Gary Effing Oldman for Prada Fall 2012 Men’s RTW

Dear Miuccia, well-played! Normally, I don’t blog about Men’s RTW shows…but in this case, I simply had to make an exception! Because…Gary Effing Oldman…Willem Dafoe…need I say more? Actually, Willem Dafoe and Jamie Bell look like they’ve been doing this sort of thing forever. With Dafoe looking extra (for the lack of a better word) FIERCE! He totally looks like an aging ex-super-male-model. Non?

Tim Roth, Adrien Brody, and Emile Hirsch also strutted their stuff at Prada’s Fall 2012 Men’s RTW show, rocking double-breasted coats, turtlenecks, and in Roth’s case – a big smile. How un-modelly of him. And though I loved most of these leading men’s struts, one of these “models” left me cold. Emile Hirsch looked completely out-of-place on the runway – not doing justice to the amazing clothes that wore him. Oh well, 5 out of 6 is not too bad…not at all. Also…I want/need/gotta get my paws on that amazing coat that Adrien is wearing. It’s amazing. AMAZING. Seriously, I love it so much! For me.

So what do you think about these very famous and very talented actors walking the walk at Prada? Did you have a favorite? Share in the comments.

Wednesday Candy: Ryan Gahhh-osling

Umm…so, yeah…it’s not Wednesday. But on the blog, it is, if I say so. So here are some pics of the super stylish (and sexy) Wednesday Candy – Ryan Gosling, wearing the shit out of his olive-colored suit, making Clooney look like a giddy school girl next to him.

Why today? Because it’s a crappy rainy day, and I need a pick-me-up. Because Ryan sightings make the day a little a lot better. Because every day is Ryan day. And last, but not least…why the hell not? You’re welcome.

Moon Apparel Fall 2011 Collection Preview

Earlier this month, Moon Apparel held the launch of their first-eve menswear collection, as well as their Fall 2011 womenswear line. Just like at the last year’s launch, the Misfits DJ’d, with Leigh Lezark looking as svelte and gorgeous as ever.

As for the collections, I felt that the womens’ line was a lot stronger and more exciting the second time around – there were still plenty of office-wear classics, interspersed with standout pieces like sequined skirt, pink and blue sheer blouses, navy lace dress and skirt, and my personal favorite – golden brocade dress. The lace dress and skirt are already available at The Bay stores nationwide, and are incredibly versatile – from day to night, and which incidentally, I have in my closet already.

Moon Apparel menswear Fall 2011 collection consists of classic suits, cropped pants, cardigans, plaid and quilted jackets, in black, beige, and navy – simple silhouettes for any urban gentleman’s wardrobe. Seems that every guy in the room (and some girls too) were calling dibs on the camel menswear cardis with black piping – must-have classic for fall.

Created and designed by the dynamic brother-sister duo Jordin and Tamara Mimran, Moon Apparel is now in its sophomore year, and is showing no signs of slow down. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Shopping: All Saints Menswear

Is this what March supposed to feel like? Wet, and rainy, and blah? If so, I’d like to unsubscribe, please. With the weather (sort of) warming up, le boyfriend is looking for a nice spring jacket, without much luck. Nothing is popping enough for him to really like it, and it’s slowly driving me crazy. So when I recently stumbled upon All Saints, I was thanking every saint in the book.

First of all, the site has gorgeous womenswear, which was the first thing I was drawn too (naturally). But when I prodded further, I discovered that their menswear selection is pretty fantastic as well! Finally, some mens jackets with style and substance. Check out their lookbook, featuring some of my fave styles so far. Both the quilted, and the leather jackets are my frontrunners, and it seems that even le boyfriend’s interest is piqued. Fingers crossed.

Have you ever bought anything from All Saints before? Let us know about your experience in the comments!

Wednesday Candy: Clive Owen

Last week, le boyfriend and I were at H&M and I picked out a few items for him to try on. One of said items was a lovely black velvet blazer. He looked fantastic in it, better than I had expected, yet still he dismissed the garment, as if I was proposing that he wear a purple crushed velvet Juicy Couture track suit.

Fast forward to this week, and here’s my fave dreamboat Clive Owen in a similar velvet blazer. Coincidence? I think not! Perhaps Clive is trying to tell me something.

