Jill Stuart SS2010 Ads

How awesome are these Jill Stuart SS2010 ads!? I seriously need to start kicking butt at the gym in order to fit into the black dress above! I need one in my life! Love the embellishments and the colors (or the lack of). So simple, yet so chic. Less is so much more!

I Want it All…and I Want it Now!

After the initial look at the H&M Spring 2010 lookbook, I wasn’t exactly dying to go shopping – too many pastels for my taste. But this Garden Collection, ohh la la! The red dress. My goodness. It’s gorgessity, no? I love it sooo much! If any of you see it in stores, please drop me a line…because this is the dress I’ll be stalking until I get my hands on it! My closet is crying for it! Apart from the red-hot dress, there is a ton of other dresses and tops that are just too beautiful to pass up. And as if that wasn’t enough, you should also know that the Garden Collection is made using organic and recycled materials! Beautiful and mindful of the environment? Sold!

Those dresses! Love every single one! The colors! As someone that prefers color to…well, no color. I love the new limited edition Roland Mouret collection for Net-a-Porter! But as much as I love the dresses, I won’t be buying any, since they are all way out of my budget ($1495-$3070 USD). Will be hoping for well-cut knock-offs at Club Monaco instead.

Lara Stone in Numéro Magazine

Speaking of Karl. He shot Lara Stone and Baptiste Giabiconi for an editorial in Numéro magazine. The dress below is so gorgeous, it’s making me want to do bad things to my savings account. My Style Fille favorite Diane Kruger wore the Versace Atelier dress while promoting The Inglourious Basterds back in August…Ahh…to be styled by Lagerfeld…ultimate, no? Hot clothes, hot people, what else is there to life?

Shopping: H&M November 2009

hm8

Well, November is actually pretty much over, but the holiday season is still in full force! Thus this month’s H&M Shopping post is devoted to dresses, dresses, dresses…and some sweaters! There are always so many things I want at H&M that it becomes increasingly difficult not to go nuts and buy everything I try on, but thankfully some of the items aren’t available in my size – which is the only thing that stops me. Thank goodness for that!

This time around, I spotted lots of holiday-worthy dresses: golden lamé dresses, floral dresses ala Stella McCartney, and my personal favorite - black furry dress. The latter was so adorable, yet I didn’t buy it, because as per my worst fears, I ended up looking more yeti, than chic. Oh well.

I also must let you know that H&M is having an outerwear sale, with most coats and jackets going at 50% off! Hence, the below studded leather jacket is no longer $130, but a very affordable $65! That’s a pretty good deal for real leather and great fit! And my latest addiction – menswear shopping for myself is still not satiated, as I found more lovely sweaters this time around! The one with the wolf is an homage to the “3 howling wolves” t-shirt phenomenon. I hope it brings me luck in love, life, and everything else. It’s supposed to be magical, just read the amazing comments! More shopping posts are coming soon! Stay tuned!

And yes, the below cardigan is also available in H&M’s men’s section! So comfy and great for winter!

Holidays 2009: Purple Reign

cate the great

Two beautiful women, two very different dresses, one very similar color. Cate wowed the New York crowd in an Armani Privé dress, looking both elegant and regal as always, while Portman wore her Jason Wu frock to Brothers premiere. Can’t play favorites with these two, all I know is that I am looking for a purple dress after work today. I think this shade of purple would be a fab choice for the holiday parties this year! It’s not exactly traditional, but it looks gorgeous on blondes and brunettes alike, plus you’ll definitely stand out in a sea of red, black and green. If only I could afford a Privé dress! But that’s another story.

That Helmut Lang dress is perfect, no? Would love, love, love to wear something like that for the holidays, especially since I am a sucker for yellow and graphic prints. Lucky girl, that Sophia Bush! Helmut, can you hear me? Size 4, please and thank you!

Holidays 2009: H&M Party Guide

hm party guide5

The Holiday Season is upon us! Joy to the world! Ho-ho-ho! Jingle Bells! Ok, I’ll stop. But seriously, it’s about a month till Christmas, and some companies have already started throwing their Holiday Parties! Are you ready for it? Do you have something cute to wear? And not just to the office parties, most of us have other fun soirees to attend – from family dinners, to girls’ nights out – your closet needs to be prepared for the worst best! As a result, most of my party clothes have been coming straight from H&M or Zara lately. And why not? Their dresses are always cute, and are always moderately priced, allowing me to spend more moolah on Christmas shopping instead! Funny story, I went to H&M the other day, looking to buy a sweater for le boyfriend. But as soon as I walked into the men’s section, I immediately fell in love with a few sweaters! Ended up buying two of them for myself (pics are coming), and zero for le boyfriend. And why not??? That’s one of the advantages we have over the boys: we can wear their clothes, but they can’t really wear ours! Ha! And that is what I meant when I said “Christmas shopping”!

