Versace x H&M Sneak Peek!

We should say SPASIBO to Vogue Russia for showcasing the upcoming Versace x H&M collab in such detail! Loud prints, body-con silhouettes, and gold, gold, gold all over the place – just what I had expected! I am definitely planning to pick up a few pieces from this collab, especially the silk dresses, and the bold jewelry. At this point, November 17th could not come soon enough.

Are you as excited as me? Or is this collab leaving you cold? Let me know in the comments!

H&M Conscious Collection Fall 2011

When H&M’s latest Conscious Collection photos landed in my inbox, my eyes immediately lit up. I think this season’s romantic florals, combined with ultra-feminine silhouettes, and moody colors create a perfect look for fall. The collection, which brought to mind Erdem’s grown-up florals, was said to be inspired by the “sweet romance of Swedish folklore”. Every piece in the collection is made with sustainable materials, from organic cotton or linen to recycled wool and organic hemp – making sure the designs aren’t only gorgeous, but eco-friendly as well. H&M’s Conscious Collection Fall 2011 will be hitting the shelves on October 6th, and will include home decor items, as well as clothing, shoes, and accessories.

What will you be buying?

Banana Republic x Mad Men Collection

Banana Republic x Mad Men Collection is now in stores! The show’s Emmy-winning costume designer Jenny Bryant collaborated with the retailer to create a 65-piece capsule collection of clothing, accessories, and shoes inspired by the uber-popular show.

You can expect to see a lot of 60′s silhouettes, leopard prints and grown-up florals galore, tailored suiting and dresses, and the cutest classic pumps I’ve seen in a long while. I absolutely loved the cream lace dress from the collection, as well as lace tops (that come in both black and white), which to me, are classic pieces that will never go out of style.

The clothes are definitely reminiscent of the show, but aren’t at all costumey. “The collection for Banana Republic is amazingly modern and chic and contemporary, in terms of cuts and fabric,” says Bryant. Because, presumably, not everyone is blessed with Joan Holloway’s killer hourglass proportions.

Banana Republic x Mad Men ($13-$475) collection is now available online and in stores.

H&M Party Collection 2011

Just got this in my inbox, and could not wait to share! Hell yeah, H&M Party Collection 2011! I’m loving all the masks, and disco-inspired pieces so much! But the stand-out (for me at least) are those shoes with the golden heel – so very Pierre Hardy, but (dare I say) more fun.

So what do you think? Are you liking the sneak peek from this year’s H&M Party Collection?

OBJECT for Danier by George Antonopoulos

As promised, here’s a quick sneak peek at OBJECT by George Antonopoulos for Danier Leather – an all-Canadian collaboration that will be available in stores and online in August.

Sometimes, a designer creates a collection that feels nearly tailored for you – it has all the “perfect” pieces, and all the silhouettes you never knew you needed, but now need so badly. That’s how I felt about OBJECT. The only hiccup is…as much as I’d like to think so, it wasn’t created solely for me, and lots of other people felt a personal connection to the collab - which, I guess, is a sign of a very good collection.

Creative director George Antonopoulos  put a lot of thought and care into his first designing collab with Danier. He picked quality leathers (Italian lambskin for most), slaved over the most miniscule details (lining or no lining, raw hem or not), and as a result, designed a perfect collection for a confident modern woman.

As I try to narrow down my list of wants down to a manageable few pieces, I can’t help but gush about the gorgeous dresses with leather sleeves, leather pants that will hug your curves in all the right places, thanks to the added stretch, leather tank that will look as good with a pair of jeans, as it does with a killer OBJECT leather tulip skirt, and the grey leather trench? Forgetaboutit. OBJECT is also chock full of great accessories - a dreamy art-deco-looking patent leather belt with gold or silver hardware, a couple of unisex leather clutches in faux croc, as well as a kick-ass leather tote. If I had the funds to purchase this entire collection, I don’t think I’d need to buy any other piece of anything for fall – everything I need (for work or play) is there already!

Antonopoulos, a fashion stylist by day, definitely knows what women want in clothes (as well as what works), and his first collection delivers the goods in a simple, yet stunning way. I’m certain, that come fall, OBJECT for Danier will be on everyone’s wishlists. The question is…what will your OBJECT of desire be?

Banana Republic Spring 2011 Signature Dress Collection

Can you believe the weather these last few days??? Rain, flurries, wet snow, and some more rain and snow on top of that…Can hardly tell whether it’s April or December! Thank goodness, the Banana Republic lovelies invited us to take a look at their Spring 2011 Signature Dress collection – inducing dreams of warm summer days, outdoor weddings, and garden parties.

This season’s dress collection offers more than 70 dress styles priced from $85 to $370, “ranging from black-tie to evening wear to stylish knit maxi dresses that take you from beach to chic”. Among my favorite styles, were the lovely floral dresses (both maxi and midi), and one super chic white lace shift – perfect for the office, yet dressy enough for a night out on the town. According to Simon Kneen, Creative Director of Banana Republic: “The collection was designed with the greatest intentions: to fulfill every woman’s fantasy of opening a closet and discovering one dreamy dress after another – each a vision destined to dress life’s every occasion”. And as a self-proclaimed dress girl, I must admit, I am very tempted to add more than a few of these dresses to my own closet.

