Leap Year sounds just like another cliché romcom. But once I caught a glimpse of the leading man, my interest in seeing it doubled. I first fell in like with Matthew Goode after watching Match Point, where he played a hot tall good-looking guy. Great portrayal indeed! His role in Watchmen did not induce a full-blown crush, only because he was way too skinny and blonde (!). But his appearance in this new movie, am all over it! Tall, dark, and scruffy. My cup of tea times one hundred. It’s been a while since I actually felt the pang of a new celebrity crush…and I think Matthew Goode just changed that.
Ok, so it’s not Jake Sully aka Sam Worthington, it’s Jake Sully – the Na’vi alien. I have a thing for a blue cat-like alien. Don’t judge, he is very hot in the movie. Tall, lanky, muscular, blue…Have you seen Avatar yet?
I love Sasha Pivovarova! Not because she’s Russian like moi, but also because she’s a beautiful model, an artist and so much more! These Holiday ads are so much better because of her radiant smile, no? And the tall, dark, handsome and scruffy male model isn’t too bad either!
When People crowned Johnny Depp as the Sexiest Man Alive (2009), thousands of Twi-hards lost their shit wings…and also sent out their anger in shape of hate-mail to the likes of Lainey Gossip. Did you read her article? Did you read those emails? So much ignorance and hate! And Lainey says that those women are not in their teens…no, those are grown freaking women! For some of those, getting a life might be a tad too late, but seeking help of mental professionals would be just fitting.
On to Johnny. If anyone deserves this title unconditionally, irrevocably, impenetrably, heterogeneously, gynecologically, and disreputably, it’s Johnny Depp. Who else can make a weird eye-lined pirate sexy as hell? Who else oozes sexiness even when he looks grungy and unkempt? Sexiest Man Alive? Johnny Depp! And though a part of me was hoping that Colin Firth would take the title this year, I am perfectly happy with their choice. Thank you, People Mag! Thank you for not giving it to Pattinson!
Unlike some celeb-wannabes whose only claim to fame is extraordinary fertility, Ed Norton is a movie star – a talented actor with great range, and also…a do-gooder! Someone who isn’t just wasting his money and star-power away on expensive cars and young women is so rare nowadays. And that’s one of the reasons I love Ed Norton. Other major reason is…he’s hot in that moody-artsy-sexy way. Definitely would take him over Brad Pitt any day. Pitt is so overrated! Sorry, Jo!
So if you haven’t heard yet, Norton participated in the New York Marathon last weekend, running with three Maasai warriors that he trained with in Africa, in support of the “the preservation of biodiversity within the Maasai tribal lands of East Africa by promoting conservation, education and health services within the Maasai community”. And not only did he finish the 26 mile race, he crossed the finish line in 3 hours, 48 minutes and 1 second! That’s an awesome result (took me 35 minutes to run 5K in the Run for the Cure)! I must admit that part of the reason why I went to watch “Where the Wild Things Are” last weekend was…Mark Ruffalo. And while his time on screen was maybe all of 2 minutes, it still reminded me of how talented and how easy on the eyes he is! There are many other reasons why I adore Ruffalo, including the fact that he’s one of those rare Hollywood anomalies that stays out of scandals and has been happily married to the same woman for many years, he chooses his roles based on characters and not on the budget (except for that horrendous fail with Witherspoon, that shall not be named). He’s funny, cute, and charming. And even if he isn’t too “wild”, looking at his photos somehow makes my week just a little bit better! And I wish the same for you! Happy Wednesday, everyone!
Well, I completely forgot about Wednesday Candy yesterday! I guess this being a short week for Canadians, really did mess up my week a bit. Plus, it just didn’t feel like Wednesday. So today, let’s just pretend that it’s not Thursday, but the day before, ok? Ok!
This week’s Candy is Carlos Ponce. Unless you are a fan of Hispanic musicians, it’s likely that you only know him as the slimy yoga instructor with a hot bod from Couples Retreat. I, on the other hand, have always loved his songs, and was very surprised to see him showing off his comedic chops! I think he was pretty funny in the movie, and his acting didn’t make me cringe the way I cringe when Justin Timberlake acts. So if you are interested, I am sure you can find a few of his songs on iTunes…and believe me, his voice sounds as good as he looks!
When I saw Matthew Morrison singing this song on Glee last week, I fell in love a little. Obviously Kristin Chenoweth can sing…there’s no doubt about that! But Matthew, who is pretty much a Broadway veteran, but fairly unknown elsewhere…he’s a hottie and he can sing! Plus the song is so powerful, it gave me the chills! And apparently, Matthew has a super-duper hot bod under those geeky teacher clothes too! Which is why he gets the honor of being this week’s Wednesday Candy! Yes, the selection process is shallow, but it’s mid-week, I’ll take anything I can get to get through the week!
