Wishlist: Lanvin x H&M UNICEF Tote

If ever there was an item that did good while looking oh-so-good – this Lanvin x H&M UNICEF tote would fit the bill perfectly! It’s yet another item from the (SUPER) highly-anticipated collab that is now firmly on my “To Buy” list. 30% of the tote’s price will be donated to UNICEF, as part of the All for Children campaign. And though I don’t know the price of this item at the moment, I am certain that it will cost much less than the regular Lanvin canvas totes, that can set you back up to $1200!

Good luck tomorrow…and perhaps I’ll see you on the battlefield in the store?

UPDATE: These totes are $4.95, in case you were wondering.

Don’t Miss – This Week in Toronto!

LG Fashion Week is almost here, and it seems that Toronto is buzzing with excitement! But until next week, there are plenty of things to do and see for fashion lovers in the city. Here’s a list of the do-not-miss events happening this week:

1. God Save the Queen at The Bay (Friday, October 15th)

If there’s an event this October that makes one forget about Toronto Fashion Week altogether, this one is it. For all those Brit Fashion fans, The Room at The Bay is hosting a two-day “British Invasion”, which includes designers Mark Fast, Erdem Moralioglu, Jonathan Saunders, Charlotte Olympia Dellal, Nicholas Kirkwood, Marios Schwab and Giles Deacon showing off their designs, fresh off London Fashion Week runways. And though Thursday night is guest-list only, Friday, October 15th is free for all.

Spring 2011 trunk shows will include Charlotte Olympia at 11am, The Next Wave of British Fashion Panel Discussion at 12pm, Giles Deacon at 1pm, Erdem (woohoo!) at 2pm, Nicholas Kirkwood at 3pm, and Jonathan Saunders at 4pm. This is your chance to see Spring 2011 collections up close and personal before they even hit the stores. Definitely an opportunity not to be missed. See you there?

2. Eleven Boutique Celebrates Canadian Art & Fashion

This month, Eleven celebrates top Canadian fashion designers along with the work of local Canadian artists; beginning with an installation by Toronto born artist Jenna Pietrobon, amongst a backdrop of this season’s most coveted Fall fashions and accessories.   Closing the celebratory month is a shopping evening partnering with local neighbour, The Guild Shop, the Ontario Crafts Council’s retail gallery since 1932.

Eleven Art Installation
When: Now Showing until October 15th

Celebrating Canadian Art and Fashion
When:  Thursday October 28th, 5pm – 8pm

Eleven, a boutique that carries a lot of Canadian fashion/jewelry brands is a must-visit on your next trip to Yorkville. And if you can squeeze in some culture, while supporting Canadian art & fashion? Even better.

3. Sears Canada LG Fashion Week Promotion

As one of the Fashion Week sponsors, Sears teamed up with LG for the following fashion week promos:

- Visit one of the participating stores and fill out a ballot to win 1 of 5 V.I.P. tickets to the Sears Attitude Fashion show at LG Fashion Week on October 20, 2010.

- 1 of the 5 ticket winners will also win a LG Steam Washer & Dryer* (Selected winner must be present at the Fashion show on October 20 or will forfeit the prize).

- Purchase a new LG Steam Washer & Dryer and receive a $100 Sears Gift Card, October 8 – 24, 2010

4. Dare to Wear Love Show

Ok, so this one is not happening this week, per se. But it is for a good cause, and tickets are already available, so you’d better move fast if you’d like to attend. This year, all seats are being sold in order to raise funds for the grassroots organizations in Africa on the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic, supported by the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

At 8 p.m. on Friday, October 22, ticket holders will have the opportunity to attend an exclusive cocktail party in the Fashion Environment at Heritage Court. Following the party, guests will experience Dare to Wear Love, an uplifting and unforgettable show full of African-inspired fashion, dance and music.

More than 25 talented designers including Brian Bailey, Evan Biddell, Damzels In This Dress, David Dixon, Comrags, Linda Lundström, Lucian Matis, Pat McDonagh, Jason Meyers, Nada, Kingi Carpenter, Izzy Camilleri, and many more will produce one women’s or men’s ensemble for a mix of professional models, celebrity models and friends of the designers to wear down the runway. Each designer is given six yards of eye-catching fabrics sourced from Africa to create their one-of-a-kind look.

STYLESENSE Stiletto Sprint 2010

Last year, STYLESENSE held Toronto’s very first Stiletto Sprint. It was a great event that I had the pleasure of participating in. If you weren’t there last year, I highly recommend that you try the sprint this year! All proceeds from registration fees will be donated to Look Good Feel Better, Canada’s only national charity that addresses the appearance related effects of all cancers affecting women. And you will have a chance to win some pretty great prizes! “The winner of the women’s final will receive a whopping $10,000 in cash (not to mention fame and glory)! Women’s second and third place will receive $2,500 and $1,000 respectively.” And if your man or guy friend is interested in supporting Look Good Feel Better, then he too can put on some stilettos and run like the wind (seriously, last year’s men’s race winner ran super fast) - the winner of the men’s final gets a prize of $1,000!

Date:

Friday, September 17, 2010

Time:

Registered participants to arrive at 6AM
Races take place between 6:45AM – 8:30AM

Location:

STYLESENSE, Heartland Town Centre, 5915 Rodeo Drive, Mississauga, Ontario

Registration Fee:

A minimum $25 donation to Look Good Feel Better. Plus, for every dollar you donate above $25, STYLESENSE will match it! (to a maximum of $20,000)

For shoe specs and registration, please go to www.stylesensestilettosprint.ca

For more photos from last year’s event, click here. If you do decide to join the sprint, make sure to send me some photos and let me know the results! Good luck!