Help me out, ladies and gents…What do you think about a velvet injection into a man’s wardrobe? Do you subscribe to  George Costanza’s way of thinking, or should velvet be banned for upholstery use only?

Holidays 2010: Cool Guy Gift Ideas

For some awful reason, gift-buying for le boyfriend is particularly difficult this year. I don’t know if it’s due to the lack of paying attention on my part, or due to his lack of wanting things. I’m guessing it’s the former.

If you’re unsure, uninspired, and completely don’t know what to get your special someone this Christmas, check out a few gifts I’ve given in the past, and would consider giving in the future. Once again, prices range from $29.95 to $450, to fit various budgets.

Oh, and if you don’t find what you’re looking for here, check out Holidays 2009, and Valentine’s Day gift guydes. Any other suggestions? Please feel free to let me know in the comments…I am still not done shopping!

The Bay West End Shop Fall 2010 Menswear Preview

Last week, The Bay unveiled Fall 2010 Menswear Designer collections at its West End Shop with a little help from Steve Yzerman and Alex Bilodeau. With brands like Hugo Boss, Armani Jeans, Diesel, Ben Sherman and many others, all neatly located on the second floor, The Bay on Queen St. has become a premier shopping destination for high-end brands. And who better to be the face of the shop, than the hockey legend Steve Yzerman himself?

When le boyfriend first heard that “Yzerman” was going to attend, there was no doubt he wasn’t going to miss out on this opportunity. And by the look of the lineup to shake hands with the former Red Wings captain, he wasn’t the only one.

After Brian Williams interviewed both Steve and Alex in front of the stylish attendees, both men helped pick out Hugo Boss and Strellson raffle winners (someone next to me was excitedly hoping to get the Hugo Boss suit Steve was wearing).

West End Shop itself is a large bright open space, full of well-displayed mix of brands – definitely a lovely spot to do some shopping for your guy, be it for casual clothes or high-end suits.

I love the recent overhaul The Bay has undergone, stores are getting renovated, layouts are easier to navigate, and with ever-expanding brand selections, the store is a pleasure to shop at. If you haven’t been recently, you really should see the difference for yourselves.

H&M Fall 2010 Lookbook

I really like the new Fall 2010 H&M campaign, featuring a fellow Canadian Daria Werbowy. It is by no means groundbreaking, nor especially different, but what I love about the pieces featured is how wearable they are. This is everyday/everywoman chic at its easiest, and by the looks of it at its comfiest too.

I already own most of the pieces featured (or some similar ones), but I still want the above grey sweater with asymmetrical hem – it’s just so simple, and I can imagine wearing it all through the winter. What do you think about this lookbook? Is it great or boring? Let me know in the comments.

Zara June 2010 Lookbook

Zara’s summer sale is now on! And though the items I mostly want aren’t on sale (they are from Fall collection), it might be a good time to stock up on some essentials and a few fun summer pieces.

Also, just wanted to apologize for the lack of posts last week – my weekend got a two day extension due to the G20 happening in the downtown Toronto area, so I spent both Thursday and Friday renovating my room (painting, wallpapering, etc)…perhaps I’ll share some photos of the end result sometime next week.

Oh, and the winner of the H&M giveaway will be announced quite soon…don’t worry, I didn’t forget about you!

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday, lovelies!

Wednesday Candy: Bradley Cooper

The A-Team movie is hitting the theatres this Friday, and Bradley Cooper, along with his co-A-Teamers have been all over the place, promoting the film…and looking hot, while doing it. I don’t know if it’s because of his (assholy) role in The Wedding Crashers, but I never really found “Coop” that attractive. I mean, obviously he’s hot, but he never really did it for me. But after these photos…I think I’ve changed my mind.

That cocky smile, that glint in his eyes, that hair, and, of course, the way he wears his suit…it’s all very sexy. Kinda makes you want to find out what’s under that buttoned-up vest, doesn’t it? Anyway, hope you all are having a great Wednesday! For those that aren’t, take a good look at Bradley and remember, Friday is only a day away!

And if you man is as tall as Bradley…or even taller, check out Mens Clothing at High&Mighty.co.uk for your man or great gift ideas.

