What I Wore: Like Dandelion Dust

Can someone please tell me why dandelions are considered a weed, and carnations are still called a flower? I really don’t get it. Personally, I am a huge dandelion fan. Seeing those fuzzy-looking yellow flowers popping up all around the city is a clear sign that summer is on its way, and sunny days are ahead. This year, I’ve been extra sun-deprived (exhibit one: see my corpse-colored legs above…no photo-editing was performed…they really are that grey), so I’m thinking that I’ll have to resort to self-tanners.

Any good ones out there that won’t turn me into a Snooki lookalike? Something drastic must be done to take care of this grey skin situation. Some girl on the subway actually gave my legs a disgusted look…though it might’ve been directed at the suspicious looking puddle on the floor…but I think it was my legs. So…any advice, short of hiding in a basement until winter rolls around again? Help!

Wishlist: Chanel This, Chanel That

Apart from the 2.55 in classic black caviar leather, most Chanel pieces that I find myself coveting are the borderline crazy ones. Case in point, when The Coveteur posted their Jen Brill profile today, I was once again reminded that the Matryoshka bag is still not in my closet, nor do I own a pair of lightbulb-heel stilettos – both objects that I don’t necessarily need…but oh-so-want! Unfortunately, due to the fact that these items were super exclusive to begin with (not to mention unaffordable), chances of me ever adding these pieces to my wardrobe are slim to none, unless I rob Jen Brill that is (where does she live again?). So the moral of the story is - if you can’t afford the real deal, DIY!

And now if you’ll excuse me, I have some lightbulbs to glue to my shoes.

One more SHOT after the jump!

What I Wore: Here Comes the Sun

Last weekend was all about moms everywhere…and of course, one of the first days it actually felt like spring! Finally. Which is why I spent most of my time outdoors: brunching at SCHOOL’s patio, admiring cherry blossoms in High Park, and spending lots of time with my tiny nephew at a playground. Sometimes, the simplest things in life are the ones that bring you the most joy. In my case, it was one of the best weekends in a while…food, sunshine, and the cutest little boy in the entire world (I might be slightly biased). I couldn’t ask for more.

Shopping: Chanel Paris – Moscow Rubber Boots

Do you love Chanel? Are you a size 37? If you said yes to both questions, then you might just be in luck! A couple of days ago, I spotted these amazing fur-lined Chanel rubber boots from the coveted Paris-Moscow collection at Winners on College St. Perfect for winter! And though these beauties were deeply discounted, Chanel does not come cheap…and these will set you back $799 CAD (before tax).

These boots are definitely not for everyone, but if you do end up bringing these home, I will be eternally jealous. Good luck!

What I Wore: Are We There Yet?

WARNING: Rant ahead

I am getting serious now! Are we there yet? When will winter be gone already? I am so tired…sooo tired of the cold! I just want some warmth on my face, and for my skin to stop being blue! Seriously, my hands look like they belong to a smurf!

I’m also getting super sick of my parka…I’m thinking of organizing a “BURN, WINTER, BURN” event, where we all throw our parkas into the bonfire, dance around it, while laughing maniacally. Any takers? Anyone? So last weekend, instead of donning the usual…I wore the usual with a lighter coat on top! One small step for me, one giant leap closer to spring…or something.

Rant over.

How are you dealing with winter blues, people? Share some get-happy tips soon, or I might just curl up in a ball and cry for the rest of the winter days.

What I Wore: A Good In-Vest-Ment

If you thought I was kidding about a vestervention, I wasn’t. Here it is yet again…this time with a white button-up and some amazing superhero leggings from Durumi. I picked them up during the Boxing Week sale – half off! I actually wanted a similar pair from Black Milk last Christmas, but I like these better…not as sheer.

I’m also wearing my new Proenza Schouler boots that I also got on sale at The Room…An amazing deal, and they are extremely comfy! But I’ll probably wait until the snow is gone to wear them more often. Don’t want to ruin them, like I usually do my other footwear. I also bought a pair of Pierre Hardys at the same time, and I can’t wait to show them to you! They are so beautiful! All I need is an occasion to wear them!

