What I Wore: Paisley and Fish Scales

prada-fish-scale-clutch

Shooting outfit posts in the winter sucks. There, I said it. Half the time, I am bundled up to my chin in a blanket-like Canada Goose jacket and a pair of comfy boots, while the other half, you can find me in my PJs. Not very blog-post-worthy. So this outfit is from October, when the weather was still leather-jacket-perfect and going tights-less didn’t feel like an act of rebellion and/or insanity. Sorry for recycling, but fresh outfit posts are coming SOON! I promise.

Style Days of Christmas: Yorkdale $100 Gift Card Giveaway

Style Days of Christmas Day 6 Yorkdale Gift Card Giveaway

It’s Day 6 of Style Days of Christmas Giveaways, and though I try not to play favourites, I have to say that today’s prize is pretty amazeballs! As you might know already, I am part of Yorkdale’s Style Council, and last week, I attended the shopping centre’s expansion grand opening. With amazing retailers like LOFT, Ann Taylor, Ted Baker, Kate Spade, Tesla, L’OccitaneAnthropologie, Club Monaco, Diesel and more…the newly-built wing is a sight to behold…and a shopping heaven for the fashion-obsessed.

At the grand opening, I got to visit the first ever LOFT store in Canada, where I freaked out over all the shiny baubles (perfect for the holidays), tried on some holiday frocks at Ann Taylor, dressed a mannequin at Diesel, freaked out over everything at Club Monaco’s first custom-built store in Canada (the details are incredible!), and had to be dragged kicking and screaming out of Kate Spade, because I wanted it all!

And now, I want you to have it all…or at least a $100 Yorkdale Gift Card to use at your favourite Yorkdale store!  Sounds good? Enter below!

What I Wore: Perfect

striped-dress

I’ve always wanted a perfect breton striped dress, but could never find one quite perfect enough. Well, my search is finally over! This super comfy Gap dress is IT! It’s long enough for work, but not too long, the fabric is just thick enough, and the cut is very flattering. What’s not to love, right? I might just have to get a second one, in case I wear this one out.

What I Wore: Bright Lights, Big City

zigzag-stripes-dress

This weekend, le bf and I went to the CNE, to play silly games, eat Tiny Tom’s donuts, check out the food trucks, and just enjoy the annual fun fest. And let me tell you…it was FUN-tabulous!

I tried to win Super Domo in the Bowler Roller game, but couldn’t get to the 5th upgrade, so we took home a pink flamingo instead. Le bf also won me a Minion from the Despicable Me movie – I’ve always wanted one! Nothing like two stuffed toys to make this blogger happy.

After the games, we made our way to the International Pavilion, where I found an amazing life-sized cut-out of Fabio, which in retrospect, I wish I’d bought…because who wouldn’t want Fabio in their living room every single day? The store also had Elvis, Harry Potter, Batman, and others…but sadly, no cut-outs of Ryan Gosling or Michael Fassbender. But I guess those two’ve got nothing on Fabio.

What about you? Are you taking advantage of the last sunny days of summer? Let me know in the comments.

Ann Taylor Holiday 2012 Collection Preview

ann-taylor-holidays-2012

Though this weekend was pretty warm, shorter days remind me that fall and winter are just around the corner. Yup…pretty depressing. But one thing that tends to cheer me up is the promise of upcoming holidays and holiday goodies! Earlier this month, Ann Taylor gave us a sneak peek of what’s to come in the next few months, including sweet Christmas prezzies, perfect outfits for those awesome holiday soirees, and lots more.

My favorites included mint-colored patterned trousers, shiny baubles, and loads of pretty dresses. Lots to get excited about!

Take a look and let me know if you see something that you like!

What I Wore: Orange Crush

orange-stripes

I’ve been looking at this dress on ASOS for months, unsure whether to order it or not. And now, so close to the end of summer, I finally gave in, and ordered it. It’s somewhat see-through, and the back is a bit too low-cut for me, but I love the cheerful combo of these multi-color stripes too much to return it. Le bf definitely doesn’t like the baggy fit, but for me – the extra volume adds to the breeziness of this fun maxi. It’s simply perfect on those hot and sticky days. Plus, it’s not the first, nor the last piece of clothing le bf and I will disagree on.

Hope y’all had a great weekend! Let’s get this week started!

Ann Taylor Fall 2012 Preview

ann-taylor-toronto-canada

If you still haven’t heard, both Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft will be coming to Toronto this year, and while I was stuck in bed, chugging Nyquil, Ann Taylor previewed their Fall 2012 offerings at the Carlu. This fall, at Ann Taylor, you’ll be able to find a ton of great office staples, colorful outerwear, as well as gorgeous shoes and accessories. And if you used to shop Ann’s lovely selection in the states, now you can do the same without having to trek across the border. Yet another win for Toronto!
