Danier Leather Fall 2011 Preview

Last week, I went to check out Danier’s Fall 2011 preview, and walked away a drooling mess. There are just too many items that I covet come August/September, and unfortunately, not enough funds to buy them all!

For Fall 2011, Danier will be one of the hottest stores around, with amazing Canadian collaborations such as Greta Constantine Skin, Object by George Antonopoulos, and Mark Fast for Danier. But even the regular in-house collections are full of gorgeous, modern pieces…seemingly (style) miles away from the more blah Danier collections of, say, 5 years ago.

There’s lace + leather, knit + leather, lots of hot leather LBDs (that I would totally rock at work), amazing jackets (like the one below…swoon), and so much more, that I couldn’t help but get just a little excited about fall. Although my wallet is less than thrilled.

What do you think about Danier’s Fall 2011 collection? Will you stop by to check it out? Let me know in the comments.

Stay tuned for more photos from the amazing Canadian collaborations that will be available at Danier for Fall 2011.

Rita Liefhebber SS 2011 Trunk Show at Rac Boutique

When Rita Liefhebber styled our Yorkdale is Me  photoshoot back in 2010, I found out that this model-turned-stylist was also an amazing designer as well. Talk about multitasking! Well, this week, I attended her S/S 2011 trunk show at Yorkville’s Rac Boutique, and I just could not walk away empty handed. A small, but versatile collection of hand-dyed, hand-knit, hand-stitched tanks, silk tops, maxi dresses, gorgeous scarves, and sexy basics was simply perfect for any contemporary fashion loving city girl. I love that Rita’s designs don’t scream sexy, they whisper it. Rac owners Glenna and Faith, obviously just as excited about Liefhebber’s designs, will also carry her Fall 2011 collection come September.

After much speculating, I picked up a grey and black hand-dyed silk tank top, that I decided was perfect for my top-lacking wardrobe. My very first Rita Liefhebber piece…but definitely not last! Next time you find yourself in Yorkville, make sure to stop by Rac Boutique and peruse Rita’s lovely collection. You won’t regret it!

Style Blog on Breakfast Television!

Remember that time I signed up with the Ben Barry Agency? Well, here’s my very first job as an official model! Woo-hoo! Thanks to the talented stylist, and blogger extraordinaire, Julia Seidl of Stylehog, I got to strut my stuff and rock some cool summer clothes on Breakfast Television this morning along with some really gorgeous models! Outfits were provided by the Dixie Outlet Mall, and were under $150 for each (entire) outfit! Amazing, no?! Still reeling from all the excitement.

Can you spot me, hiding behind some huge sunnies in my 70s-inspired look? Now that I got my toes wet, so to speak, I can’t wait to do it all over again! Anyone looking for models?

Lenscrafters RxHIBITION Event with Mena Suvari

Did you know that only 11% of the glass-wearing population actually get prescription for their sunglasses? Not a presription wearer myself, I can’t imagine spending a hot summer day sunglass-less, squinting and not protecting those peepers from the harmful UV rays. Well, Lenscrafters has a perfect solution for you, squinty eyed person with vision problems. Their RxHIBITION program allows you to replace the lenses of your Lenscrafters sunglasses with prescription ones, quickly and efficiently. You should also know, that if you buy eyewear from Lenscrafters, on top of lovely service and great selection, you will also be getting a 90-day unconditional guarantee, one-hour service, and free adjustments and cleanings for those brand new (sun)glasses of yours! Sounds like a damn good deal to me.

Lenscrafters  carries a vast variety of brands for every personality out there: D&G, Burberry, Ray Ban (my faves), DKNY, Tory Burch, and many more. You can even take an online quiz, just like the attendees of the RxHIBITION event did, to determine which eyeglass frame personality type you are. I, myself, was deemed a Style Maven (ha!), though I usually tend to gravitate towards the Classic Wayfarer look more often than not. Either way, the quiz is quick and fun, and helpful, especially if you are cripplingly indecisive.

The event’s gorgeous hostess - actress Mena Suvari - attended last week’s event, sharing that she’s a longtime fan of Lenscrafters, and prefers the classic shades like Ray Ban, herself. And though Mena had lasik eye surgery to fix her vision problems, she still rocks her fave Lenscrafters sunglasses all year long.

So tell me, do you use prescription sunglasses? I’d love to hear your stories!

What I Wore: The Cat’s Pajamas

Lately, I’ve been straight up obsessed with pajama pants. Ok, maybe not actual pajama pants, but pants that strongly resemble the said loungewear piece. What’s not to love? They are comfy, breezy, and super cool (at least in my mind)…le boyfriend has his own opinion on this one.

This pair is from Zara, and I love how it billows in the wind, creating almost a maxi-skirt-like effect. Breezy, I’m telling you!

So what’s your take? Should pajama-looking pants stay indoors? Let me know in the comments!

