What I Wore: You Just Got Spotted

flare-wear-canada

Last week, in case you couldn’t tell from all the Toronto Fashion Week-related posts…fashion week madness descended upon Toronto. Throngs of models, editors, photographers, and bloggers arrived daily at Pecaut Square tents to watch Canadian designers present their Fall 2012 collections. Flare Magazine once again challenged everybody to “Wear Canada” during Toronto Fashion Week, and sent the lovely photographer sisters Michelle and Gabby of You Just Got Spotted to capture the Canadian pieces worn by the attendees.

Having worn my new fave Aldo Rise shoes, and Joe Fresh skinnies, I was spotted, snapped, and featured! And since I didn’t actually take my own outfit photos that day, I’ve decided to share this one instead.

Do you have go-to Canadian pieces? Share in the comments!

I Wore: Jacket – Zara; Pants – Joe Fresh; T-shirt – H&M; Shoes – J.W. Anderson for Aldo Rise; Bag – Chanel; Sunglasses – Elizabeth and James (via Shopbop); Necklace – BCBG

H&M Conscious Glamour Collection

hm-conscious-glamour

Color me super-impressed! My fave fast fashion retailer H&M is stepping up its design game. Launching on April 12th in around 100 stores worldwide* is H&M Conscious GLAMOUR Collection, featuring mind-blowing dresses, and separates for an H&M addict (like myself) with glam things to do, people to see, parties to attend…or for the lack of glam parties…to strut around the house feeling oh-so-pretty.

“To celebrate the rise of glamour, H&M has created the Exclusive Conscious collection of red-carpet looks that have all been made from more sustainable materials like organic cotton and hemp, and recycled polyester, as part of H&M’s Conscious initiative. The glamorous collection shows the diversity of what has become possible with greener fashion, with each outfit an individual style that stands on its own, to reflect the scope of red carpet fashion today.”

My jaw pretty much dropped to the floor when I first laid eyes on the ruffled dress above…I mean…Carrie Bradshaw in Paris came to mind immediately…and I knew then and there that I needed to have that dress (along with half of this collection). H&M Conscious Glamour Collection has already been worn by Oscar-nominated actresses like Michelle Williams and Viola Davis…as well as Kristin Davis (there’s the SATC connection!), and Amanda Seyfried. And now I’m literally counting down the days until I’ll be able to get my claws into a few of these gowns…Forget wedding planning! April 12th can’t come soon enough.

What do you think about H&M Conscious Glamour Collection? You have to love it! You love it, right? Right? Share your thoughts in the comments.

*H&M Conscious Collection will be available at the Eaton Centre in Toronto, as well as select stores in Vancouver and Montreal

Giveaway: Marni at H&M Flower Necklace

Marni-HM-White-Flower-Necklace

Marni at H collection launched this morning to extra-long line-ups, and people sleeping on the streets overnight to get in on the Marni action. Well, if you weren’t very lucky today, and weren’t able to get your hands on a little-something-Marni, I have good news for you! In honor of International Women’s Day (or The 8th of March, as we call it in the Soviet block), I am giving away a white flower Marni at H necklace to one of my readers! I was lucky enough to be able to pre-shop the collab last night, and walked away with some great loot, including one extra necklace to give away!

Interested? Read the rules carefully after the jump!

What I Wore: Holts Muse

holts muse

When I got an email from Holt Renfrew, asking me to participate in a Blogger Style Challenge for Holts Muse, I was ecstatic! Getting to roam the store, pick out anything and everything I liked, to put together 3 outfits – sounds like a dream, right? Well, it certainly was a lot of fun. Gracie, Elizabeth, and yours truly were each given a fun spring piece to style three different ways, and were then photographed by the amazing Adam Moco. Tough job, but someone had to do it.

My spring item was a sporty yellow mini from DVF. For my first outfit, I paired it with a kick-ass Balenciaga leather vest, a lovely Joie striped tee, and a red Balenciaga bag to complete the look. I also wore my own H&M tights, and Stuart Weitzman booties.

holts-muse-holt-renfrew

For my second outfit, I mixed prints by wearing a lovely DVF cardi over the versatile Equipment blouse, and finished off the look with an adorable neon pink DVF clutch. A little color to brighten up the day. I also wore the Loeffler Randall Natane lace-up stilettos…aka my wedding shoes. You like?