The cold weather is here, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get out of bed in the morning! And then I see photos of Patrick Dempsey wearing leather! Now imagine how hard it is for his wife to get out of bed in the morning! Ooh la la! Saw new photos of Clive Owen yesterday, and almost made him Wednesday Candy for the second week in a row. And then, I read a Lainey Gossip post about Colin Firth. If you love Colin, these twoarticles are mandatory. You have to read these…you’ll thank me (or Lainey) later. Was not able to watch the clip, in which Colin speaks Italian, but I’m sure it’ll make me drool with adoration.
It’s a bummer that I didn’t get to see him at TIFF this year. He didn’t show to the Dorian Gray premiere, and I missed The Single Man one. The way he wears his suits…it’s like he was made to wear them! The frame, the build – Colin is perfection in suits! And in my books, Colin Firth trumps Tom Ford any day. I’ll take witty over metro every time. What about witty metros, you ask? I prefer my men…manly, thank you very much!
To some it’s Brad Pitt, to others it’s Becks. To me…the embodiment of a perfect man, of a man’s man, of a hot and moody man, to me, that man is Clive Owen. Imagine “Closer” without Clive. Not worth watching, right? It’s his attitude, the way he carries himself, and, of course, it’s his voice. Deep, demanding…sexy as hell. Or maybe it’s his stare, a little bit glaring, but…sexy as hell. You get my point.
Was casually walking in full stalker mode in front of Elgin on Tuesday night at the premiere of “The Boys are Back”. What? Not embarrassed at all. I waited to meet Enrique Iglesias for 8 hours when I was sixteen. EIGHT HOURS (and no, I am still not embarrassed). So hanging out by Elgin Theatre, hoping to catch a glimpse of the sexy beast was nothing. And catch a glimpse I did. Many, many glimpses. I would probably be still standing half-paralyzed in front of the theatre today, if the cops didn’t drag me away kicking and screaming. Ok, maybe they didn’t drag me away, but the stupid volunteer-type chick did put her nonmanicured hand in front of my camera (while I wasn’t even in front of the theatre! isn’t it illegal to ask someone to move away from public property?)! I am not a freaking paparazzo, just a loyal and not at all rowdy (on the outside) fan of the man’s work. What in the freaking hell?! All of my fury aside, I did get a few (blurry) pics and a few good looks at his gorgeous smile (more like a smirk). Great success! In your face, power-tripping-volunteer-chick-standing-in-front-of-the-theatre-wearing-purple-boots!
So to cap this off, today’s Wednesday Candy is Clive Owen. Because he is hot!
To say that last week was eventful would be a gross understatement. A couple of events to cover for the blog, TIFF, NYC Fashion Week, Jo’s bachelorette party, and le boyfriend’s Dragonboat competition. Was it fun? Yes, yes, and yes! But also extremely exhausting…How I survived it? Have no clue. But a Ewan McGregor sighting at the Men Who Stare at Goats TIFF premiere probably helped in making me feel a little better. Yes, he’s short, but that smile is just as cute and captivating as it is in movies. The Clooney? Not my type – never was “gaga” over the most eligible forever-bachelor, but I do get the hype (very, very handsome). Also saw Ben Barnes, much better looking than on screen, great smile, great hair, seemed very nice and down to earth. But the crowd wasn’t there for Ben, they wanted Colin Firth, who was held up in Venice for some reason, at the great displeasure of the many Bridget Jones’ Diary fans (mostly older ladies). I think Colin was supposed to attend Tom Ford’s Single Man premiere, but I’m not sure if he ever did.

This week is a short week. This week is supposed to be nice, quick, and stress-free. It’s only Wednesday, but this week is already slowly (but surely) killing me. Too many things happening all at once and I don’t know how to cope! Ewan McGregor photos from the Venice Film Festival help me cope. Ewan McGregor’s smile, Ray-Bans and the way he wears his pants are three reasons for me not to hate today. Here’s a little Ewan to make your day better too. You are welcome!
Today’s Wednesday Candy is David Gandy! Rhymes with candy! But that’s not why I chose him. The guy is obviously gorgeous, and is a star of D&G Light Blue commercials, which were shot in lovely Capri. Love, love, love the Amalfi Coast! It’s got to be one of the most picturesque and romantic places in Europe! And Mr. Gandy here is making the landscapes even more eye-catching!
