Style Fille: Miranda Kerr

As if I needed another reason to envy Miranda Kerr…what with a hot hubby Orlando Bloom, the cutest baby ever, and a smoking-hot Victoria’s Secret-approved bod (post-pregnancy no less!)…she’s the girl that has it all. Her awesome style is just a cherry on top.

Loving this black on black ensemble that she wore the other day. It’s super simple too: pleated maxi skirt, topped off with a quilted leather jacket, and a fedora. Simple and chic! And that ah-mazing red purse? A cherry on top! (What’s with me and cherries today?)

Do you like Miranda’s outfit? Craving cherries? Hate this post? Let me know in the comments.

Holidays 2011: Aldo Ad Campaign feat. Lily Donaldson and Matthew Gray Gubler

Are you seeing what I’m seeing? These amazing photos of Aldo’s Holiday 2011 Ad Campaign are giving me the “I need it now” shakes. The glittery heels that Lily Donaldson is rocking below? Ah-mazing. And those Miu-Miu-esque star pumps above have me starry eyed, and getting my wallet ready for some damage.

What do you think about this new campaign, featuring model/actress Lily Donaldson and Criminal Minds’ cutie Matthew Gray Gubler? Personally…I love. Can’t wait till they are available!

PS. Aldo just confirmed that these shoes will be in stores sometime in October. Only 3 months to go!

Style Blog on Breakfast Television!

Remember that time I signed up with the Ben Barry Agency? Well, here’s my very first job as an official model! Woo-hoo! Thanks to the talented stylist, and blogger extraordinaire, Julia Seidl of Stylehog, I got to strut my stuff and rock some cool summer clothes on Breakfast Television this morning along with some really gorgeous models! Outfits were provided by the Dixie Outlet Mall, and were under $150 for each (entire) outfit! Amazing, no?! Still reeling from all the excitement.

Can you spot me, hiding behind some huge sunnies in my 70s-inspired look? Now that I got my toes wet, so to speak, I can’t wait to do it all over again! Anyone looking for models?

“I’m a model you know what I mean
And I do my little turn on the catwalk
Yeah on the catwalk on the catwalk yeah
I do my little turn on the catwalk”

Right Said Fred – Too Sexy

Don’t laugh, but I’m super-excited to share with you guys that I am now part of Ben Barry Agency’s amazing roster of models. Ben Barry Models represent fashion models of all ages, sizes, backgrounds, and abilities. Their goal? To create an inclusive and empowering fashion industry by helping brands authentically represent their consumers. We all know that consumers aren’t one size/age/ethnicity fit all. Every woman is beautiful in her own unique way, and it is imperative to have that beautiful diversity represented in the media. Ben Barry Models strive to do just that.

Last week, I finally got to have my test shoot, and I had THE.BEST.TIME! I got to style myself for the photoshoot, and I really enjoyed pulling the clothes for my outfits. I finally got to wear my Lanvin for H&M yellow dress, and boy, did I love wearing it!

And though, of course, I had a lot of fun being my own stylist/model for the day, I had a ton of help from other people…all props go to the amazing Liis Windischmann, who brought yummy snacks to keep us from passing out, provided valuable advice, and was there throughout the shoot to put me at ease, the brilliant photographer sisters Lily and Lilac, who guided me through the shoot with lots of encouragement, and of course, the beautiful make-up artist Boriana, who transformed me from blah to wa-wa-wee-wa. Thank you all for making this photoshoot an unforgettable experience! Can’t wait to see the final results of all the hard work.

As for what’s next? Not knowing is the exciting part. But if something cool happens, you’ll be sure to find out first, right here on Style Blog. Stay tuned?

I Wore: Alex Moto Jacket – Club Monaco; Striped Dress – Zara; Yellow Dress – Lanvin for H&M; Necklace – Forever21

H&M Conscious Collection

This morning, when I first got these photos of H&M’s new collection – H&M Conscious, I had to do a double take. Natasha Poly, white-heavy garments, romantic and pretty. Doesn’t it remind you of Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2011 show? Same model, similar-looking clothes…but much cheaper and sustainably made. Love it so much! Once again, I can’t wait to see all these pieces in stores!

