Shopping: Apartment 909

Apartment 909
909 Dundas St. West

Not only can Dundas St. West brag about a few of Toronto’s best brunch places (see Hoof Café and Saving Grace), but as it turns out the shopping isn’t that bad either. Apartment 909 is a little vintage shop at 909 Dundas St. West, full of very nice surprises! From mint-condition vintage Dior and Gucci bags, to beautiful Lanvin dresses, the lovely shop-owner Beth is happy to show you the treasures she has in store. Prices are very reasonable. I mean, very very reasonable. Where else can you get a genuine crocodile skin Pierre Cardin clutch for around $300? Or that same Dior purse for under $200? For the condition those goodies are in, and for the selection Apartment 909 carries, it is very well worth a trip.

Some of the brands available at the store include (but are not limited to) Vivienne Westwood, Ungaro, Lanvin, Chanel, Pucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Helmut Lang, J.P.G., Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. On my last visit, I picked up a pair of dead stock Marc by Marc Jacobs red jelly shoes. Perfect size, perfect fit, never been worn, and so very lovely. I would’ve been crazy not to jump on those! And there are so many other gems in that store, like an entire wall of vintage ladylike purses, and bundles of beautiful printed scarves.

So next time you’re in the area, having delicious brunch, make sure to stop by Apartment 909, and check out their amazing selection. Make sure to bring some cash, as credit and debit cards are not accepted. And if you do stumble upon a lovely find, make sure to brag and share some pics with us!

SATC2 Style: Carrie Bradshaw Poster

Please don’t hate me for liking this poster, but I really think, though outrageous, this poster is way better than that disco-ball-Barbie-disaster. Is it practical to tromp around the desert in high heels? No, it’s not. But Sex and the City’s (both movie and show) clothing choices have never been about dressing for reality nor practicality, pushing the boundaries and giving us, regular folk, a chance to marvel at something a bit more out there than what we’re used to instead. And for that reason, I think I like this poster, even if SJP is airbrushed within an inch of her life. May 27th cannot come soon enough!

Rachel McAdams in White

Premiere+Time+Traveler+Wife+Inside+Arrivals+kP-BZNh_p_tl

I’ve been all about the dark tones lately, stocking up on my fall wardrobe items in different shades of grey and black (does black even have shades?). Anyway, first there was Emma Roberts at Teen Choice Awards, rocking the sh*t out of that white Monique Lhuillier sheath, and now there’s Rachel McAdams. Love Rachel McAdams! Not because she’s a fellow Canadian, but for reasons much more superficial…she’s so freaking gorgeous! And that, no doubt, means that she must be super nice as well, right?

Rachel showed up to the NYC premiere of Time Traveler’s Wife in this stunning white (Pucci?) dress. The plunging neckline is very bold, and even though she’s not really that good at posing (ever), the dress really stands out. Love the draping and the long sleeves (keeps it from looking too revealing). Doesn’t this kinda remind you of last year’s Alexander Wang dress? I want! It would be understatedly sexy for someone with no cleavage! Amazing for showing off the legs! I think I need more white in my wardrobe.
