What I Wore: Souped Up

Viktor-Rolf-The-Room-Party-Nelia-Belkova

Last week something awesome happened – Viktor & Rolf’s Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren stopped by The Room at The Bay while on a press visit to Toronto…and I got to meet them! Dreams do come true…for real!

The party was incredible! A string quartet played some modern tunes, there was plenty of yummy Perrier-Jouët bubbly to go around, and the crowds were dressed to the nines (The Room parties are always great for people-watching!). Bonnie Brooks was there, as were Stacey Kimmel, Rufus Wainwright, and Jeremy Laing…oh my!

As for my outfit…I decided to go less formal in my fave Club Monaco faux leather skirt, a soup tee under my trusty moto jacket, a pair of my new fave shoes from Aldo x Preen capsule collection, and a sparkly necklace to dress it up. Funny enough, I ran into Anita Clarke at the party, and we were both wearing the same shoes AND the same clutch from ela handbags! Twinsies! Well…except Anita was wearing a gorgeous Roland Mouret, while I was wearing Forever 21. But still…great minds think alike…and also, this totally shows off the versatility of fun accessories, non?

After having a quick moment alone with the belles of the ball (they were super-duper nice, by the way), my friends and I continued to mingle, checking out the new Viktor & Rolf spring collection, and making our dream wishlists, which included the clothes off designers’ backs, because those adorable embroidered jeans they both wore (one with mustaches, and the other with sunglasses) were just too awesome for words. Alas…I never got the courage to ask them about their jeans, so they stayed firmly in my dreams. But hey, Viktor and Rolf…if you see this…I’d love to do a Sisterhood of Travelling Pants thing with you. And though I’m not exactly sure how it works, I think we could start by you sending me your adorable jeans, and me wearing them…Ok? Sounds good to me.

What I Wore: Mama’s Got a Brand New Bag

what-i-wore-ela-handbags-leopard-print

Last week, you might’ve noticed a million tweets about the ela handbags sample sale, and if you weren’t sure what the big whoop was all about, this is what. This red ela Lardy satchel was one of my spoils from the sample sale war, purchased for a steal! A beauty, isn’t she?

And since I have the tendency to become obsessed with shiny new things, I couldn’t part with my new bag for days after I bought it. And you know what? It’s a perfect bag! Spacious and roomy enough for everything I need to tote with me, yet really light and comfy to carry. Gotta love sample sales.

Also, I’m hoping, that this will serve as my ginger way of getting back to taking outfit photos for real (meaning: not in front of a bathroom mirror with my iPhone), so stay tuned for more What I Wore posts. Hope you had a lovely weekend!

What I Wore: New York, New York

nyfw-fall-2013-day-30

Yup, Paris Fashion Week starts next week, and I am still catching up on my New York posts. Sorry? But not really, because life has never been more hectic than it is right now. So I apologize in advance if the next few weeks are lighter on content than usual…but life trumps blog, you know?

This was one of the only outfits that I got to photograph in New York. Not because I didn’t wear clothes (I did, I swear!), but because my photographer had to go back to Toronto, and I’m not very good at selfies. So this one will have to do. The rest of the fashion show coverage posts are coming next week. Have a great weekend!

Club Monaco Spring 2013 Lookbook Two

Club-Monaco-Spring-2013-Lookbook-Two-6

The weather-people are promising warm temperatures today, so why not pretend that it’s spring already and look at some lovely pieces from Club Monaco’s Spring 2013 Lookbook?!

This lookbook in particular is tugging at my heartstrings (and my pursestrings), because I’m becoming obsessed with all of the fun things I see here. Like that white ruffle dress, for example. It’s perfect, non? Simple, elegant, and I would wear it FOREVER…paired with the blue suede (?) moto jacket, of course.

What about you? Are you into Club Monaco’s spring offerings? Share your fave pieces in the comments.

What I Wore: Never Enough

club-monaco-coat-chanel-brooch

…coats! Because, in my opinion, if you live in a country with winters, coats are a necessity, and you can never have too many! I picked up this moss-coloured beauty at Club Monaco with an extra 30% off sale items for a steal, and since the promo will run for a few more days, I strongly urge you to take advantage. There’s another coat I have my eye on…it’s cream, with a faux fur collar, and it’s beautiful! But seeing how I’m a messy…everything, a white coat might not be the best idea…for me. But I’m still thinking about it.

What I Wore: Winter Florals

floral-leather-margiela-hm-booties

I’ve already warned you about this Club Monaco skirt…you’ll be seeing it A LOT. I have a tendency to get obsessed with one or two pieces and then wearing them all the time. No, seriously…ALL THE TIME. And this skirt is no exception.

This time, I paired it with a silk floral blouse from Joe Fresh, and my new fave Margiela with H&M booties for a simple and elegant daytime look.

