Milly for Banana Republic Spring 2013 Collection Lookbook

Milly_Look_01

If you’ve ever found yourself scrambling to find a perfect dress when you need one, then this Milly for Banana Republic collection is for you! There are so many beautiful dresses to choose from (both dressy and casual), you are pretty much guaranteed to never have a bad outfit day all summer long! From the very wedding-appropriate pleated maxi, to the adorable (and work-appropriate) chevron-striped shift dress, my mind is spinning from all of these bright and beautiful dresses.

But not only does this collection have frocks for every occasion, the rest of the pieces are just as lovely. This summer, I will be picking up a pair of bright paisley shorts (to be worn exactly as shown in this lookbook), a ton of turquoise jewelry, and a silver tote to carry all of my essentials in.

Milly for Banana Republic collection will launch on May 30th in select stores, and will include over 60 pieces for women and men, priced from $39.50 to $175.

Wishlist: Banana Republic’s Megan Draper-inspired Mad Men Collection

banana-republic-mad-men-megan-draper-collection-2013

I don’t know about you, but I’m in love with Banana Republic’s latest capsule collection inspired by Mad Men’s Megan Draper. Co-designed by costume director Janie Bryant, the pieces certainly have that retro-feel, what with the mod shapes, geometric patterns, and short-ish hemlines – totally my steeze! Too bad the Zou Bisou dress didn’t make the cut. Maybe next time? Nevertheless, come February 27th, I will be making my way to a Banana Republic store to inject that 60′s flare into my spring wardrobe.

But let’s not forget about the boys…ahem…men. Menswear collection includes a couple of “Don Draper Casual Friday” looks, as well as a super sexy/super sleek blue suit, that I can’t wait to get for le bf!

Are you excited for the second Mad Men collection from Banana Republic? What are your fave pieces?

What I Wore: Barenaked Ladies

margiela-bodysuit-candy-clutch

Last week, I attended the P&G Beauty and Grooming Awards, where I was a finalist in the Best Beauty or Fashion Blog category. Before making an appearance at such a high-profile event, I have to admit that there were a lot of WHATTOWEAROMGIDONTKNOWWHATTOWEAR freak-outs on my part…before I finally settled on three possible outfits…this one being my favourite.

I didn’t want to be overdressed, and I really wanted to rock my new Margiela with H&M bodysuit, so it was decided…I would wear my new leather skirt from Club Monaco, paired with the aforementioned bodysuit (that le bf hates with a passion I’ve never seen before), silver candy clutch, and a blinged out Zara necklace. I even made le bf shoot these photos before the awards…and then…I changed my mind. Worried that someone else would get the same brilliant idea, I decided to hang up my “nude” top until another such occasion, opting for a safer frock from the Lanvin at H&M collection at the very last minute.

When I arrived at the awards, I breathed a sigh of relief at not having worn my intended outfit…because someone else was already rocking that EXACT SAME LOOK! Ok, not really, but pretty darn close. Fashion Magazine’s Randi Bergman, wore the bodysuit and the candy clutch, paired with a leather skirt from Carven. Leather Skirt + Bodysuit + Candy Clutch = pretty much the same outfit. Though if you’ve seen Anna Dello Russo’s Fashion Shower vid, you’d know that had I worn it, we could both shrug it off and say that “we did the right choice”, and then do a dance off or something…but still…I’m glad that I changed my mind that day.

And though I haven’t actually worn this outfit to the awards, these photos are just too fun not to share! I’ll just have to wear this to work one day…and traumatize all of my colleagues…or maybe wear it to one of our date nights and watch le bf squirm while trying to block my faux bra from public view. Boys! Am I right?

What I Wore: Grey’s Anatomy

label-mavi-alexa

Wore this outfit the other day to work…and today, I’m wearing something very similar again, all thanks to my addiction to this LABEL Clothing top. Not only is it super comfy, but it’s got style for miles! I mean, just look at that removable leather panel! With it on, or off, this sweater looks incredible…and it’s Canadian too!

This time, I paired it with my new waxed Mavi Alexa jeans in a very subtle snakeskin print, a bib necklace from Banana Republic’s stunning Anna Karenina collection, and new fave shoes in my closet – Devon flats from Stuart Weitzman. I think this outfit is as simple as they come, but with a lot of special touches, that make this one of my favorite looks in a while.

Shopping: Fall 2012 Essentials

fall-2012-must-haves

Fall is the most dangerous time of the year…for my wallet. What with gorgeous coats, boots, and leather pieces all over the place, I can’t help but drool over so many (too many) things. And while I try to be good most of the time, some things are just necessities. Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Above are just a few of those “necessities” of mine. Curious to know what yours are. Share in the comments!

What I Wore: Ladylike

ladylike

It’s Monday…again…and today, I am feeling very ladylike. Silk blouse, lace skirt, Chanel bag, and pointy toe pumps – as classic as it gets, right? Well, it wouldn’t be a “me” outfit, if I didn’t add another…more fun item to my look. And this time, it’s a faux fur Joe Fresh vest I picked up at their Nuit Blanche party this weekend. It’s soft, warm, super comfy…and I love it so much! Kinda adds a granny feel to this outfit, no? But I really don’t mind. Actually, I have a feeling you’ll be seeing a lot more of this vest on Style Blog this fall.

So how was your weekend? Did you visit Nuit Blanche? Participate in CIBC Run for the Cure? Watch Once Upon a Time and Revenge? Let me know in the comments!

What I Wore: Desk to Dinner

orange-pleated-skirt

When I was asked to style this Banana Republic skirt to take me from desk to dinner, I obviously said yes! Pleated and orange, this skirt is a super versatile combo of the two of my most favorite things!

And this outfit might just become my fave this fall – crewneck sweater cinched at the waist over a flowy skirt. Appropriate for work, cute enough for dinner and drinks, and super easy to throw together! It’s a winner in my books.