From Santa With Love

So, after months of waiting, Christmas has come and gone. And apart from the extra pounds gained from eating turkey  roast beef, various mayo-based salads, deviled eggs, prosciutto wrapped breadsticks, sfoglia, tiramisu, and a ton of chocolates…all that’s left are the presents…not that I’m complaining.

And though DVDs are certainly an amazing gift for Christmas, seeing how I’ve been watching How I Met Your Mother non-stop for hours now, my top three gifts this year were:

1. Ghost Chair (from Kitchen Stuff Plus)
2. YSL turquoise ring from (from Saks)
3. Chanel chain necklace/belt (from Chanel)

Granted, I loved everything else Santa brought me this year, but these certainly made me jump with excitement! Did you get everything you hoped for from Santa this Christmas? Or did you get everything you wanted during Boxing Day sales?

What I Wore: Sasquatch Bear

Wore this fuzzy sweater to the One of a Kind Show and to watch Tangled on Sunday. Got stopped by practically every woman I met, because they all wanted to touch me. No, not like that…it’s just that a lot of them thought that I looked like a giant teddy bear – soft and huggable. Le boyfriend on the other hand, thought that I looked more like a Chewbacca or a Sasquatch. Pot-ay-to, Pot-ah-to. Man repelling to the extreme, but still huggable? I’ll take it.

On the practical side, though, I loved wearing a maxi dress (with leggings underneath) and a cozy sweater this Sunday - it turned out to be a warm and comfortable outfit, with some style points deducted while wearing a coat on top…which made me look like a nun. A nun with super red lips, nonetheless.

How was your weekend? Share in the comments, lovelies!

What I Wore: Girls’ Night Out

Wore this to dinner with my girlfriends last Friday. We went to Osteria Ciceri e Tria and ended up having a blast of a time, catching up on gossip, latest adventures and holiday plans. Haven’t hung out with my besties in a while now. I mean, sure, we’ve gotten together for lunches and shopping sprees, but not like that, not all-together at a dinner table, dolled up and not having to rush-rush-rush…not in a while now.

The holidays are almost here, there’s only one more month left until Christmas, and then it’ll be all turkey, champers and mistletoe…and of course, family, friends, and loved ones. It’s my favorite time of the year! And also, the time of the year, I tend to slow down on blogging, working, and running around…trying to focus on the small things that make me happy instead. My top three (apart from hanging out with my loved ones) are: mushy holiday films (Love Actually, Bridget Jones’ Diary), baking cookies and brownies, and wrapping Christmas presents. What are yours?

Holidays 2010: Dear Santa…

Ahh, Christmas-time! The time of “giving and receiving as well as having and sharing”. To be quite honest, I struggled with my list this year…not because I don’t want things, but because, mostly, I feel like whatever I do want, I end up buying for myself (excluding Chanel 2.55). So here’s this year’s Christmas Wishlist of things that I haven’t bought for myself…just yet.

1. Salvatore Ferragamo Flats

Classic, comfy, lovely. Also want the “Miss Vara” belt, as seen here.

2. YSL Wallet

Technically, I am in love with the entire Y-Mail collection, but this beautiful wallet would surely rid me of my winter blues.

3. Charlotte Olympia Shoes

Ok, so this one is more of a “dream” wishlist item, considering the price. But after meeting Charlotte at a recent event, I’m not only in love with the witty Brit, but with her entire Spring 2011 collection.

4. Chanel Wallet on a Chain

Not even sure if this one is available in stores anymore, but I adore its simplicity and versatility. Wallet for the daily grind, and a chic clutch for nights out – all in one cute quilted little package.

5. Lanvin for H&M Dress

I don’t even know why I put this one on my Christmas wishlist, since I already know that I’ll be lining up outside my local H&M bright and early come November 20th. But in case Santa can really hear me…Please, please, please, give me luck (and strength) to get the dresses I want amidst the madness that is sure to ensue.

6. Chanel Earrings

These are vintage, and I’ve been looking for a similar pair in gold for quite some time now. Not an impossible item, but surely is a tough one to get.