H&M Fashion Against AIDS Collection Launch in Toronto

What’s guaranteed to make a rainy Toronto day better? A party at H&M, of course! Fashion Against AIDS collection launched last night at Toronto’s Queen Street H&M store, and I was super stoked to have been able to get the pieces I’ve been coveting! Among the things I bought last night was the leopard print dress (above), which I love, love, love, the leopard print raincoat (only $4!!!), a few cool tank tops, and a Missoni-inspired tank dress (only$14!!!). I really wanted to buy the zebra-print maxi dress, but unfortunately it didn’t look too flattering on my frame…but if you’ve got the body for it, it’s a must-have for the summer, and ONLY $30!!! The store was packed to the brim, and Bedouin Soundclash performed later in the evening, though I didn’t stick around to hear them play.

The whole collection is very reasonably priced, and most fabrics are natural, which is a must for me in the summer. Too bad tents, chairs, and a few other items were not available in Toronto, they would have came in super handy on my next camping trip! But the leopard print dress was there, and I snatched it up! So proud of myself…will probably wear it to next weekend’s birthday BBQ!

FAA collection is available at Toronto Queen Street location today, and 25% of sales will be donated to youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects. Cute styles, good cause – what can be better? I can think of one thing…it’d be better to get it for free, wouldn’t it? Well, last night I bought something extra, and I might just send it your way! An FAA-themed giveaway is coming soon…stay tuned.

H&M Fashion Against AIDS 2010 Collection

While the last two H&M Fashion Against AIDS collections consisted of celeb-endorsed tees and tank tops, this one seems to be much, much more than that! The festival-inspired pieces will be available on May 20th, 2010, with 25% of sales donated to youth HIV/AIDS awareness projects. And believe you me, I’ll be in stores to grab a few pieces for myself! I simply adore the bohemian feel of this collection!  There’s just so much to love, and prices, just like with their Garden Collection, are definitely right! My favorite pieces are the shoes and leopard print dress below. Fun, fab, cheap, and all for a good cause! Don’t forget to add the date to your calendars!

More pics after the jump!

A Toronto Evening With Oscar De La Renta

I know I don’t, but if you have $15,000 lying around idly and if you are a fashion lover, then this event might be for you! On April 13th, Oscar de la Renta will be present at a Suzanne Rogers’ fundraiser forchildrens’ charities! Oscar’s personal story is very inspirational, and he genuinely seems to care about helping children, as he helped build Casa Del Niño- a school and day-care centre in the Dominican Republic (his native land), which helps the impoverished children of La Romana. I watched Oscar on the View the other day (I was sick and there was nothing else on), and he really is a charismatic and engaging speaker. It would be amazing to hear him speak live, and to see his designs on the runway, of course!

And as for the $15,000 price tag, to be fair, the price is for a table of 10, which ends up costing “only” $1,500 per person. Still steep for most of us, but for the lucky few that can afford it, more power to you! Proceeds from the evening will go to benefit “HealthyKids International”.

You can request a table here!

The First Faux Pas of 2010

Lunch hour browsing at the local Forever 21 had led to an amazing discovery! Further proof of The Hilton family’s “fountain of talent”. These tees were designed by Paris and Nicky, and wouldn’t you just pay thousands of dollars for each one? I mean, I am sure Van Gogh and Da Vinci would cry sweet tears of joy had they ever been able to witness one of these…works of art!

Couldn’t they ask people that actually matter to design these charity tees? Someone with actual talent? Instead, F21 people decided to shoot the charity in the leg. Who wants to be associated with Paris Hilton, or wear her toddler-doodled designs? Though the sad, sad thing is…someone somewhere will want to spend money on this crap, because good taste is dead. Happy 2010!

World AIDS Day

stella red

December 1st is World AIDS Day. Social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook are supporting the cause by literally going red for one day. You can also show your support by turning your tweets red, wearing a red ribbon, or by purchasing this Stella McCartney for Gap (Product) RED t-shirt. Half the profits will go directly to the global fund to fight AIDS…and the tee is all kinds of cute!

Yorkdale’s Tiffany Charity Charm Bracelet

tiffany yorkdale

Sorry for being MIA for the last couple of days. Yesterday was Remembrance day here in Canada, so I enjoyed a very nice day off, free of blogging, work, or excessive Internet browsing. Instead, I went to see The Toxic Avenger last night, courtesy of le boyfriend. Still giggling about the barbershop scene. Ahh, you had to be there! Louise Pitre (in roles of Mayor, Nun, and Ma) and Daren A. Herbert (in roles of Black Dude, and a bunch of random characters – my fave was Lamas) were fantastic! I thought that the show wasn’t as good as The Evil Dead: The Musical, but it was funny and fun in its own way. If you live in Toronto, go see it while it’s still running!

But enough blabbing, the main reason for this post is explained in the photo above. Tiffany & Co designed a special Yorkdale Charm Bracelet, which will be sold for $295 at Yorkdale Mall. And the great part is that proceeds from sale will go to SickKids Foundation! Charming idea, no? Quantities are limited, so if you want to do some good, while getting some timeless bling, make sure to check it out at Yorkdale, beginning 9am on November 19th! After all, tis the season of giving!
