Style Fille: Cate (The Great) Blanchett Does it Again!

Even though we’re in the middle of TIFF madness, I wanted to post this amazing Christian Dior dress Cate Blanchett wore at the Deauville Film Festival. It is just so stunning! Cate always manages to look polished and regal no matter what she wears, but she also doesn’t stick to just one silhouette/look and ride its coattails. *cough* Jennifer Aniston *cough*

Regardless of whether you think this looks flattering or not, I would take this “tent” dress over a million LBDs. Just me?

Wow she looks amazing! Not many women could wear this tent dress and look so great.

First, let me congratulate you Torontonians for your amazing trendiness-leading this year! My Canadian friend of many years, when I mentioned your blog and all of the press that Toronto has gotten as “the place to visit”, said “Of course!” And then she told me that she was born in Toronto! LOL!

Second, that IS an amazing piece…but I never thought I’d see Kate, with her glam and electric self, get swallowed up in anything. Perhaps it’s one of those “had to have been there” moments – as in, it drapes better than the pictures imply. But then, I am not a fan of tent clothing – drapey, loose pieces…yeees, with caution: generally all-over larger women look stunning in such shapes, I think. (Jesse Norman, the opera singer, wore a costume in a Stravinsky opera presentation at the Met that was all blue-and-white wavy material. She was spectacular!) I usually like clothes to enhance one’s natural look.
