2009 is officially over! But not before JLo could squeeze into the last faux pas of the year! Human hair jacket? Check. Sheer-ish crystal-adorned bodysuit? Check. Camel toe? Check. Making news all over the world for your god-awful NYE outfit? Priceless.

Who hasn’t received a bad Christmas gift? From bad wine to useless tools to bad chocolates, most of us have seen it all! So when I saw Style List’s guide to banned gifts (ones that will surely be re-gifted or forgotten or land you in a doghouse), I knew that I had to share it with you! The list is dead-on, and the alternatives offered are definitely much better substitutes to things like Fruit Cake (though Bacon Jam will never make it on my list). So if you still have some shopping to do, read on, and whatever you do, remember that, as cliché as it sounds, the worst gift you can possibly give is one without any thought put into it.
Umm, ok, I do understand that it’s Maison Martin Margiela’s jackets…but still. Garlands? Hmm. It might look like art to some, but to me, it screams kindergarten art project. Speaking of kindergarten, this is a great idea for one of those “Anything but Clothes” parties. Shouldn’t take too long to make. Thanks for the idea, Margiela!
I love IKEA wrapping paper! It’s red and lovely and…I love it! Only 9 days ’til Christmas! Only 1 more gift to go! And then…cookies, hot chocolate, and sweet holiday movies. Bliss!

Well, November is actually pretty much over, but the holiday season is still in full force! Thus this month’s H&M Shopping post is devoted to dresses, dresses, dresses…and some sweaters! There are always so many things I want at H&M that it becomes increasingly difficult not to go nuts and buy everything I try on, but thankfully some of the items aren’t available in my size – which is the only thing that stops me. Thank goodness for that!
This time around, I spotted lots of holiday-worthy dresses: golden lamé dresses, floral dresses ala Stella McCartney, and my personal favorite - black furry dress. The latter was so adorable, yet I didn’t buy it, because as per my worst fears, I ended up looking more yeti, than chic. Oh well.
I also must let you know that H&M is having an outerwear sale, with most coats and jackets going at 50% off! Hence, the below studded leather jacket is no longer $130, but a very affordable $65! That’s a pretty good deal for real leather and great fit! And my latest addiction – menswear shopping for myself is still not satiated, as I found more lovely sweaters this time around! The one with the wolf is an homage to the “3 howling wolves” t-shirt phenomenon. I hope it brings me luck in love, life, and everything else. It’s supposed to be magical, just read the amazing comments! More shopping posts are coming soon! Stay tuned!

I love Sasha Pivovarova! Not because she’s Russian like moi, but also because she’s a beautiful model, an artist and so much more! These Holiday ads are so much better because of her radiant smile, no? And the tall, dark, handsome and scruffy male model isn’t too bad either!

The Holiday Season is upon us! Joy to the world! Ho-ho-ho! Jingle Bells! Ok, I’ll stop. But seriously, it’s about a month till Christmas, and some companies have already started throwing their Holiday Parties! Are you ready for it? Do you have something cute to wear? And not just to the office parties, most of us have other fun soirees to attend – from family dinners, to girls’ nights out – your closet needs to be prepared for the worst best! As a result, most of my party clothes have been coming straight from H&M or Zara lately. And why not? Their dresses are always cute, and are always moderately priced, allowing me to spend more moolah on Christmas shopping instead! Funny story, I went to H&M the other day, looking to buy a sweater for le boyfriend. But as soon as I walked into the men’s section, I immediately fell in love with a few sweaters! Ended up buying two of them for myself (pics are coming), and zero for le boyfriend. And why not??? That’s one of the advantages we have over the boys: we can wear their clothes, but they can’t really wear ours! Ha! And that is what I meant when I said “Christmas shopping”!
So going back to party outfits, H&M’s website has been chock-full of style ideas lately, and it seems they are more than prepared for the throngs of ladies, looking for something cute to wear! And not only are their stores full of awesome party-worthy outfits, their website is too! I really like them all, but for different occasions, obviously. What about you? I went last weekend, and fell in love withall the winter clothes. Truth is, I’m a huge sucker when it comes to Christmas-inspired clothing. No, I do not wear reindeer sweaters ala Mark Darcy, but I do love red pajamas, white knitted sweaters, red plaid shirts, hats, scarves, mittens…anything that looks cozy, and wearable by a fireplace at a cottage on a ski snowboarding trip or Christmas morning. GapBody also has adorable undies, packed into tiny colorful little gift boxes that you could hang on a tree or use as stocking stuffers! Comfy robes, pjs, and so much more! I’m sure you’ve seen this Lanvin ad before, but a dress I saw at Zara the other day made me think of this photo. I’m pretty sure the designers over at Zara were heavily “inspired” by Lanvin, when they created their version. This dress would be so perfect for a holiday party! And since Lanvin is currently unaffordable, I think I might just hop on over to my nearest Zara store and get me some of that! Plus I already have a black cat at home. So I guess, I’m half-way there!

I’ve been so preoccupied with the many fun and exciting things happening, that I completely stopped paying attention to things like…it’s OCTOBER ALREADY! What that generally means, is that the holiday season is nearly here, and very soon the crazed shoppers will start hitting the malls in search of fresh blood Christmas gifts. It also means, that pretty soon we all will need holiday outfits! The search never stops! Well, thankfully, Topshop people are much more on track than I am, and both Topshop and Kate Moss for Topshop holiday collections will be available in stores come November. In the meantime, we have a preview of the few pieces from the two collections.
And while I love Kate Moss’ style as much as the next fashionista, I am not in love with her pieces, especially considering the price range of $100-$400 (and that butterfly dress!!! WTF?)! My fave items, surprisingly, come from the main Topshop collection in shape of the sequined dress ($410), red velvet undies set ($150), and the black rope dress ($210). All of which, though cute, still seem grossly overpriced! I’ll definitely be waiting to see what becomes available at Zara and H&M. What about you? Are you loving any of the pieces?