So going back to party outfits, H&M’s website has been chock-full of style ideas lately, and it seems they are more than prepared for the throngs of ladies, looking for something cute to wear! And not only are their stores full of awesome party-worthy outfits, their website is too! I really like them all, but for different occasions, obviously. What about you? Which of the below outfits would you wear to a party?

Style Fille: Camilla Belle

Camilla Belle

Ok, I am not a fan of Camilla Belle’s acting. Could never get interested in her movies, and judging by the way her movies do at the box-office, I am not the only one. But I’d be blind and idiotic, not to admit that the girl is gorgeous! The eyebrows, the face, the hair – she is definitely one of the better-looking girls in the business. And though I haven’t loved her style before (too cookie cutter-ish), I couldn’t help but do a double-take at recent photos of her, wearing Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 dress and clutch! Definitely eye-catching. This look is fresh, fabulous, and fun. As well as very age-appropriate! Way to get noticed, Camilla!

Shoulder to Cry On

urban outfitters

Or not? Those babies are so sharp, that no one in their right mind would ever want to lean on one of those! So, I’ll call it body armour! For when I’m feeling particularly fierce and unapologetic, this dress would convey everything that I refuse to say. Almost like performance art, right? Or not.

Ok, the reason this might not make much sense is because it’s Monday and I had to work on Saturday, and I didn’t get much rest this weekend, so there. No rest for the wicked. Never any rest. At least my year-end is finished, and I don’t have much to dread in the coming months. Hooray. Damn, forgot about Christmas shopping. Nevermind then.

Lanvin Love

fall-09-ads-lanvin

I’m sure you’ve seen this Lanvin ad before, but a dress I saw at Zara the other day made me think of this photo. I’m pretty sure the designers over at Zara were heavily “inspired” by Lanvin, when they created their version. This dress would be so perfect for a holiday party! And since Lanvin is currently unaffordable, I think I might just hop on over to my nearest Zara store and get me some of that! Plus I already have a black cat at home. So I guess, I’m half-way there!

Style Fille: Kate Bosworth

I must admit, that when Kate Bosworth dated Orlando Bloom, I was not her biggest fan. But as far as fashion goes, I’ve always admired her style! She never seems overdone, choosing to wear simple cuts, yet still manages to look edgy and original. And while she’s been keeping a lower profile lately, her recent outing proves that Kate has still got it! Love her outfit! Nude dress, leopard print booties, and a chain bag. Effortless, no? Me likey!

Rodarte for Target Preview

rodarte-x-target-look-book-01

It’s finally happening! The first look at the Rodarte for Target collection lookbook is here! Hooray! And so far it looks very promising! I love the ribcage print on this mini dress, but wish it wasn’t sequined. Hopefully the collection also has a similar t-shirt dress, which I would love to rock with some tights and boots. Hotness! But since it hasn’t been officially confirmed that the above image is in fact from the collection’s lookbook, we’ll just have to wait for a confirmation* and more photos. Rodarte for Target collection hits stores December 20th, 2009. I am so excited about this one! Are you?

*Update: Seventeen magazine has more photos of the collection here. So it’s confirmed, the dress is a part of the Rodarte for Target collection! Woohoo!

Bebe vs. Prada

bebe

Walking back from lunch the other day, I caught sight of a cool-looking dress inside a Bebe store. And while Bebe is certainly not my cup of tea most of the time, I was curious enough to pop in. And I was so glad that I did, because it was love at first sight! Perhaps not the most wedding-appropriate dress I could find, but the Prada resemblance, plus the leather factor sold me on this one. After polling my co-workers on “appropriate vs. not so much”, I got mostly “sure, go ahead-s” from the guys, and I could hardly wait till the end of the workday to run back to the store and try it on! But when I finally did get the faux leather creation on, I realized that the length of the dress really did not leave much to imagination. And while I did think that I could pull off the fabric and the metal adornments at the upcoming nuptials, the length of the dress did ruin it for me. And here I thought that I had it in the bag! I even spotted Carey Mulligan wearing the same Prada dress to the premiere of An Education. If only the Bebe dress had the same perfect length! Damn…So the search continues. Only 2 days to go.

2009 Emmy Awards: Best Dressed

emmys

Did you watch Emmy Awards last night? I have to admit that I did not. Instead, I re-watched Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, with my ex-crush Orlando Bloom, and my current (and longtime) one Johnny-Sparrow-Depp. When is the next one coming out? I thought they filmed it a while ago, or did I dream it up?

Anyway, Emmy fashion choices really did not impress me this time around. Stale fashions, same old, same old. Lots of black dresses in boring cuts…yawn! In my opinion, the ladies above were the ones that actually stood out from the rest: Chloe Sevigny in an unexpected polka-dotted gown, Leighton Meester in a gorgeous white Grecian dress, Ginnifer Goodwin with her adorable pixie cut, wearing a lucite necklace, and my favorite of the night – Sandra Oh in a gold strapless Marchesa gown, that fit her like a glove! If only I had the same budget as any of those actresses…I would have no problems finding something to wear to the weddings coming up. Sigh…