7. Pierre Hardy for Gap Shoes

These peep-toe wedges are as amazing-looking, as they are kick-ass. Too bad I can’t find a pair in my size!

8. YSL Ring

Various versions of this ring have been available for a while now, and though at first I was clearly smitten with the one in turquoise, this indigo blue ring is a bit more…glam? Regardless, I love this combo the best!

So far, I only have 8  items on my Christmas wishlist. 2 more to come soon…as soon as I see something shiny that catches my eye!

What’s on your list this year? Any suggestion on the remaining 2? Share in the comments!

Details after the jump!

What I Wore: Bella Venezia

Lots of people told me that Venice is not worth it, that it’s smelly, dirty, crowded, overrated, and not very special. Well, I guess opinions are just opinions, no offence to my friends, but I really loved Venice. Mostly because we spent most of our time away from the tourist attractions, and stuck to the smaller streets…wandering, exploring, getting lost and loving it.

Have you ever been? In my opinion, it’s worth every penny.

What I Wore: Billabong Intarsia Sweater (aka The Sweater)

I’m back from my little European getaway…and as sad as it was to say good-bye to my best friend and her amore, I am definitely happy to be sleeping in my own bed. That’s the thing about me and travelling - I’m always eager to leave Toronto for some new exciting place, but am always very happy to come back. I guess, that’s how you know if your house is a home too.

If you know me, you know that I am a pretty good packer. For the last 8 or so years, I’ve travelled with my trusty green Heys carry-on, and it’s never let me down once. But the thing about carry-ons is that there’s not much room for error. Everything I packed had to be worn at least twice or more. And this year’s most-used item was definitely this Billabong Intarsia sweater that I picked up at a Yorkdale Billabong store during the Fall 2010 preview! It’s extremely comfy, eye-catching, and I wore it with everything on this trip. I got a ton of looks and compliments on it, and once I get around to doing some laundry, I will continue wearing it all through the fall.

What about you? Do you play favorites with your clothes? Share in the comments.

Shopping: Fall 2010 Essentials

Here in Canada, we’ve been royally spoiled this summer – endless summer days, warm patio nights, trips to the lake, and finally some sort of resemblance of a tan! I don’t think we’ve ever had a summer this amazing! But as they say, eventually all good things come to an end. And here we are, going into another fall season, pretty hopeless after completely blocking out what it feels like to walk through slush and hurricane-like freezing winds (or is it just me?).

So in order to get excited about the inevitable chill, I thought I’d share some of my Fall 2010 Essentials with all of you (if you want to see my Fall 2009 essentials, click here). Read about them after the jump!

What I Wore: To the Moon and Back

I have a backlog of posts coming (hopefully) soon, but in the meantime, here’s what I wore to last night’s Moon Apparel launch party. As you might remember, I’ve been searching for a pair of leather shorts for a while now…and I found them at Danier a couple of weeks ago! Not too short, not too tight, cuffed, and perfect. Just the way I wanted them! And the best part of all is that I got them on sale. What’s not to love?

Also wore a new necklace from Balisi, which has a cute story behind it. Last week, at the Taste of the Danforth festival, my friends and I went into Balisi to check out their sale (amazing deals, by the way) and I really liked this necklace. It was only $30, but I couldn’t justify buying yet another chain necklace, having decided a while back that I am only allowed to buy serious jewelry. Not even 30 minutes later I lost $20. After telling le boyfriend the story, I lamented that I should’ve spent the said lost money on the necklace instead, so at least I’d have something to show for it. Next day after brunch with my girls, le boyfriend showed up with a Balisi bag! Apparently, he texted my friend to find out what kind of a necklace it was, went to the Danforth to buy it and they were sold out! He then went to their College location, bought it and brought it to me. How freaking sweet is that? Sorry if it’s too sugary of a story, but I just really love that man! Yeah, I said it. Ok, I’ll stop now…Moon Apparel post is coming soon!

I Wore: Shirt, Men’s Bracelet, Ring - H&M; Shorts – Danier Leather; Shoes – Aldo; Necklace – Balisi; Backpack – Chanel
