Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy at The Bay in Toronto!

Rodarte-At-The-Bay-toronto

Did you hear? Designer siblings Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte will be in Toronto on May 23rd for a private party at The Bay’s The Room to celebrate their Fall 2012 collection. But if you’re not lucky enough to be on the super exclusive invite list, don’t fret…rumour has it, the fantastically talented duo will return the next day for a public appearance at The Room at 12:30pm.

Ok, so it’s not a rumour…I actually saw a flyer with my own eyes, but totally forgot to save it – my bad. I’ve since not been able to find it, and I am not sure whether it’s due to the fact that the public appearance has been cancelled, or due to my subpar sleuthing skills…but either way, once more details are confirmed, I will update this post. Stay tuned!

Are you excited to meet Rodarte in person? Share in the comments!

UPDATE: The Room’s Nicholas Mellamphy just confirmed on Twitter that the public event IS HAPPENING!

May 24th, 2012 at 12:30pm
The Bay Queen St (The Room – 3rd floor)
Jeanne Beker will interview the sister duo behind Rodarte!

Be there, or be square, people! Opportunity of a lifetime, right here!

H&M-Fall-2012-Lookbook

As you all know already, I am a major H&M fangirl. Well, imagine my excitement at today’s Fall 2012 preview…and then multiply it by 1000, only then will you get my state of mind today while checking out fall arrivals. Like that bejeweled harness thingamajig, the leather peplum belt, every piece of jewelry in this lookbook, and so much more!

Pineapple Bags, etc.

Bought this H&M Pineapple Bag the other day, and while carrying it home (sans shopping bag), I caught many a-puzzled looks directed at me, or my bag, or the fact that I was also wearing kitty flats, or all of the above. Moral of the story: buying a pineapple bag is the first step to becoming world-famous. So get to it!

What do you think? Would you ever wear one?

Anna Dello Russo x H&M Collaboration Sneak Peek!

anna-dello-russo-hm-2012

Have you heard yet??? Anna Dello Russo is collaborating with my fave fast-fashion retailer H&M! Don’t you just love waking up to good news? Judging from the sneak peek photos - the accessory collection will be full of GOLD, GOLD, and more GOLD! And I honestly love it so much! Available from October 4th, 2012, in around 140 stores worldwide and online, the collection will feature jewelry, sunglasses, shoes, bags and a carry-on “allowing H&M customers uniqueness at an affordable price”.

“I am excited by this collaboration: this is the first time H&M has involved a fashion director in a special project. This is the sign of an important evolution in fashion, and I am both thrilled and humbled to be the one chosen to lead it. I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find. As a stylist, I know accessorization is essential; it is the personal touch in any outfit. With these pieces, everybody can have fun, and turn an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day”, says Anna Dello Russo.

Bloomingdales is Coming to Canada?!

Bloomingdales-HBC-The-Bay-Canada

Just read on my bulding’s elevator news that HBC MAY BE BRINGING BLOOMINGDALES TO CANADA!!! See, elevator ads are actually effective!

But seriously, folks. This is excellent news. The Globe and Mail also confirmed that “The move to provide space to Bloomingdale’s as a “store within a store” would represent a pre-emptive strike on the part of HBC chief executive officer Richard Baker, who is aiming to grab a bigger piece of the high-end fashion retail market before other foreign players arrive, industry sources said.”

At this time, The Bay is considering putting Bloomingdale’s shops within its Toronto store on Bloor Street West as well as inside one store in Vancouver and Calgary, according to G&M. Bloomingdale’s could begin rolling out in-store boutiques in Canada as early as the fall of this year! As in…FALL 2012, people! Bloomies. In. Canada.

This is happening. I think. Are you excited about this? Share in the comments!

Wishlist: Alaia Nude Lace Up Sandals

wishlist-alaia-lace-up

All I want to say to these gorgeous Alaia Nude Lace Up sandals is…come to mama! How perfect would these be for spring/summer? Really effing perfect – that’s how. IF…they weren’t so effing expensive. $1,565? That’s highway robbery if you ask me. ROBBERY! Why are you trying to rob me, Azzedine??? What did I ever do to you???

And yet still…my silly (and impractical) heart just keeps on skipping at the sight of these shoes. What’s wrong with me???