Many pieces are in stores already, with new styles arriving each week. Check them out online or at the store near you…and happy shopping!

What I Wore: I’m Like a Bird

When I saw Flare Magazine’s “Prom Part Deux” contest entry requirements, I knew I had to try my luck. All I needed to do was write about my own Prom, and describe why I might deserve to have another go at it. After finding out that I won 2 tickest to the Prom at the ROM event, as well as $1000 gift certificate from BCBG, I was seriously jumping for joy. But upon further reflection, me #WINNING meant that I truly did have the best worst Prom story ever. And that, my friends, is hella sad.

Not to rehash my way too long Prom fail story, here’s just a quick summary of things that happened on Prom night (and before):

- Lost luggage on my way to Prom (dress, shoes, accessories…everything!)
- Couldn’t find a last-minute dress replacement, so I went with a very simple aka blah choice
- My mom’s hairstylist gave my shoulder-length hair some major whippage, making me look very Marge Simpson (sans le bleu)
- At Prom, my first attempt at dancing resulted in a broken heel
- Best friend loaned me some shoes from her mom’s car – black rubber cloggy type monstrosities
- Oh, and since I’ve spent my senior year studying abroad, I went without a date

So you might see now that I needed another chance at Prom. After much consideration, I went with this BCBG Max Azria Runway number. It was just too perfect for twirling, and I fell in love with the pleated side-skirt-thingamajig.

So, thank you Flare, for giving me a chance to experience Prom again…this time with a great date, a lovely dress, and a pair of heels that didn’t buckle on me. One could even say that I…had…the time of my life! And I owe it all to you.

I Wore: Dress – BCBG Max Azria Runway; Shoes – D&G; Earrings, Necklace – Aldo; Bracelet – H&M; Ring – Forever21

Natalie Portman H&M Conscious Collection

I am 99% sure that the dress Natalie Portman (Oscar-nominee, and probably winner) is wearing here is from my favorite store – H&M. And it costs…wait for it…under $100! And while, it certainly looks different on Natasha Poly here, I think Natalie looks adorable…I almost forgot she’s pregnant.

Yet another perk of being a celeb – getting things before they hit the stores. If you don’t have Natalie’s clout and love this dress…you, just like me, will have to wait until April, when the Conscious collection is officially released.

Are you loving this dress on Natalie, or is it not your cup of tea? Let me know in the comments.

What I Wore: Let Them Wear Cake

The very first time I laid my eyes on this Pepto-pink Zara dress, I was smitten. It wasn’t so much the color, but the promise of making any occasion, on which I chose to wear said dress, special and grand. The volume, the layers…and yes, the color, they all were reminiscent of a cake. And so, I had to have it.

For some reason, the only two times I’ve worn it was in Quebec. First time on a girls’ trip to Montreal, and this time in Mont Tremblant…wait for it…on Valentine’s Day. Appropriate, no? It’s like an insta-mood-enhancer. The moment I put it on, I feel…happier…lighter…poofier? Do you have an item like that in your wardrobe? Something that just makes you feel so good…What is it?

PS. Peep the Valentine’s card I got for le boyfriend. Isn’t it just the best?!

H&M Conscious Collection

This morning, when I first got these photos of H&M’s new collection – H&M Conscious, I had to do a double take. Natasha Poly, white-heavy garments, romantic and pretty. Doesn’t it remind you of Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2011 show? Same model, similar-looking clothes…but much cheaper and sustainably made. Love it so much! Once again, I can’t wait to see all these pieces in stores!

Here’s what H&M had to say about this collection:

“Sustainability is a long-term trend at H&M. This April H&M, as part of its focus on sustainability, will introduce Conscious Collection, an ongoing range for women, men and kids, made from environmentally-adapted and greener materials such as organic cotton, Tencel® and recycled polyester. H&M’s designers have been inspired by different shades of white, one of the most important colours this spring. A minimalist, tailored look is combined with romantic lace, Broderie Anglaise, frills and draping. The Conscious Collection will be on sale in all H&M stores from April 14th.”

Holidays 2010: H&M Campaign

There’s nothing that gets me more in the Christmas mood than good ads. Sure, they are as commercial as it gets and are aimed at selling things, but good holiday ads are also great at making me feel all warm and fuzzy, and most importantly – jolly! Usually, it’s the Gap ads that I love during the holiday season - the colors, the abundance of festive sweaters and plaids - they all make me want to sprint to the nearest Gap store to pick up a pair of comfy PJs, to wear on cool December evenings with a cup of hot chocolate in tow.

This year, however, I am smitten with H&M’s holiday campaign. Love the family-oriented photos, the festive styling, the diverse cast, and just the overall loveliness that this campaign exudes. These photos have me fa-la-la-la-la-ing all the way to the mall! They also make me want to have a sister. I wonder if it’s too late to ask mom for one?

What about you? Do you look forward to holiday ad campaigns? Or are they not your cup of tea hot chocolate? Let me know in the comments!
