Buy, Keep, or Toss: Backpack

Trends come and go, which makes getting rid of old things super tough. Take shoulder pads for one, had my mom kept her power suit tops for me, I wouldn’t have had to spend a small fortune updating my wardrobe with Zara/H&M pieces. Same goes for the new trend in bags – backpacks. Had I kept my old one…brown leather and tiny…perhaps I wouldn’t have shelled out for my Chanel one.

Seeing how this new trend is popping up on stylish shoulders of celebs such as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Whitney Port, Rihanna, Daisy Lowe, and Rachel Bilson, among others, and with Stella McCartney designing for LeSportsac, as well as a miriad of designers including backpacks on their Spring and Fall 2010 runways, options are no longer limited to the usual Prada nylon backpacks…there are so many choices available – dressy, sporty, preppy. Yet, still, this trend is definitely not for everyone. What are your thoughts on this one?

Would you buy a backpack, pull an old one out of the closet archives, or would never-ever wear consider wearing one?

H&M Fall 2010 Preview

I am not ready for Fall styles yet. Not ready! Not ready! Not ready! The sun is shining bright…and the temperatures are finally soaring, so why would I want to bundle up? Having said that, I am loving some looks from this H&M Fall 2010 preview. The look above especially! The shorts, the coat, the tights, the boots…so Chloé – so chic! And even though, come fall, I’ll be searching frantically for one of these pieces…at this moment, fall clothes don’t evoke much of an emotion from me…but I thought I’d share this with you anyway…in case you feel differently.

Now back to Spring/Summer!

Wishlist: Camel

Not the animal, silly! The color! More specifically – a camel wool coat. The dynamic duo of The Sartorialist and Garance Doré have been posting photos of camel-clad fashionistas ever since the beginning of Fall 2010 fashion week season, and it looks like the trend (most visible on the catwalk of Céline) is here to stay. So simple, timeless, and chic – makes me kind of wish I hadn’t gifted my camel-colored cashmere  coat to a friend in Houston when I moved to Toronto. Is it in poor taste to ask for it back? Ok, I won’t, but I guess a shopping expedition is in order.
