What I Wore: A-Maze-ing

Ever since my nephew was born, I’ve been discovering more and more of High Park with every walk we go on. This time, my cousin and I found a Wonderland-esque maze in the middle of High Park! All it was missing was a couple of rose bushes for the card-guards to paint a different color!

I really adore our little walks…though sometimes they aren’t so “little”…at times we end up walking for hours, making it to Lakeshore, and taking a nice stroll down by the lake, while my baby nephew peacefully snoozes in his stroller.

It’s because of him, I have a new shopping addiction – baby clothes! I think I’ve been spending more time in H&M’s baby section, than anywhere else in the store. Who knew that H&M had such adorable baby clothes?! Unfortunately, I am not allowed to post any photos of my nephew…otherwise he’d get his own “What He Wore” section on this blog – he is one stylish baby!

Pardon my legs in this picture…I am a klutz and running into furniture is something I do on a daily basis, hence the bruises. Also, somehow most of my outfit that day came from Forever 21, and not from H&M, which might just be a first. Oh, and these photos were taken a week or so ago, hence the nice weather. Hope you have a happy and sunny weekend wherever you are!

P.S. Love, love, love H&M’s new line of nail polish! The only gripe I have is that this color is called “Bella’s Choice”…really, H&M? Did you really have to go there?

P.P.S. My list of obsessions should also include turquoise…too much?

What I Wore: T-shirt, Floral Skirt, Necklace, Feather Ring – Forever21; Turquoise Ring – H&M; Shoes – Zara; Backpack – Chanel

What I Wore: Cherry Blossom Girl

Thank goodness, le boyfriend and I ended up at High Park two weeks ago! Had we waited to this weekend, the cherry blossoms might’ve been gone completely due to the crappy weather we’ve been having. We missed the blossoms last year, and I was not about to miss them again!

After a quick stop at King Slice on Bloor St for some really delicious pizza*, off to High Park we went. The trees were in bloom, the grass was covered with bodies and blankets, the choo-choo-train was full of kids and parents, and the dogs were running around, having the time of their lives. All is right with the world again now that spring is in the air. I actually climbed** a cherry tree for a photo, which was fun, until an elderly Asian lady tried to do the same without bending her legs…thankfully she didn’t get hurt…but we did get a laugh out of it.

As happy as that weekend at High Park was for me, I did get sick that day – with a cold that took me out of commission for a full week! Live and learn. Next year, I am wearing a sweater to watch the trees bloom and maybe a wrap blanket too, and I don’t care if the little kids make fun of me.

*If you live in Toronto and still haven’t tried King Slice – shame on you. Go on, and try not to like their pizza – impossible!

**I didn’t actually climb the tree, but was kind of sort of helped up by le boyfriend…same thing.

What I Wore: Grandma Chic

Last week, in hope of finding High Park’s sakura trees in full bloom, le boyfriend and I set out on a little photo expedition. To our disappointment, however, the blossoms were nowhere to be found…one week too early. Oh well, we had a great day regardless! Sunny days make everyone so happy, including puppies, ducks and grown men. I was also excited to be wearing my new blue dress! Technically, it’s not at all special – it’s just Forever 21, but the thing is that my grandma used to have a dress that looked very similar to this one and it took me a while to actually snatch it up in my size (some techniques involved stalking the store’s hold section, and checking the website obsessively every few minutes).

So yeah, the dress is awesome! I also love the earrings…they are malachite and they actully belonged to my grandmother – only one of the few pieces of her jewelry that I was able to save. Nowadays, I wish my mom had kept more of my grandma’s things, so that instead of buying a “Made in China” dress to invoke memories of my beautiful grandmother, I could actually wear a piece from her own wardrobe. Le sigh. Do you have any special items in your closet that belonged to someone close to you? Share in the comments.

I Wore: Dress – Forever21; Jacket – Arden B; Bag – Zara; Boots – Guess; Earrings – My Grandma’s

What I Wore: First Day of Spring!

Last weekend, it felt like Spring finally showed its sunny face, and it made me (and thousands of others) so very happy! After spending half a day at home doing meaningless boring stuff (laundry, cleaning, etc.), my cousin and I went for a walk in a park – High Park. The weather was chilly, the pond still frozen, but people still came out in droves to enjoy some sunshine and fresh air. If there’s one thing I love about Toronto, is that people here really do appreciate good weather. Not one sunny day goes wasted. When I lived in Houston, where sunny days are dime a dozen, I’ve spent more days than I care to admit, at the mall or somewhere else indoors, not knowing that one day, when I move to Canada, those days will be missed dearly. Will never make that mistake again.

I Wore: Blazer, Purse – Zara; Boots – Guess; Shorts – H&M; Top – Forever21; Leggings - Aritzia; Sunglasses – Ray Ban