Wishlist: Marni x H&M

marni-h&m-accessories-wedding

The Marni at H collection will be hitting the stores this coming Thursday, March 8th, and I seriously cannot wait! My wishlist right now is fairly simple – a few pieces of jewelry, printed tee, and the cutest swimsuit ever…but I know that once I enter that store – all bets (and wishlists) are off. I still can’t decide which dress to get (maxi or knee-length), which pair of pants to pick up (shiny brocade, or pajama shorts)…and seeing how I’m on a strict pre-wedding budget, I really have to pace myself…or go broke trying.

Will you be lining up come March 8th? And if so, which pieces are currently on your wishlist? Share in the comments.

What I Wore: Who Wears the Pants

striped jacket skinny pants

While standing in front of my closet, pondering what to wear to the office, I realized that I have a lot of cropped skinny work pants. As in…A LOT. In the summer, I am all about dresses…office dresses, flirty dresses, weekend dresses, summer dresses…you get the point. But in the winter – it’s all about pants. Because…duh, it’s cold outside!

H&M skinny pants fit me the best, but Zara trousers aren’t that bad either (though I always have to alter the length). I’ve tried wide-leg, bootcut, and other types of work pants, but skinny cropped ones are always my go-to. Hopefully, I’ll get to take more photos…and show off the rest of my budding “collection” soon.

I Wore: Jacket, Shoes – Zara; Shirt – Gap; Pants – H&M; Sunglasses – Elizabeth & James (Shopbop); Bag – Chanel; Necklace – Forever21; Brooch – Material Girl (The Bay)

Celebrities Rock Marni at H&M Collection!

Last week, the luckiest few were able to celebrate the launch of Marni at H collection in Los Angeles…rubbing elbows with the likes of Sofia Coppola, Drew Barrymore, Milla Jovovich, Winona Ryder, and more – all clad in Marni x H. Seeing how the collection is coming to Canada on March 8th…I thought I’d share my fave looks from the launch party, modeled by celebs, who of course, had first dibs on the collection.

Will you be lining up this time around? Which pieces are on your wishlist? Share in the comments.

Stylish Staples: Striped Top

Welcome to our new segment – Stylish Staples! After discovering that I only wear like 20% of my wardrobe ALL.THE.TIME., I’ve decided to see what makes those items such staples. And well, unsurprisingly, I wear them so often, because they are stylish, and easy to wear with other items in my closet.

Each week, I’ll share one Stylish Staple of mine, showcase how other stylish bloggers wear those staples in their everyday lives, and perhaps help you enhance your wardrobe along the way. If you have staple suggestions, or would like to be featured, please shoot me an email.

This week’s staple is (perhaps predictably) a striped top. I own dozens of striped tops, mostly in a classic Breton stripe, and literally wear them at least once a week. Striped tops can be worn with almost anything to (almost) any occasion. A simple striped top adds some flare to a basic outfit, and amps up your chicness quotient.

Wear your striped top to the office like Kristy, by pairing it with a pencil skirt, some grown-up pumps, and a trench coat. Rock it on the weekend, a la Liz, by doing your best Audrey Hepburn impression in a pair of cropped trousers, and some lovely flats. Or show off your sexy side like Sharon, by pairing your demure stripes with a killer necklace, and some short shorts. Just like a Little Black Dress is a must-have for every woman out there, a striped top should be too!

Are you a lover of stripes? How do you wear them? Share in the comments.

What I Wore: Back to Basics

This past weekend I had to go in to the office and work, which naturally translated into comfy outfits with little to no thought involved. Sorry if this is kinda boring, but to me, a striped tee paired with denim is always a “do”…and an easy one at that. Which is why all of my striped tees are now looking a little mangy and tired for my liking. Time for a new batch, I say.

Apart from my stripe-obsession, there are a few other pieces that I always seem to be wearing, which is also why I will be doing a new segment on Style Blog – called Stylish Staples, starting next week. This segment will showcase some of my most beloved wardrobe essentials, and how I (and my fave bloggers) wear those pieces. For now, I’d like to ask you, my lovelies, what are your fave Stylish Staples? Share in the comments.

What I Wore: Back to Black

As much as I try to add color to my winter outfits, black is still the easiest to wear/match/throw on quickly. After changing a million times last Saturday, I finally settled on warm tights, breezy see-through skirt, and a few layers underneath my new Zara peacoat (on major sale right now!). As a result, people passing me by seemed incredibly confused. Is that a see-through skirt in the winter? Yes. Is she wearing tights under there? Heck, yes…I am not crazy. Is she a nun? Err…not quite.

