While the more thorough holiday gift guide is coming very soon, I couldn’t wait to share this pretty little gem with you…actually 12 pretty gems! How adorable are these Estée Lauder zodiac compacts? Not sure about you, but I am pretty into my zodiac sign (Gemini), and I couldn’t resist the lovely packaging of these translucent powder compacts when I first spotted them at The Bay Holidays 2012 preview back in July.
To make this an even better present, why not engrave the name of the person this compact is going to? They will surely treasure (and keep on refilling) this compact for years to come!

I’ve been staring at this photo of Keira Knightley for at least 10 minutes now, and I think I’m in love…with her hair and makeup. Of course, it helps that she looks the way she does, but also, I’m totally into those highlights, layers, red lip, lined eyes…so good! Well done, Allure! Well done!
And though I don’t have Keira’s stunning face, I am still loving my new shorter do, which was originally cut by the uber-talented Alain Larivee of John Frieda during TIFF, and then most recently by Fouad at the Tony Chaar Salon. I went from “past the boob” hair to “past the chin” cut, and I have never loved it more. There’s something really kick-ass about having shorter hair, and it feels really good, and fun, and free. It was almost as if I got a boost of confidence the moment my long locks hit the floor.

Beautylicious in Yorkville
October 25 – November 4th, 2012
It’s that time of the year again! Fourth annual Beautylicious event begins this week in Yorkville. And if you’d like to get a great deal from one of the top salons, spas, or wellness studios, now’s your chance!
Some of my favorites are taking part in this event this year…salons like Greg May Hair, Caja Studio, and Tony Chaar Salon are offering major discounts on their services, while great spas like The Spa at the Windsor Arms Hotel, and Stillwater have some sweet deals too.
Next week, I’m planning to take advantage of the discounts, and give my hair some much-needed TLC, and Beautylicious makes it that much easier (and cheaper).
Are you going to participate this year? Which services are you most interested in? Share in the comments.

Toronto Fashion Week is here, and our city is buzzing with excitement of SS13 collections, street style photographers on the prowl, and media, bloggers, and industry folks flooding the tents on King Street. And since I wasn’t able to hit the shops last weekend to pick up a few things to wear this week, I checked out eLUXE’s wide assortment of Canadian-designed pieces instead!
From a roomy bag, to a statement blazer, to oh-so-necessary eye cream, it has never been easier to add a few Canadian pieces to your wardrobe (and beauty cabinet too!). And with special MasterCard Stylicity eLUXE deal ($25 credit when you spend $75 or more, $25 off purchase of $75 or more), the timing couldn’t be more perfect. So take advantage while you can!

Toronto is about to get a lot more fashionable with not one, but two weeks of Canadian designers showcasing their Spring 2013 collections at The ShOws, The Collections, and the World Master Card Fashion Week…one after the other…non-stop. That’s A LOT of fashion, and A LOT of running around. So, if you need some tips for a seamless fashion week experience, here are a few simple pointers to keep in mind.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and to raise funds for this important cause, The Bay will be hosting the beautiful Elizabeth Hurley, spokesmodel for The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign today, October 3rd at The Bay store on Queen St in Toronto. Accompanied by Estée Lauder’s grandson William Lauder, Elizabeth Hurley stopped by The Room at The Bay to kick off her visit to Toronto yesterday, and I got to hear first-hand just how passionate Hurley is about the cause.
To show its support, The Bay is launching an exclusive, limited-edition tote to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and this month, the tote will be sold for $20 with a purchase of any fragrance or cosmetics, with $5 from every bag sold benefitting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Additionally, customers who purchase Pink Ribbon products from Estée Lauder, Clinique, Donna Karan Fragrances or Origins will get to meet Elizabeth and have their Pink Ribbon products signed, including The Evelyn Lauder and Elizabeth Hurley Dream Lip Collection, along with The Bay’s limited-edition tote.
If this sounds good, make sure to stop by The Bay today at 12pm, and support this wonderful cause!

Last week, I attended the soft-opening of the new and stunning Miraj Hammam Spa by Caudalie, located inside Toronto’s newest luxury hotel, the Shangri-La. I’ve been a faithful Caudalie fan for a while now, but I have never experienced the magic of hammam before, and was really excited to give it a try. And boy, was I in for a treat!
A mix of Old World hammam culture and modern sensibility, the traditional treatments on offer, according to Miraj owner Surinder Bains, are “detoxification in the highest form”. And it truly felt that way.
As a hammam newbie, I was recommended the Hammam & Gommage treatment, which consists of two parts: hammam (steam treatment to detox your body) and gommage (full body exfoliating scrub). For the hammam portion of the treatment, I was ushered into my own private hammam, where I was asked to disrobe (disposable undergarments and sarong are provided, if you are shy), and after a hot water rinse, I got to lie down on warm Jerusalem gold marble for about 15 minutes, while the room filled up with steam. In those 15 minutes, I could actually feel my body unwind, with pores opening up, and sweat pouring out. It was a deeply relaxing experience, just me and my body surrounded by warm, welcoming steam. It felt glorious.