I Wore: Top, Pants, Shoes – Zara; Bag – c/o Ecco; Bracelet – Urban Outfitters; Sunglasses – Ray Ban (c/o Lenscrafters)

Swarovski Wings of Fantasy Fall 2011 Collection Preview

Swarovski previews are always a sight to behold – shiny baubles, pretty crystals – what’s not to love? A couple of weeks ago, I got to check out their Wings of Fantasy Fall 2011 collection, and as always, I left in awe.

As a lover of all things quirky (ahem, lips, hearts, etc)…my faves were definitely the whimsical pieces from the Polly collection, the Erika and Eliot snowglobe necklaces, and my favoritest (I know it’s not a real word, but I like it) piece from the entire preview – the below faberge-inspired Precious egg pendant that opens up to reveal a blue bird safely tucked away inside.

But if whimsy is not your thing, there were plenty of stunningly sophisticated pieces to fulfill just about anybody’s bling dreams. So tell me, come August, what will you be buying?

Lise Watier Bora Bora Collection

Last month, the gorgeous ladies of Lise Watier showcased their summer collection, named Bora Bora, inspired by the gorgeous tropical paradise. We got to play with some beautiful colors for eyes and lips, and some yummy-smelling perfume to boot. And though there were so many amazing goodies to play with, here are a few of my personal favorites:

Bora Bora Eyeshadow Palette ($38): I absolutely loved this palette in exotic hues of pearly shell white, mouth-watering papaya, jungle green, golden sand and passionate purple. This eyeshadow’s creamy texture allows it to go on smoothly, without caking up your eyelids. I also loved how intense the color got after a few swipes.

Duo Shadow & Glitter ($25): Perfect for a steamy night out on the town in colors like Golden Wasabi and Blue Ray, this is not your high-school glitter. Shimmery and sophisticated, I’ll be rocking it all summer long!

Lip Kiss Crayon Gloss ($18): My absolute favorite of the entire collection was the Mango Punch lip crayon.  Lightweight, high-shine, high-moisture, and super easy to apply! I’ll definitely be stocking up in case this shade is truly seasonal.

Bora Bora Eau de Toilette Spray ($50): A lovely, tropical scent, reminiscent of island vacays, sandy beaches, and fruity cocktails - it’s a perfectly light summer fragrance. “Blending the sensual, feminine notes of passion flower, jasmine and rose with the warmth of an exotic fruit cocktail and the sweet, hot traces of amber, vanilla and wood-scented musk, Bora Bora Eau de Toilette is your passport to the exotic.”

Have you tried Lise Watier’s Bora Bora collection yet? If so, what are your faves? Share in the comments.

What I Wore: Like Dandelion Dust

Can someone please tell me why dandelions are considered a weed, and carnations are still called a flower? I really don’t get it. Personally, I am a huge dandelion fan. Seeing those fuzzy-looking yellow flowers popping up all around the city is a clear sign that summer is on its way, and sunny days are ahead. This year, I’ve been extra sun-deprived (exhibit one: see my corpse-colored legs above…no photo-editing was performed…they really are that grey), so I’m thinking that I’ll have to resort to self-tanners.

Any good ones out there that won’t turn me into a Snooki lookalike? Something drastic must be done to take care of this grey skin situation. Some girl on the subway actually gave my legs a disgusted look…though it might’ve been directed at the suspicious looking puddle on the floor…but I think it was my legs. So…any advice, short of hiding in a basement until winter rolls around again? Help!

I Wore: Skirt, Blazer, Belt – H&M; Top – Forever21; Shoes – Aldo; Bag – c/o Ecco; Sunglasses – Ray Ban (c/o Lenscrafters); Earrings - Chanel

Greta Constantine x Danier SKIN Collection

Earlier this week, Canadian designers Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong of Greta Constantine previewed their brand new collab with Danier called SKIN. The drool-worthy capsule collection, consisting of jackets, dresses, belts, vests, and one kick-ass sleeveless bolero will be available sometime in August, and until then, you should start saving up - prices will run from $399 to $999.

My favorite piece from the collection and also the least expensive of the bunch (lucky for my wallet) was the bolero ($399) with an exaggerated lapel in grey suede – a perfect piece to inject some cool into one’s wardrobe. The buttery soft leather shift dresses in grey, black, and red ($499) were also calling my name, as I was watching people try them on all around me.

The mannequins on display were artfully styled in both Greta Constantine Primer and SKIN pieces - Primer being the lower-priced “basics” collection…that is anything but basic. The signature Greta draped silhouettes were present in heather grey soft jersey maxi dresses, putting at least one of them firmly on my must-buy list.

What do you think about Greta Constantine SKIN collection? Are you going to check it out come August? Share in the comments.

Greta Constantine Primer collection is now available at TNT stores, while Greta Constantine x Danier Leather SKIN collection will be available in August at 20 Danier stores nationwide, and online.