All the looks aside, I kinda had a lot of fun wearing something other than pants/jeans/leggings in the winter. It was probably the riskiest fashion risk I’ve taken in a while…and it felt pretty good.

Do you wear your summer clothes in the winter? Share your tips in the comments.

Marni at H&M First Ad Revealed!

Back in November, it was announced that Marni would be the next designer to collaborate with one of my fave fast fashion brands – H&M! Well, a couple of months later, we have the first image from the collab’s ad campaign, featuring Imogen Poots! I simply adore the luxurious and moody feel of this ad…and it definitely makes me want to see more. The collection will hit the stores on March 8th, but I hope we’ll be seeing a few more sneak peeks in the meantime.

What do you think of this first look at Marni x HM ad campaign? Let me know in the comments.

VISA Everyday Shopper Program: Day 5 Giveaway!

Sponsored Post

Wow…five days flew by so quickly, and this is my final post for the VISA Everyday Shopper Program. Here’s what I bought with $50 each day.

Day 2: Pizza Lunch ($4.15), H&M Dress ($45.14)
Day 3: Jimmy The Greek Lunch ($10.56), Twix ($1.68), Salad King Dinner ($28.45)
Day 4: Tamarind Indian Lunch ($12.06), Cadbury Creme Egg Minis and Gum ($7.10), Longo’s Groceries ($26.47)
Day 5: Make-up Session at Sephora ($50)

From Day 1 to Day 5, I’ve spent a total of $234.16 on everyday items, and earned a total of 234 points, getting me a bit closer to that coveted new laptop! And all I had to do was buy the things I would purchase anyway, using my good old VISA. Obviously, this is only worth it, if you pay off your balance at the end of each month – I would never encourage you to go on wild shopping sprees using your credit card, if you couldn’t afford the things you’d purchased! So please, exercise caution.

With that said, since you’ve been so awesome, joining me on my spending/collecting adventure, I want to share the goodies…aka a $50 Prepaid VISA Card that you can use to buy your very own everyday items!

Rules of the giveaway after the jump!

What I Wore: Mad Men

I was going to call this post “Mad Women”, but then you might think that I’m mad, and I’m really not…so “Mad Men” it is. Because if this high-waisted pencil skirt doesn’t scream Joan, then I don’t know what does. Ok, I do know - big tatas…but since I’m lacking in that department, high-waisted skirt it is.

I’m also wearing my beloved belt from the OBJECT by George Antonopoulos for Danier collection (say that 10 times!), which literally goes with everything, and garners compliments every time I put it on. And that’s awesome. Can’t wait ’til the Spring 2012 collection hits the stores! Seriously, can’t wait!

I Wore: Top – Forever21; Skirt, Tights – H&M; Shoes – Nine West; Belt – OBJECT by George Antonopoulos for Danier; Bag – Prada; Ring – YSL

H&M Spring 2012 Collection Featuring Liya Kebede

We finally had our first snowfall here in Toronto. And just like that, I’ve decided that I’ve had enough of cold and snow for one winter. To top it off, this H&M Spring 2012 campaign featuring Liya Kebede the genetically-blessed-goddess landed in my inbox, inducing daydreams of tropical getaways, sun, sand, and extra-large fruity cocktails. Le sigh. Where is that Cabo vacay when you really need it?!

What I Wore: Bundled Up

Most winter days, I have to fight with my own body in order to get dressed…I just never seem to be up to the dask of wearing actual clothes when it’s cold outside. All I want to do is stay under my duvet, wearing the comfiest of pjs, and if it was socially acceptable, I would probably wear my duvet outside of the house 5 days out of 7…just like this fancy lady.

Well, this Old Navy sweater is the closest I will ever get to wearing a duvet outside of the house. It is the coziest thing ever, and I simply love being wrapped in it…snug and comfy without venturing into the precarious Snuggie/Snuggle territory. Pretty cute, right?

So what about you? How do you deal with clothing anxiety in the winter? Or am I the only one suffering from it? Let me know in the comments.

I Wore: Wrap Sweater – Old Navy; Jeans – 7 For All Mankind (c/o SeCe Apparel); Boots – Mel by Melissa; Gloves – Danier Leather; Hat – H&M; Bag – Prada
