As you have probably heard, Flare Magazine is now 30! And to celebrate this fun occasion, the magazine partnered up with a few great stores to thank its readers and to prove to everyone that the magazine is as fabulous as ever at 30! Last night, Al and I attended the BCBG party on Bloor St. in Toronto. While the scale of the party was nowhere near that of H&M’s, the beautiful dresses more than made up for it! Did you know that BCBG stands for Bon Chic, Bon Genre (Good Style, Good Attitude)? Good style and good attitude? Check! As well as champagne and my favorite macarons from MoRoCo!
As you all probably know already (from all my whining on this blog), I desperately need 2 dresses to go to 2 weddings! And my search has been nothing but a big whopping disappointment! Last night, however, I found an awesome dress, that is definitely a shoo-in to be a winner (not that there’s much competition). I’ll be posting some dresses I tried on last night in a separate post later, but in the meantime, I just wanted to give you all a heads up that BCBG|Max Azria stores are offering 20% off all regular merchandise in honor of Flare’s 30th birthday! Fabulous, no?
You can RSVP here. Events are happening in Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, and obviously Toronto. Have fun and don’t forget to wish Flare a Happy Birthday!

To help you forget about today’s Faux Pas times two, I have some good style to showcase, courtesy of Lauren Conrad. Say what you will about Lauren’s talents, or lack of thereof, but the girl can dress! Unlike other reality TV starlets, she always looks classy and cute! Like her clothing line, her outfit choices are never groundbreaking, but very wearable for everyday life. Love how she paired a sexy Herve Leger skirt with a tough leather jacket. And the classic Chanel bag, don’t even get me started on it! Don’t you just wish you were getting $125,000 per reality TV show episode about chitchatting to your girlfriends about relationships, eating, partying, and shopping? Le sigh…

Shopping is fun when you don’t have to shop. It’s fun when you do it on a whim, and go in without a specific item in mind. That’s when it’s most fun for me. Shopping with a purpose – not so much. Have two weddings coming up pretty soon and am in need of two dresses. Wedding shopping = no fun.
Have you noticed that when you are actually looking for something, you can never find it? It’s so annoying! I feel like just a few months ago, stores were overflowing with amazing dresses, and now – all fall and winter clothes! What’s the deal? I get it, I get it…but still…fact is, I can’t wear an amazing suit jacket with (faux) fur trim paired with skinny jeans and ankle boots to a wedding! Can I?
Ok…trying to focus. Here are some pics of dress shopping at BCBG Max Azria. My favorite so far is the cream-colored Grecian-looking dress above. But is the color too close to white? Wedding appropriate or not?

Heather Graham has a great body! But this dress, this dress is trying too hard. If the fabric moves just a couple of inches, everyone and their grandma will be able to see what some of us really don’t want to see, and that is a pantiless Heather Graham in a ripped dress. I mean, even if that’s just nude lining, the whole suggestion of exposing your front and rear bits like this is all sorts of tacky? As I said, trying way too hard. And didn’t she play a stripper/hooker in The Hangover too? Still in character?

Birthday in less than 1 week. Panic is starting to set in. Only 5 years till I’m 30!!! Time is a-running out, yet so many things on “the list” are left untouched and unfinished…Welcome to my yearly birthday freak out.
This year, I am getting much closer to the big 3-0 mark… This year should be worse. But this year is different. Different, because at this moment, actually feel very content. And feel like for the first time in a little while have time to actually live my life and be happy (stop and smell the tulips, lilacs, etc).
Got no complaints and no regrets. And to celebrate all this happiness, I will stuff myself into a Herve Leger inspired dress by H&M. Put an oversized Zara “boyfriend” blazer on. Wrap a hardcore-hardware belt around my waist and stick my feet into Zanotti-esque Balmain-ish Aldo shoes. Will dance till no longer am able to stand. Will drink Malibu and Pineapple juice (or Coronas). Will not think about the unaccomplished, but instead will celebrate the items crossed off my list. Like swimming with the dolphins, or visiting my best friend in Switzerland, or finally getting my Canadian Passport. Instead of dreading being “another year older, none wiser”, will seize the day and……..Oh, who am I kidding??? I am 1 Jello cup, 2 grey hairs and 5 back pains away from the nursing home! I hate birthdays!
