Wishlist: Small Frame Bags

Some trends literally make me grimace in terror (cough*clogs*cough), while with others I am instantly drawn and…sold. Such is the case with the new non-it-it-bag – The Small Frame Bag. Having watched my Style Fille fave Diane Kruger toting the above Hermès version for a while now, I’ve made a mental note to keep my eye open for a mere mortal affordable option for myself. But once I’ve spotted one at Zara, the flurry of doubts clouded my judgement and I walked away empty handed.

My main concern? Lack of space. In our ever-so-fast-paced world of iPhones, iPads, and other useless-ish crap, I find myself struggling with an idea of a small frame bag. There’s just too much stuff I tote around on a daily basis to be able to minimize it all to fit into a tiny rectangle of leather. So I ask you, stylish Style Blog readers, do you think small frame bags’ chicness outweighs their lack of practicality? Take the poll below!

What do you think about the new Small Frame Bag trend?

Wishlist: Camel

Not the animal, silly! The color! More specifically – a camel wool coat. The dynamic duo of The Sartorialist and Garance Doré have been posting photos of camel-clad fashionistas ever since the beginning of Fall 2010 fashion week season, and it looks like the trend (most visible on the catwalk of Céline) is here to stay. So simple, timeless, and chic – makes me kind of wish I hadn’t gifted my camel-colored cashmere  coat to a friend in Houston when I moved to Toronto. Is it in poor taste to ask for it back? Ok, I won’t, but I guess a shopping expedition is in order.

Hermès, McQueen, and G-Star…Oh, My!

Spring 2010 ads have been steadily pouring in for over a month now, and in the midst of even mild winter, here in Toronto, it’s quite nice to look at the beautiful Spring collections and dream of what’s ahead! Karlie Kloss’ stint for Hermès is one of my favorites – those scarves, that hair, the locale. Such a dreamy paradise shot!

And then there’s Raquel Zimmermann for Alexander McQueen. What a brave girl! The collection, which was full of reptile prints on the runway, translates quite well into the printed ads, featuring the slithery, yet beautiful creatures, and of course, Raquel wrapped up in their cold-blooded embrace. Now that’s what I call professionalism. Because if those snakes were slithering anywhere near me…don’t even want to imagine! Though I must admit, the McQueen ad is definitely one of the more eye-catching and stunning photographs I’ve seen lately!

Which one of the Spring ads is your favorite?

ScarJo for Mango SS2010

New pics of Scarlett Johansson landed in my inbox this morning, and I am not disappointed with this campaign. Not in the very least. Granted, we only get to see two looks from the collection so far, but the Celine-like trench-dress alone is totally worth a Mango trip! Thoughts?

Paris Fashion Week Spring 2010

PFW1

Paris Fashion Week wraps up tomorrow, but I am too anxious to wait, so I’ll give you my faves today! Oh, Paris, how I love thee! So many amazing designers, so many beautiful creations…oh, how I wish I was there. I’ve been to Paris a few times now, and every time I find something different, something new to love about the city of light. And as far as fashion weeks go, this one is my favorite, hands down.

Again, I’m not sure if it’s because I am trying to see it, or if it really is an upcoming trend, but I am seeing nudes everywhere! But this being the Spring 2010 fashion week, there was plenty of color too! My favorite yellow at Stella McCartney, aqua at Viktor & Rolf, Kenzo, and McQueen, gorgeous red at Lanvin, orange at John Galliano, and many others.

And while I love me some Chanel, I wasn’t very impressed with anything from the spring collection this time around (or maybe it’s the clogs), so I am not including it in the highlights lineup. The collection I am definitely including is Alexander McQueen! Just look at the details! It’s underworld meets bug’s life! The fabrics, the shapes, the shoes, the hair! I couldn’t pick one, I love it all!

And while, others are showering Louis Vuitton’s collection with praise, to me…I just didn’t get it. More clogs, furry tails hanging off shoes, mish-mash of shapes and patterns. Not my cup of tea. And seriously, are you kidding me with this…are clogs really going to be in this coming spring??? I, for one, will never ever wear clogs! This is a promise. There’s far too many beautiful shoes out there to waste my time wearing something so ugly!

So c’est tout for Paris Fashion Week Spring 2010. I’m feeling a little sad to have to wait until the Resort collections will be released, but I think we had a great run with all these amazing clothes from London, New York, Paris, Milan…I guess we all can start making our wish lists for spring!