Here’s what H&M had to say about this collection:

“Sustainability is a long-term trend at H&M. This April H&M, as part of its focus on sustainability, will introduce Conscious Collection, an ongoing range for women, men and kids, made from environmentally-adapted and greener materials such as organic cotton, Tencel® and recycled polyester. H&M’s designers have been inspired by different shades of white, one of the most important colours this spring. A minimalist, tailored look is combined with romantic lace, Broderie Anglaise, frills and draping. The Conscious Collection will be on sale in all H&M stores from April 14th.”

Friday Faux Pas: How Thin is Too Thin?

First of all, let me get this out of the way…I love Revolve Clothing. I love their product selection, their sales (Hello, D&G shoes for under $200!), their easy layout, and the fact that they ship to Canada (sometimes even for free). But something really bothered me a while ago, when I was browsing their site for the nth time. It wasn’t the fact that I missed out on that lovely Alexander Wang bag on sale, no, what bothered me was this bobblehead girl, with limbs as thin as my favorite egg tagliatelle from Buca. It was extremely unsettling seeing someone so unhealthy-looking, modeling clothes, while looking like a human hanger. Upon further prodding, I realized that said girl was featured in many other photos, looking slightly less scary when covered up, but shockingly thin in tank-tops and other revealing outfits.

What’s more, I realized that this sad-looking girl was also the same model who got picked on for being too skinny by the People’s Revolution maven Kelly “Don’t You Dare Effing Cry Inside” Cutrone during the one episode of The City that I ended up watching. I’m guessing that Kelly’s concern went unnoticed, seeing how this girl is still shockingly thin. But what’s more shocking than that, is the fact that she’s still somehow getting work.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not out to bully this particular model, or vilify the collective skinny, but my question is…how thin is too thin? Shouldn’t retailers realize by now that they aren’t promoting a healthy image, when booking models this skinny. And though some might argue that clothes look better on rail-thin girls, whose main job is to sell a product…In my opinion, models should look good in their outfits…and that would make me want to buy the clothes much more. It’s always a model in a size small or extra-small in the garment photo on every site, wouldn’t it be amazing if they had a medium, or…gasp…a size large model demonstrating how a particular item fits?

I guess, after a year, during which diversity was so widely celebrated, skinny is still the golden standard. And after getting so used to seeing the already thin girls at each and every online shopping site, I’m worried that eventually we’ll get used to seeing this as well. If we aren’t already. I’d love to hear your opinions on this. Take the poll below or leave a comment.

Having never been to a Reia sample sale before, I am not exactly sure what to expect, but the promise of amazing brands at 70% off sounds pretty darn good to me.

Reia Studio is located at 555 Richmond St. West, suite 706, Toronto, ON.

Lanvin for H&M – More Photos

I asked for color, and for shoes? Well, voilà! Vogue UK unveiled another photo of the stunning Lanvin for H&M collection this morning, and I am endlessly in love…Prices are definitely on the higher end of the H&M spectrum, but at 99GBP for each dress, 29GBP for gloves or bag, 25GBP for clutch or necklace – owning a piece designed by Alber Elbaz himself has never been more affordable. See you in line!

Lanvin for H&M – First Look

It seems that this morning everyone is buzzing with excitement over the release of the first look at the highly-anticipated Lanvin collaboration with H&M. So far, I am really into it! The black asymmetrical frock is a fave of mine, and is so typically Lanvin, that I can barely believe that this collab is actually happening. I do really hope that the collection has some signature Lanvin color, as well as some cute ballet flats. Though, I guess the shoe-thing won’t be happening with this particular collection. Either way…ladies, do you have your credit cards ready? I know, I do!
