that grey), so I’m thinking that I’ll have to resort to self-tanners.

Any good ones out there that won’t turn me into a Snooki lookalike? Something drastic must be done to take care of this grey skin situation. Some girl on the subway actually gave my legs a disgusted look…though it might’ve been directed at the suspicious looking puddle on the floor…but I think it was my legs. So…any advice, short of hiding in a basement until winter rolls around again? Help!

What I Wore: The Fast and the Furryous

Have you seen Get Him to the Greek? If you haven’t, you might be a bit confused…if you have seen it, below is my interpretation of “Furry Walls” by Infant Sorrow (huge fan here).

When the world slips you a Jeffery,
Stroke the furry vest,
Stroke the furry vest,

Furry vests don’t bring me down,
Furry vests please stay around,
Furry vests,
Furry vests

Furry vests kiss me to sleep,
Furry vests please help me read,
Furry vests,
Furry vests

Furry vests can take you on a magic carpet ride,
Furry vests surround you till you got no place to hide,
Let your furry fingers be your guide

Furry vests turn out the light,
Furry vests please stay the night,
Furry vests,
Furry vests

Maybe I’m in heaven with the furry skies above,
All around are furry clouds, look, here’s a furry dove,
Let me stroke your furry vests of love,
Furry vests,
Furry vests

PS. Moral of the story? Furry vests rock!

What I Wore: The Baby-Sitters Club

Apparently, babies really like bulky necklaces. And if they get a chance to grab one, they won’t be likely to let go until it’s either off or pried out of their little hands. Same goes with hair. I’ve been learning so much about babies lately, thanks to my little baby nephew and our endless conversations, that consist mostly of “blah blah”, “goo goo”, and lots of funny faces.

Before I met him, I never really was a “baby person”, but I just cannot help but turn into mush every time I see him. I wore this outfit last week to babysit him, and ended up coming home with milk stains on my shirt, and drool on my necklace. Next time, I’m going to wear something printed to camouflage the imprints of his teeny fingers.

What I Wore: Cousin Itt

I adore my new Old Navy coat! Have been wanting something “camel” for a while now, and now, thanks to Old Navy Canada, I got it! Have you checked out their coat section lately? I believe most coats are 30% off in stores right now, and the variety is pretty amazing. This one is lightweight, with a removable faux-fur collar, and also comes in black. Most people that have seen it, cannot believe that it’s from Old Navy! But it is, and I love it!

Same day I got the coat, I stopped by H&M and picked up this hat, and circle scarf (at children’s department). I was so happy with my hat purchase, until I took some photos in it. As soon as my mom saw the photos, she could not stop laughing…the scarf + the hat + sunglasses + the hair = Cousin Itt in her mind. Well, I don’t mind if it brings uncontrollable laughter a smile to her face. To me, this coat and this hat scream 70s. Perhaps, I’ll re-think the scarf and the sunglasses next time around.

And speaking of Cousin Itt…have you figured out what to wear for Halloween? I think, I’m going to shop my closet for a costume this year. I can’t stand the sight of those polyester (Sexy Nurse/Cop/Schoolgirl) costumes. Any fun ideas?

What I Wore: Coat – Old Navy (courtesy of Old Navy); Top – Club Monaco; Pants – Forever21; Hat, Scarf – H&M; Bag – Prada; Shoes – Winners; Sunglasses – Ray Ban

What I Wore: Unbelt My Heart

These photos were taken a while ago, actually. Back when wearing a jacket wasn’t really necessary, but I did it anyway, because I missed wearing jackets, after an entire jacket-less summer. I got this one from Gap a few years back on sale, and I’ve loved it ever since. Military is, of course, a pretty big trend this fall, but I like this jacket in particular because it fits so damn well, it’s lightweight and comfy, even when I don’t have to wear a jacket. Is that confusing you? Sorry, it’s been a tiring week.

Also, I think this was the first time I ever wore a belt with a jacket. I kinda liked it aesthetically, but it’s the most awkward thing when you have to take off your belt in order to take off your coat inside a sushi restaurant. I mean, it actually felt as if I was taking off my pants, or something. And then, once the belt is off, where do you put it??? Do you just hang it on the back of your chair? Or do what I did, and roll it up in a ball, and stuff it hurriedly into a jacket pocket? I don’t know the rules of jacket+belt wearing, but I do know that perhaps in order to avoid seeming gauche, it’s best to just keep the darned jacket+belt combo on the entire time? What do you think?

What I Wore: Bella Venezia

Lots of people told me that Venice is not worth it, that it’s smelly, dirty, crowded, overrated, and not very special. Well, I guess opinions are just opinions, no offence to my friends, but I really loved Venice. Mostly because we spent most of our time away from the tourist attractions, and stuck to the smaller streets…wandering, exploring, getting lost and loving it.

Have you ever been? In my opinion, it’s worth every penny.
