What I Wore: Airport Style

travel-style-what-to-wear-to-airport-2

Last year, I wrote a post on packing light, sharing my fave tips on travelling with my trusty Heys carry-on. And while I mentioned my airport-wear essentials in that post, since a lot of you will be travelling this winter, I thought it might be worth a show-and-tell.

As you can see, my in-flight style is pretty simple. Jeans with stretch for comfort and the softest sweatshirt I own, leather jacket to warm me up in case it gets chilly, a pair of comfy boots that I can quickly take off at security, and of course, socks! No belt or jewellery to remove (I pack those in a clutch inside my carry-on), no uncomfortable pieces of clothing to worry about. Just a practical outfit, paired with a roomy Longchamp tote filled with toiletries (in a clear bag), magazines, documents, pashmina, and a small purse, along with my Heys carry-on. Effective and efficient. I can’t stress enough how much easier going through security is when you think your outfit and your packing through. Huge difference!

So tell me about your airport style! Do you glam it up while travelling, or do you wear the comfiest thing you can find? Share your secrets in the comments!

What I Wore: Swept Away

orange-lace-dress

Even though my December getaway was less than a month away, I am ready for another trip. Looking at these photos, I wish we’d taken two weeks instead of just one. Two weeks of this. Two weeks of beach, food, and relaxation. Instead, it’s back to reality. C’est la vie.

At least 6 more months until I can wear dresses like this one again.

H&M Group’s & Other Stories to Launch in Spring 2013

OtherStories_Atelier_H&M

Last year, H&M group confirmed that a luxury brand & Other Stories would be joining the ranks in Spring 2013, and now, we actually have a confirmed list of countries that will be getting their first taste of H&M’s higher-priced sibling.

This spring, the brand will launch its first stores in Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, Milan, Paris and Stockholm, with online shopping (stories.com) in Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom. Sadly, no North American stores have been slated to open at this time.

& Other Stories promises to carry a wide range of shoes, bags, accessories, beauty and ready-to-wear. “The lines are diverse, ranging from masculine tailoring to feminine chic and are designed to provide endless styling choices. The aim is to design lasting wardrobe treasures within a wide price range. In the creative ateliers in Paris and Stockholm diversified fashion collections are designed with great attention to detail and quality at an affordable price.”

As a lover of H&M’s trendy offerings, I am definitely intrigued about & Other Stories’ offerings. Will be keeping my eyes peeled for lookbook images. For now, you can check out their tumblr page, which is full of sneak peek images.

What I Wore: White Christmas

dolce-vita-white-lace-dress-2

This was me just over a week ago, enjoying the warmth of the sun, the waves of the ocean, and the delicious food at Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana. Le bf and I decided to skip traditional gift-giving this year, in favour of a lovely getaway from the cold and the snow, and it was the best decision ever! Looking at these photos now makes me jealous of myself…I know how irrational it sounds, but I wish my view was still palm trees as opposed to snow blowing diagonally outside my office window. Le sigh.

Back to fashion. I first saw this Dolce Vita dress in Barcelona last year, and though I totally fell head over heels, I simply couldn’t justify the inflated resort prices and left it…only to find it waiting for me on Shopbop on sale! Was it meant to be, or what? Obviously, I snatched it up, and the rest is history. I love the way (from certain angles) the daisies actually look like snowflakes, which makes this dress even more perfect for Christmas. White Christmas without snow? Totally possible.

How was your Christmas, lovelies? Share in the comments!

H&M Spring 2013 Lookbook

magdalena-frackowiak-hm-spring-2013

It’s the new year, which means we can totally start looking forward to spring! So just in case you are currently staring at a pile of snow the size of your house and need a reason to cheer up, check out these photos from H&M’s latest Spring 2013 lookbook, featuring Magdalena Frackowiak. My fave pieces are black and white and striped (no surprise there), but the simplicity of a leather jacket over a white shirt is making me miss leather jacket weather all over again. Three more months to go, people. Just three more months until spring. The countdown is ON!

Holidays 2012: New Year’s Eve Pajama Party

new-year-pajama-party

As much as I love getting dressed up and partying it up on New Year’s Eve, this year, I just don’t feel up to it. Perhaps I’m getting old, but the thought of wearing a skimpy dress while it’s freezing outside, and dragging my butt across the city to a crowded and overpriced party just doesn’t have the same appeal this year.

So instead of getting all dressed up, my friends and I will be doing the opposite – having a pajama party at someone’s house! And best of all, I won’t have to look shlumpy either. The PJ trend has been around for a while now, and some of the coolest looks I’ve seen as of late feature some sort of a fun twist on the sleepwear trend. So this New Year’s Eve I’ll be rocking my newly-acquired black with white-piping H&M PJs, Charlotte Olympia velvet kitty flats, and a bold necklace to dress up the look, while sipping delicious Pinnacle Whipped Vodka cocktails and playing Cards Against Humanity (aka best game ever!) with some of my dearest friends. Comfy, inexpensive, and fun.

So what about you? Are you planning to go out and party all night long? Do you know what you’ll wear? Let me know in the comments!

What I Wore: Never Enough

club-monaco-coat-chanel-brooch

…coats! Because, in my opinion, if you live in a country with winters, coats are a necessity, and you can never have too many! I picked up this moss-coloured beauty at Club Monaco with an extra 30% off sale items for a steal, and since the promo will run for a few more days, I strongly urge you to take advantage. There’s another coat I have my eye on…it’s cream, with a faux fur collar, and it’s beautiful! But seeing how I’m a messy…everything, a white coat might not be the best idea…for me. But I’m still thinking about it.

What I Wore: Prized Possessions

chanel-brooch-military-pants-dvf-clutch

Last weekend, my blogging bestie Sharon and I set off on a little roadtrip to Buffalo to do some Christmas shopping, and pick up some things that we both purchased months ago…like my new precious Chanel brooch. Having ordered it from Saks back in August, I was ecstatic to finally be able to get my hands on the tiny treasure. So ecstatic in fact, that I ended up wearing it to brunch the very next day…along with my new bejewelled DVF clutch that I picked up from Saks Off 5th during the same Buffalo trip (for a steal!!!). Score and score!

Along with my YSL arty oval ring, and Margiela with H&M booties, this outfit is pretty much a collection of my most prized (physical) possessions…ones that I will surely treasure for years to come.

Do you have special pieces that always make you happy and jazz up any outfit you wear? Tell me all about them in the comments!
