Sometimes all it takes is a couple of classic pieces to make an outfit. It also helps if you’re Nicole Richie. That girl has an innate ability to make things look cool. Nicole sticks to her favorite Balenciaga, throws a denim jacket over a boho dress, and a pair of aviators to top it all off, and voilà – instant chic. And to think that just a couple of years ago she used to be besties with Paras Hilton. Seems like a different life now.

Ok, so I should probably ease up with Nicole Richie here, but I really do love the things she tends to wear, both in her daily life and in photo shoots. Like in this one. Adore her Burberry styling…and most of all, love the location of her shoot – my favorite-est place in Paris – Pont Alexandre III. Nicole, Paris and Burberry…all so very lovely.

I’ve been obsessed with denim shorts this winter. Every weekend, I’m putting on a pair of thick tights/leggings and rocking a pair of cutoffs with my fave pair of boots. I also get a feeling, that come Spring, I’ll still be as obsessed with my new-found staple as ever.
Looks like Nicole Richie loves her short shorts too. But the way she wears them…No Daisy Duke/Jessica Simpson in sight, the newly engaged Nicole actually exhudes arty hippie-ness, instead of overt sexuality, and I love it. The Winter Kate crochet vest adds some quirk to an otherwise crisp and conservative white shirt. What’s not to love?

You’ve got to love Nicole Richie for changing her party-girl ways to not only seemingly kick her bad habits to the curb, but also to become a mother of 2 adorable children, as well as a successful jewelry and maternity clothes designer. What’s next for Nicole? Why a clothing line, of course! And unlike other celeb lines, this one actually makes a lot of sense to me. Nicole’s style, an unmistakable mix of hippie chic and LA cool, is loved by many. The girl definitely has style. And if you think that hers can be attributed to having lots of money, just take a look at Nicole’s ex-bff Paris Hilton. She has money too! Does she have style?
The 37-piece collection, called Winter Kate, will hit high-end retailers beginning February 2010, and, according to WWD, will be inspired by Nicole’s “favorite animals, including peacocks and other birds. The line includes mostly tops, vests and bed jackets in colorful vintage-inspired silk, crepe and chiffon because these tops are a mainstay of Richie’s own wardrobe.”
I have high hopes for Winter Kate so far. Do you?
