Pinko, in my mind, will always be associated with this ugly…and I mean UGLY…baseball cap my best friend insisted on wearing during our trip to Italy. And no amount of begging and hating could change her mind on that hideous article of headgear. A few years later, Erin Wasson is the new face of Pinko, and the hate is subsiding. Love the shots (Terry Richardson to the core)! Love the styling! Especially the see-through lace dress! Very reminiscent of Erin’s earlier looks. Maybe next time I’m in Europe, I’ll finally be able to set foot in Pinko without shuddering at the memory of that cap, and think about Erin instead!

Spring 2010 ads have been steadily pouring in for over a month now, and in the midst of even mild winter, here in Toronto, it’s quite nice to look at the beautiful Spring collections and dream of what’s ahead! Karlie Kloss’ stint for Hermès is one of my favorites – those scarves, that hair, the locale. Such a dreamy paradise shot!
And then there’s Raquel Zimmermann for Alexander McQueen. What a brave girl! The collection, which was full of reptile prints on the runway, translates quite well into the printed ads, featuring the slithery, yet beautiful creatures, and of course, Raquel wrapped up in their cold-blooded embrace. Now that’s what I call professionalism. Because if those snakes were slithering anywhere near me…don’t even want to imagine! Though I must admit, the McQueen ad is definitely one of the more eye-catching and stunning photographs I’ve seen lately!
Which one of the Spring ads is your favorite?

New pics of Scarlett Johansson landed in my inbox this morning, and I am not disappointed with this campaign. Not in the very least. Granted, we only get to see two looks from the collection so far, but the Celine-like trench-dress alone is totally worth a Mango trip! Thoughts?

Ok, so this is apparently old news now, but even French fast food places are infinitely more chic than the ones in Canada! McDonald’s restaurants in France (at least since September) are selling macarons at their fast-food locations! And not just any old macarons, their supplier is The Holder – Ladurée’s owner (and if you are a macaron lover and haven’t tried a Ladurée macaron yet - shame on you!). What I don’t understand, however, is why, oh why would anyone head to a McD for a macaron, when the country is chock-full of delicious patisseries. Still though…the ads are tres cute!

How awesome are these Jill Stuart SS2010 ads!? I seriously need to start kicking butt at the gym in order to fit into the black dress above! I need one in my life! Love the embellishments and the colors (or the lack of). So simple, yet so chic. Less is so much more!

How amazing is this new Lanvin ad? I want that white dress so badly! It’s not fair that celebs get access to these fantastic pieces, and us, regular folk never do. Le sigh. Might go to Holts to try it on and daydream of owning it one day. But not before a Chanel 2.55, of course!

I love Sasha Pivovarova! Not because she’s Russian like moi, but also because she’s a beautiful model, an artist and so much more! These Holiday ads are so much better because of her radiant smile, no? And the tall, dark, handsome and scruffy male model isn’t too bad either!

I’m sure you’ve seen this Lanvin ad before, but a dress I saw at Zara the other day made me think of this photo. I’m pretty sure the designers over at Zara were heavily “inspired” by Lanvin, when they created their version. This dress would be so perfect for a holiday party! And since Lanvin is currently unaffordable, I think I might just hop on over to my nearest Zara store and get me some of that! Plus I already have a black cat at home. So I guess, I’m half-way there!

Finally an H&M male model that doesn’t look like a Geico caveman! As promised to my male readers, here’s some menswear ad campaign photos for H&M’s Fall 2009 knitwear collection (and some womenswear after the jump). I, myself, really love wearing knits during the fall and winter months, and even in the spring. They are just so comfy, cozy and warm! I already picked up a couple of sweaters at H&M this season. They always have so many styles to choose from and it’s getting colder and colder each day! Happy Friday everyone! Stay warm!

Have you heard of Blanco? Unlike Mango and Zara, this store also hails from Spain. And of course, since European clothing companies take their precious time expanding to North America, we, Canadians, still don’t have a taste of Blanco here. Last time I was in Madrid, I wasn’t too impressed with the collection in stores, but the new Winter 2010 lookbook is really making me change my mind about the brand. Maybe it’s the lovely photos, but I am in love with it all: shoes, dresses, sequins. So pretty! So romantic! And just like with Topshop, all I can do is mope around and wish it was here. Sigh.

Remember that Sex and The City episode when Carrie missed the last ferry to Manhattan because she lost her “Choo”? Well, November 14th the H&M versions of the famous shoes will be available in select stores. As I’ve mentioned before, I am a little underwhelmed by the previews of the collection, but then again, I’ll need to see it in stores to decide whether any of the pieces are worthy of the precious space in my already overcrowded closet. So far, I really like the Grecian-looking leather dress that Tamara Mellon is wearing, as well as the thigh-high leather boots. But purchasing those will definitely depend on the fit. What about you? Are you counting down the days until you can get your hands on a pair of Jimmy Choos for H&M or do you think that the collection is overrated?

I’ve always admired Jennifer Connelly’s beauty and acting chops, so was pretty excited to see her starring in Balenciaga ads again. The clothes are beautiful, while Connelly herself seems to almost disappear (apart from her awkward posing). Which I guess is the point – helps showcase the clothes, not the person wearing them. Love the rich, opulent colors and fabrics. Moody gorgeousness.

It seems that fur is going to be everywhere this fall! I wouldn’t buy the real thing, but would definitely consider faux. Already bought a faux fur knitted vest from H&M, and still thinking about a jacket (there are a few cute ones at Zara).
Not surprisingly, fur is also in Isabel Marant’s Fall 2009 ads featuring Milla Jovovich. Milla seems to be doing well, starring in the Perfect Getaway, newly married, and now in Marant’s campaign. Busy girl!
Anyway, back to fur…love the jacket below. Just hope it isn’t real!

So London Fog’s Chief Marketing Officer explained the company’s decision to Photoshop Gisele Bundchen’s “visible” baby bump in their latest campaign, by saying: “Although Gisele was photographed while pregnant, most of the shots have been retouched to respect her privacy during this wonderful and personal time in her life.” How wonderful of them to respect her privacy by releasing a statement about her pregnancy to the whole world, before she’s even confirmed it herself!
And in my opinion, the bump isn’t even that obvious pre-Photoshop. Thoughts?

What do you think about the newly released DKNY Jeans Fall 2009 ads? They were shot by Scott Schuman (The Sartorialist) in his signature street photography style. The Femme Fall line was designed by Hilary Duff. Why? Because every singer is a designer, and every actress is a designer too. It’s that easy, didn’t you know?
I don’t particularly like Hilary’s style, but the campaign does not leave me cringing (except for white pumps with leggings…eek). Maybe it’s the photographs, or the styling by Tabitha Simmons, or maybe it just isn’t bad. Kinda makes me crave Fall clothing now…and the summer hasn’t even started yet! How messed up is that?

One more pic after the jump!
