Who Wore it Best: Charlize Theron vs. Anne Hathaway vs. Kerry Washington

When Charlize Theron stepped on the red carpet at the Oscars this year, everyone and their mother seemed to be head over heels in love with her look. But to me, it was yet another case of dress déjà vu…dress-a vu, if you will. Yes, she looked stunning in her white Christian Dior gown, but so did Anne Hathaway at the Golden Globes…and Kerry Washington at the SAG Awards. Of course, Anne’s dress was Chanel Haute Couture, and Kerry’s – Rodarte, but the gist of it (white – check, peplum – check, strapless – check) was all too familiar. And while in my opinion, Charlize really did wear her white gown best, I am not sure if this is Oscars best-dressed worthy.

Independent Spirit Awards 2013: Green with Envy

Even though Indie Spirit Awards are the last award stop before the Oscars, both Kerry Washington and Zoe Saldana brought their A-game to the pink carpet. Kerry in a beautiful Giambattista Valli Couture floral dress, matching shoes, and lovely fresh makeup, looked super radiant. For someone who’s mostly on TV these days, Kerry sure does have a great stylist with access to beautiful clothes. I’ve been loving her red carpet choices lately, and can’t wait to see what she wears this Sunday.

Zoe Saldana also wore green, but instead of floral, she went for a chic wide-striped Dolce & Gabbana dress. And though I would probably add some statement earrings or a necklace to this look, I think those white pumps were a pretty kick-ass accessory.

Style Fille: Adele at the Grammys

In love with Adele’s Valentino dress that she wore to the Grammy Awards this year. Such a beautiful print, and the cut looks really comfy too. Also…looks a little like a carpet, but it might be the reason I love it.

Style Fille: Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child at Super Bowl Halftime Show!

I have to admit, I did not watch the Super Bowl, because I really don’t care about football, but I’m pretty sure everyone and their grandma watched the halftime show, if only to see Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child reunite for the first time in AGES! And of course, to dance their asses off to Bootylicious. Queen Bey herself wore a cropped motorcycle jacket and a bodysuit made with strips of python and iguana, and insets of lace designed by the New York-based designer Rubin Singer. Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams also wore Proenza Schouler booties that I just happen to have…no biggie! The sets were over the top, the hair was tossed, and Destiny’s Child reunited. It was a perfect ending to a lazy Sunday.

SAG Awards 2013: The Good, The Bad, and The Boring

I don’t know if it’s just me, but SAG Awards this year were really short on the wow factor. Too much boring black, ill-fitting gowns galore, and as a result someone I find super annoying is my choice for Best Dressed of the night. What is happening?! Anyway…here’s my Good, Bad, and ~~Ugly~~ Boring line up for the night.

GOOD: Giuliana Rancic

As annoying as I find her, this vibrant blue Max Azria Atelier gown is both simple and simply stunning. I love the unembellished black (navy?) belt, her understated jewellery, and the messy up-do. Good job, Giuliana’s stylist!

Golden Globes 2013: Best Dressed

Last night’s Golden Globes did not disappoint. Don’t you think? I truly loved Amy and Tina hosting the show, but I wish I’d seen ~~a bit~~ a lot more of them during the broadcast. Watching the red carpet broadcast before the show, and live-tweeting it was also a ton of fun for me. Thanks to those of you who participated in the best/worst debates! It made watching the Globes alone in my pjs a lot more social. So on to my personal best dressed list.

There were quite a few celebs last night that wowed me with their picks (or their stylists’ picks). Let’s get started, shall we? First up, we have Kerry Washington in Miu Miu. To me, this was an unexpected and perhaps a bit casual choice, but it felt fresh and interesting, and it wasn’t a mermaid-cut gown, and I loved it. Kerry has really been killing it lately in the style department, and this look is no exception.

Nicole Richie wore a stunning sparkling blue Naeem Khan gown, looking fresh, classy, and so-so-so beautiful! Can you believe that this is the same woman from that reality show starring Paris Hilton? Me neither.

When I saw Katharine McPhee in this amazing Theyskens Theory dress, I gasped. It is everything an LBD should be – sexy, elegant, and stunning. I could do away with those plastic straps on her shoes, but other than that, from her hair and make-up, to her choice of accessories, McPhee is a vision in black.

Golden Globes 2013: Worst Dressed

Amy and Tina hosted Golden Globe Awards this year, and while they brought the funnies, some celebs brought their fashion A-game, while others…not so much. First up is Jessica Chastain in an ill-fitting Calvin Klein dress that looked ok from the back, but was way saggy from the front…and that hair did not help either. This girl is so talented and is in EVERYTHING lately, and she won the Golden Globe for her performance in Zero Dark Thirty, so why wasn’t she given a better option?!

It’s pains me to name Marion Cotillard as one of the worst dressed of the night, but she should know better than to wear a dress with that awful hem! It’s a custom-made Dior gown by Raf Simons, but all I see is Forever 21. I’m sorry, Marion, better luck next time.

Style Fille: Chloë Sevigny

I love Chloë Sevigny. Even in a dirty-looking olive-green faux fur/shearling coat, she’s still magnificent. Let’s be real here…there’s not too many humans out there that can pull off this look, and she’s totally wearing that coat…as opposed to it wearing her. Bravo, Chloë!

I wonder if Chloë will be back for season 3 of American Horror Story? I was really sad to see her character go, but I hope she’ll re-appear next season.