Summer Mansentials

It’s official – it is summer time in Canada! The sun is hot, the skin is in, and the patios are buzzing! But is your man ready for the heat? Judging by the many run-ins with style-handicapped guys I spotted this weekend at The Beach, many guys don’t get that you can be both comfortable and stylish during the summer. And while, I realize that most men would balk at the idea of making over their style, below are the three essential items, that I think every guy should have this summer! And yes, this includes le boyfriend.

1. Summer shorts

As the temperatures rise, the hemlines of ladies’ skirts keep going up, but what about the guys? I think it’s very important for guys to have at least one decent pair of shorts for the summer. Unfortunately, lots of men’s idea of decent shorts are sloppy, slouchy, ill-fitting, and at times plain ugly. Men’s shorts come in a variety of styles to fit different lifestyles, but in general the more pockets there are, the less streamlined, and therefore less flattering the shorts will look. Stores usually have an abundance of shorts and swim trunks at this time of the year, so your options are definitely not limited. So pick up a pair that you like for your man, and chances are he’ll grow to like them, and won’t look sloppy any more. I’ve also found this site, which also has some cool options from brands like G-Star.

2. Stylish kicks

Back when I lived in Houston, seeing a guy wearing flip-flops never induced any unpleasant feelings on my part. Here in Toronto, however, I am not a fan…unless we’re at the beach, at the pool, or at a BBQ that is. Converse have been my guy shoe of choice for a few years now, and with the canvas upper, I think they are pretty good shoes for the summer, as well as always in style. Though le boyfriend loves them as well, he did find the Lacoste sneakers much more comfortable. I love Lacoste shoes, especially since they have so many simple, yet stylish looks available…it’s easy to find one that would work for your man. And of course, the penny loafers look amazing with rolled up pants/jeans, in the summer…so very “Sartorialist meets Italian riviera”…but it takes a certain type of man to rock those. Though in the end, I think any of these beat sandals with socks, no?

3. Below the neck grooming

When Lisa of One Voice offered to send le boyfriend Philips Bodygroom Pro, I jumped at the chance. While he agreed to be my guinea pig (thanks, baby!), he didn’t fully realize what that would entail. Luckily for me, he isn’t as hairy as some men, but some shaving and trimming still goes a long way. Thankfully, nowadays, most men already realize that at least some body grooming is important below the neck…necessary, even. But with the beach season quickly approaching, and if your man is still hesitant to try it, perhaps you could sneak a Bodygroom unit into his bathroom one day as a hint. Le boyfriend did secretly like Philips Bodygroom Pro, not that he necessarily needs the shaving side, but the trimmer definitely came in handy! Plus, he was able to use it both in the shower and out. Now help your man take off that “sweater” and enjoy some sunshine! Bodygroom Pro is currently available at Bed Bath and Beyond in Canada, while Sears, HBC, and Personal Edge should be getting them sometime in July.

What other mansentials would you suggest for your guy? Share in the comments!

Wednesday Candy: Ryan Gosling vs. Matthew Morrison

I haven’t seen any Wednesday Candy worthy candidates lately, but yesterday I stumbled upon these photos of Ryan Gosling and Matthew Morrison. I guess sometimes good things come in twos.

Now the tough question is…who is hotter? On the one hand, we have Ryan, wearing the hell out of those grey pants…and that white shirt – super sexy, no? The only problem I have with his outfit are the shoes…I mean, white shoes? Really? I think camel-colored ones would’ve looked much more stylish.

Matthew’s shoes are also leaving me cold, but that’s not his only problem – he seems to have worn his pants off the rack. A little tailoring would’ve gone a long way to eliminate the bunching at his ankles. Still, I think he looks dapper in that suit of his and the color is killer with those baby blues…plus I still can’t get over that “Alone” rendition…le sigh.

So who will it be? Who is hotter? Ryan or Matthew?

Friday Faux Pas: This Guy

If the weather warrants the warmth of a fur coat, perhaps flip flops are not such a good idea? Actually, I don’t think flip flops on guys (other than on the beach) are ever a good idea, due to an abundance of other (classier) options! Unless you live in California and are a surfer dude, that is. This guy is neither. So…Just.Don’t!
