What I Wore: Bundled Up

Most winter days, I have to fight with my own body in order to get dressed…I just never seem to be up to the dask of wearing actual clothes when it’s cold outside. All I want to do is stay under my duvet, wearing the comfiest of pjs, and if it was socially acceptable, I would probably wear my duvet outside of the house 5 days out of 7…just like this fancy lady.

Well, this Old Navy sweater is the closest I will ever get to wearing a duvet outside of the house. It is the coziest thing ever, and I simply love being wrapped in it…snug and comfy without venturing into the precarious Snuggie/Snuggle territory. Pretty cute, right?

So what about you? How do you deal with clothing anxiety in the winter? Or am I the only one suffering from it? Let me know in the comments.

What I Wore: Let the Rain Fall Down

You know, funny thing happened as I got older (and presumably, wiser) – I learned that sometimes, it makes sense to dress sensibly. I no longer NEED to wear the highest of heels during the winter months (I’m not in Texas anymore). I have learned (from many mistakes) that leather boots get ruined after just one season of salty slush, while simultaneously failing to provide any kind of warmth – especially, once said salty slush has somehow eaten away at the leather, letting the freezing water sneak its way into my socks. Thanks, but no thanks.

So last winter, I stuck to my Cougar rain boots all winter long. That’s right rubber boots in the winter. It’s true – they aren’t the warmest. But throw in a pair of wool socks, and you’ve got a pair of waterproof winterized boots! This winter, I am planning to wear rain boots a lot, so I figured I should get a dressier pair…and then…

…I saw them. Mel rain boots. Cute as a can be, ankle-length, and comfy to boot! Perfect with dresses, skinny jeans…pretty much anything, really. I don’t ever want to take these off…well, except for when I sleep…maybe.

What about you? What’s your go-to cold weather footwear? Share in the comments.

I Wore: Coat – Old Navy; Leggings – Target; Rain Boots – Mel (Urban Outfitters); Scarf – H&M; Bag – Prada; Sunglasses – Ray Ban

What I Wore: True Blue

Rainy weekend in Toronto – what better time to wear my new Vivienne Westwood x Melissa Lady Dragon shoes? Love them so much, but unfortunately, they are too small for my feet…and size up was too big! I think I’ll just have to keep them in their box to look at when I am feeling blue – those hearts would cheer me up in no time!

But I do wish, I could wear these shoes more often…they are just too cute! Oh well…maybe one day my feet would shrink magically? Anyone know a good foot diet?

I Wore: Shirt – Gap; Jeans – Urban Outfitters; Belt – Nine West; Sunglasses – H&M; Bag – Longchamp; Shoes – Vivienne Westwood for Melissa

Shopping: Balisi Shoes

I have a shocking confession to make…I have never shopped at Balisi. Scratch that…I have never shopped at Balisi until a couple of weeks ago. Why not? I guess I never knew that they carry such an awesome selection of cool and unique shoe styles. After searching high and low for a pair of Melissa x Vivienne Westwood Lady Dragon shoes, I (luckily) stumbled upon Balisi’s website, and promptly made my way over to their Queen Street location.

Not only was I pleasantly surprised by their extensive Melissa stock, but they also had non-rubber shoes galore! And, on top of that, the store was having a 40% off sale all weekend long. How cool is that? So not only was I able to satiate my plastic heart craving (it really is a sickness…help me?), but I got to drool over some really amazing pairs of shoes too. Not one to selfishly keep these beauties to myself, I thought I’d share some photos with you. All of these pairs (except for the creepy rat shoes) have tugged at my heart strings, but being a good girl that I am (yeah, right!), I walked away only with what I came for…not that it means that I won’t be making another trip to Balisi soon, because I will, as I’m definitely a convert…especially if they keep having these awesome sales…wink*wink*nudge*nudge.

PS. So these rat shoes definitely creeped me out. Totally the opposite of the cute Marc Jacobs “Mouse” flats, no? But still there was something very compelling about these, so I had to take a picture to share with you. Would you ever rock these or do they make your skin crawl?