What I Wore: Barenaked Ladies

margiela-bodysuit-candy-clutch

Last week, I attended the P&G Beauty and Grooming Awards, where I was a finalist in the Best Beauty or Fashion Blog category. Before making an appearance at such a high-profile event, I have to admit that there were a lot of WHATTOWEAROMGIDONTKNOWWHATTOWEAR freak-outs on my part…before I finally settled on three possible outfits…this one being my favourite.

I didn’t want to be overdressed, and I really wanted to rock my new Margiela with H&M bodysuit, so it was decided…I would wear my new leather skirt from Club Monaco, paired with the aforementioned bodysuit (that le bf hates with a passion I’ve never seen before), silver candy clutch, and a blinged out Zara necklace. I even made le bf shoot these photos before the awards…and then…I changed my mind. Worried that someone else would get the same brilliant idea, I decided to hang up my “nude” top until another such occasion, opting for a safer frock from the Lanvin at H&M collection at the very last minute.

margiela-bodysuit-candy-clutch-

When I arrived at the awards, I breathed a sigh of relief at not having worn my intended outfit…because someone else was already rocking that EXACT SAME LOOK! Ok, not really, but pretty darn close. Fashion Magazine’s Randi Bergman, wore the bodysuit and the candy clutch, paired with a leather skirt from Carven. Leather Skirt + Bodysuit + Candy Clutch = pretty much the same outfit. Though if you’ve seen Anna Dello Russo’s Fashion Shower vid, you’d know that had I worn it, we could both shrug it off and say that “we did the right choice”, and then do a dance off or something…but still…I’m glad that I changed my mind that day.

And though I haven’t actually worn this outfit to the awards, these photos are just too fun not to share! I’ll just have to wear this to work one day…and traumatize all of my colleagues…or maybe wear it to one of our date nights and watch le bf squirm while trying to block my faux bra from public view. Boys! Am I right?

What I Wore: Rebel Without a Cause

club-monaco-leather-skirt

Earlier this month Yorkdale’s new expansion wing finally opened its doors, and lucky for me, I got to stop by the new Club Monaco store to do some much-needed pre-winter shopping. Not only is the new and shiny store a visual masterpiece to behold (seriously, check out the details next time you stop by), but it’s also pretty much impossible to walk away empty-handed from the amazing selection currently in stores.

I’ve had my eye on the Candace leather circle skirt for weeks now, so I made sure to take the time to finally try it on…after which it became perfectly clear, that I couldn’t walk away without it. The perforated detailing and the breezy fit made this one a winner for me. I love that it’s girlie, but also tough, and I’ve already paired it with half the shirts in my closet. It goes with everything!

The other item I picked up during opening night was a Beatrice Sweater in grey. Asymmetrical hemline, softest cashmere, and open knit? Yes, please! This sweet sweater will surely keep me nice and toasty this winter, and more importantly…le bf actually approves! Score and score!

There were also oodles of printed pants, cozy sweaters, embellished tops, skirts, and dresses in perfect winter shades, and even vintage designer goodies too! So if you haven’t had a chance to stop by the new store, make sure to check it out. You know you want to!

It’s Day 6 of Style Days of Christmas Giveaways, and though I try not to play favourites, I have to say that today’s prize is pretty amazeballs! With amazing retailers like LOFT, Ann Taylor, Ted Baker, Kate Spade, Tesla, L’OccitaneAnthropologie, Club Monaco, Diesel and more…the newly-built wing is a sight to behold…and a shopping heaven for the fashion-obsessed.

club-monaco-yorkdale-toronto

At the grand opening, I got to visit the first ever LOFT store in Canada, where I freaked out over all the shiny baubles (perfect for the holidays), tried on some holiday frocks at Ann Taylor, dressed a mannequin at Diesel, freaked out over everything at Club Monaco’s first custom-built store in Canada (the details are incredible!), and had to be dragged kicking and screaming out of Kate Spade, because I wanted it all!

And now, I want you to have it all…or at least a $100 Yorkdale Gift Card to use at your favourite Yorkdale store!  Sounds good? Enter below!

What I Wore: In the Buff

club-monaco-skirt

Palm trees, sandy beaches, sunshine, yummy food and sangria…just a few things I miss about Barcelona. I also must admit that I kind of miss seeing all the nudists first thing in the morning, while making our way to the subway. After a couple of days, le bf and I turned it into a game of “I spy”. As in “I spy two old men talking to each other, one not wearing anything, and the other one in a speedo”…or “I spy a family (mom, dad, and kid)…all in the buff, playing in the sand”…or…well, you get the point.

But despite the entertainment value of nudity…obviously, I chose to wear clothes instead. For one, I can’t get enough of this Club Monaco maxi skirt…light, breezy, billowy…it feels like nothing when it’s on! Paired with a loose tank – it’s my go-to outfit this summer. In case you haven’t noticed, my new Tory Burch bag saw a ton of action on my vacation too. Who knew that orange goes so well with everything?

And there you have it…an outfit that feels as comfy as being naked, without looking it. What’s your go-to outfit for hot and sticky summer days? Share in the comments.