Carine Roitfeld for MAC Cosmetics

MAC-Cosmetics-Carine-Roitfeld-Makeup-Collection-Fall-Winter-2012

Huge news! Former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld is teaming up with MAC Cosmetics to launch a limited edition colour cosmetics line that’s due to land this fall!

Every time I think of Carine, I envision the dark eyeliner, and a smoky eye, which she proudly sports in the first sneak peek of the collection’s ad campaign. I don’t think I’ve been this excited about a MAC collab since Disney’s Venomous Villains collection.

What do you think of Carine + MAC? Are you inspired by her look? Share in the comments.

H&M Fashion Against AIDS 2012 Lookbook

hm-fashion-against-aids-lookbook-2-2012

In less than a week (on April 26th), H&M’s Fashion Against AIDS 2012 collection will hit the stores, and I seriously can’t wait. Full of colorful tribal prints and fun accessories, with a portion of proceeds going towards a very important cause, this collection should be on everyone’s summer must-buy list.

“Safe sex is a message that each new generation needs to hear, which is why H&M is launching its fifth Fashion Against AIDS (FAA) collection, to raise funds and create awareness about HIV/AIDS among the young.”

Do you like this year’s (fifth!) FAA collection? Which pieces are on your wishlist? Share in the comments.

Sometimes all you need is a great pair of shoes. That’s all. No matter how casual the rest of your look is…throw on some amazing shoes, and you’re good to go. That’s what happened last weekend…lazy outfit instantly upgraded by a pair of lovely pumps.

These Stuart Weitzman Capsize pumps are everything I wanted in a spring shoe - perfect pastel pink color, metallic pointy toe, and a sturdy heel. Oh, and they come in “salad green” color too…which I might just have to go out and buy…because, HELLO! They are so pretty!

Diet Coke by Jean Paul Gaultier Ads

jean-paul-gaultier-diet-coke

I don’t know about you, but I adore these cheeky Diet Coke by Jean Paul Gaultier ads! Took me a second to realize what was going on, but after a second look, I couldn’t stop smiling at the silliness of these ads. Gaultier-designed limited edition Diet Coke bottles have got to be my fave since the Missoni print last year, and I love that JPG had a good sense of humour to pose for these ads. Who knew he had such great gams!?

Joseph Altuzarra for J.Crew Sneak Peek

jcrew-altuzarra

To further prove that J.Crew can (practically) do no wrong, here’s a sneak peek of Joseph Altuzarra for J.Crew capsule collection, featuring a few classics (with a twist).

According to Vogue, “for inspiration, the designer turned to Jean Seberg’s Breton stripes in Breathless and Brigitte Bardot walking around St.-Tropez in espadrilles and a slouchy boy’s sweater.”

The collection will hit the stores on April 23rd, and I would love to get my hands on that gingham button-up! What do you think of the pieces so far? Share in the comments.

Style-Off: Libertine for Aldo Rise

aldo-rise-style-off

Welcome to the 2nd installment of Style Blog Style-Off, featuring two of my fave Toronto bloggers – Anita Clarke and Gracie Carroll, rocking the hottest shoe collab (possibly) ever! This week’s Style-Off’s challenge was to style a pair of amazing (and surprisingly comfy) Libertine for Aldo Rise ($155) black and white platform wedges, and though I might be biased here…but I think we did pretty darn great! Funny thing…looks like neon green is definitely having its moment in the spotlight, because we certainly did not plan on matching our accent colors!

As with the last Style-Off, the winner gets the bragging rights, and a free drink. And to up the stakes some more, we’ve decided that all the Style-Off winners will get to go face-off in the final Style-Off challenge a few months later. Sounds good? Choose wisely, and vote for your favorite look below!

Who Gets Your Vote?

  • I adore Gracie's printed vintage dress paired with the striped wedges! (58%, 337 Votes)
  • Nelly's black and white look is simple and works with the shoes. (19%, 114 Votes)
  • Anita's super-mix of Wang, Kane, Laing, and Aldo rocks my socks! (19%, 112 Votes)
  • Not a fan of either one. (2%, 13 Votes)
  • Love all three! (2%, 9 Votes)
