Zara Woman Lookbook May 2013

Is it me, or have Zara lookbooks lost their effectiveness? After seeing these shots, I could only focus my attention on the printed/brightly-coloured pieces, losing all interest in the plain ones. Why is that? Obviously, the simpler pieces are less eye-catching, but I think if they were styled and/or shot differently, I could just as easily be attracted to them…even if they look less flashy. Perhaps it’s because most photos do not display the entire look, but bits and pieces? Also…where are the shoes?!

Having said that, Zara is still one of my go-to websites to check for cool new arrivals, and that won’t stop anytime soon…I just wish their lookbooks were more exciting. Too much to ask?

Aldo Shoes Spring 2013 Collection Lookbook

ALDO’s ad campaigns never disappoint, and this one’s no exception. The fun and colourful images make me forget about this rainy week, and transport me to balmy summer days, when we can fire up the BBQ, lounge by the pool, and wear shorts and sandals!

And speaking of sandals…I’m obsessed with more than one pair of ALDO shoes right now. From their gorgeous ALDO Rise x Preen collab, to the cut-out ankle booties, to some plexiglass heels, I want them all! Oh…and let’s not forget about accessories! How cute are those pixelated sunglasses? I want one of each, please!

Wishlist: Charlie Jade Spring 2013 Collection

Last time I stopped by Mendocino, I noticed a beautiful printed maxi dress hanging on a rack. Curious to find out what brand the dress was, I took a closer look to find out that it was from Charlie Jade’s Spring 2013 collection. And while Mendocino has been my favourite stop for all things Clover Canyon, I think I’ll be adding Charlie Jade to my growing list of brands to watch. After perusing their website, I found more and more pieces to covet, like the flowy summer dresses and gorgeous boho tops, perfect for a hot summer. If it ever comes that is.

Zara Woman April 2013 Lookbook

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past month, you already know that Zara is (finally!) available online in Canada. And what good timing too, since all of the beautiful and colourful spring pieces have been hitting the stores and flying off the racks. But now that we have an e-shop, all we have to do is look at this sweet April 2013 lookbook, and select our fave pieces to watch out for this month. So easy!

On my personal wishlist is the above two-piece floral set, the yellow dress below, and a light blue pantsuit. And best of all, I won’t have to scour the racks to try and find these, because I can now buy them from the comfort of my laptop. Technology…gotta love it!

Good news, lovelies! H&M Conscious Exclusive collection will launch on April 4th worldwide! Following the success of H&M Conscious Glamour capsule, The Conscious Exclusive collection will consist of glam party attire and accessories for both men and women created from sustainable materials like organic cotton, recycled polyester, recycled polyamide, and Tencel. Prices will range from $19.95 – $399.00, making this collection an affordable way to add some Hollywood glamour to your closet.

“Old Hollywood comes alive with Conscious Exclusive, a collection perfect for celebrating the arrival of spring. Rich in detail and eloquent design, the collection is full of dramatic gowns and sharp tailoring for women, and a rock-and-roll, red-carpet style for men. A floor-length dusty pink gown is elegant from the front – and dramatic at the back, which is entirely open – and is made from 100% recycled polyester. The three-piece suit has been given a feminine twist, with a fitted blazer and fitted, high-waisted pants that zip at the ankle, in an organic cotton blend.

There are so many options for living the Hollywood life. Kate Young for Target Collection Ad Campaign!

With a few Target stores already open for business in the GTA, and many more in the works, I can finally get excited about a Target designer collab! Well, get excited AND be able to shop the collection without having to drive across the border. Kate Young for Target collection will be hitting the stores on April 14th, but in the meantime, we have some ad campaign images to peruse. Photographed by Terry Richardson, the campaign features Leigh Lezark, Hailey Gates, Nathalie Love, and Lily Kwong on the red carpet clad in Kate Young’s glam and quirky designs. My fave pieces from the capsule include the white tuxedo jacket below and all of the shoes, which would certainly become staples in my wardrobe.

Young, a stylist who dresses the likes of Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams created a collection of affordable (and wearable) red carpet looks, and is the first stylist to ever score a Target collab deal. “As a stylist, I wanted to create a collection that allows and encourages all women to create their own red carpet moments, no matter the occasion”, she shared.

Wishlist: Banana Republic’s Megan Draper-inspired Mad Men Collection

I don’t know about you, but I’m in love with Banana Republic’s latest capsule collection inspired by Mad Men’s Megan Draper. Co-designed by costume director Janie Bryant, the pieces certainly have that retro-feel, what with the mod shapes, geometric patterns, and short-ish hemlines – totally my steeze! Too bad the Zou Bisou dress didn’t make the cut. Maybe next time? Nevertheless, come February 27th, I will be making my way to a Banana Republic store to inject that 60′s flare into my spring wardrobe.

But let’s not forget about the boys…ahem…men. Menswear collection includes a couple of “Don Draper Casual Friday” looks, as well as a super sexy/super sleek blue suit, that I can’t wait to get for le bf!

Club Monaco Spring 2013 Lookbook Two

The weather-people are promising warm temperatures today, so why not pretend that it’s spring already and look at some lovely pieces from Club Monaco’s Spring 2013 Lookbook?!

This lookbook in particular is tugging at my heartstrings (and my pursestrings), because I’m becoming obsessed with all of the fun things I see here. Like that white ruffle dress, for example. It’s perfect, non? Simple, elegant, and I would wear it FOREVER…paired with the blue suede (?) moto jacket, of course.

Prabal Gurung for Target Lookbook!

Remember those photos from the Prabal Gurung x Target commercial being shot in NYC last year? Well, now we have the full lookbook from the collection to drool over. I am seriously considering making a trip down south to get a few pieces for myself, since we still don’t have Target in Canada. The collection will hit the stores on February 10th, and will range in price from $19.99 to $199.99 for apparel and $12.99 to $39.99 for jewelry, handbags and shoes.

H&M Spring 2013 Lookbook

It’s the new year, which means we can totally start looking forward to spring! So just in case you are currently staring at a pile of snow the size of your house and need a reason to cheer up, check out these photos from H&M’s latest Spring 2013 lookbook, featuring Magdalena Frackowiak. My fave pieces are black and white and striped (no surprise there), but the simplicity of a leather jacket over a white shirt is making me miss leather jacket weather all over again. Three more months to go, people. Just three more months until spring. The countdown is ON!
