Rewind

January 2010: My friend Jen marries Joe in Houston, TX. Le boyfriend and I attend. Delta loses our luggage, and are extremely unhelpful. All-new outfits are bought at the last minute.

February 2010: Photoshoot with renowned fashion photographer Chris Nicholls! Feeling unbelievably lucky.

Also, a Valentine’s Day trip to Cuba with le boyfriend. Great times in Varadero and Havana.

March 2010: H&M Garden Collection launches. The red rosette dress is finally mine!

April 2010: Surprise birthday trip to Las Vegas for le boyfriend. A first for both of us. Chanel on every corner, like Starbucks. Never want to leave.

Also, my first-ever nephew is born! Not allowed to share his photo until he is 1. But trust me when I say that he’s the best-looking baby in the world!

May 2010: My Yorkdale billboard is up at Yonge and Sheppard. Cannot believe my luck.

June 2010: Another first – birthday trip to Quebec City. Good food, great company, Blanche de Chambly.

July and August 2010: Summer, Taste of the Danforth, Shoes, Love, Beach, Patios, Brunch, The Ex…

September 2010: Florence with le boyfriend for the very first time. Love at first sight.

Also, my first visit to Space in Montevarchi…which is an experience I’ll never forget. Fantastic selection of Prada and Miu Miu at outlet prices.

A lovely trip to Venice. Sweet and short…and amazing. Also, Rome, Milan, and Lugano.

October 2010: God Save The Queen Gala at The Bay. Met Erdem Moralioglu, Charlotte Olympia, Nicholas Kirkwood, Tommy Ton…unbe-freaking-lievable!

November 2010: Lanvin for H&M launches. Got the dresses I wanted. Hooray!

December 2010: My beloved grandfather is gone. Life will never be the same again.

What I Wore: Vestervention

I’ve been a little obsessed with this faux fur vest lately. I wear it to work, out with friends, on dates, and to go shopping. This has become the go-to piece (the one that seemingly goes with everything) in my closet. I am not sure whether it was an amazing buy, or whether I’ll need a vest intervention soon. In the meantime, I am wearing it with anything and everything. And I’ll have more photos to prove it…soon.

I Wore: Dress – Forever21; Vest – Winners; Tights – H&M; Shoes – Nine West; Belt – Moschino via The Room; Bag - Longchamp

From Santa With Love

So, after months of waiting, Christmas has come and gone. And apart from the extra pounds gained from eating turkey  roast beef, various mayo-based salads, deviled eggs, prosciutto wrapped breadsticks, sfoglia, tiramisu, and a ton of chocolates…all that’s left are the presents…not that I’m complaining.

And though DVDs are certainly an amazing gift for Christmas, seeing how I’ve been watching How I Met Your Mother non-stop for hours now, my top three gifts this year were:

1. Ghost Chair (from Kitchen Stuff Plus)
2. YSL turquoise ring from (from Saks)
3. Chanel chain necklace/belt (from Chanel)

Granted, I loved everything else Santa brought me this year, but these certainly made me jump with excitement! Did you get everything you hoped for from Santa this Christmas? Or did you get everything you wanted during Boxing Day sales?

Rimmel London Spring 2011

A few weeks ago, I was invited to check out Rimmel London’s Spring 2010 collection at the Windsor Arms Hotel. As it turned out, the presentation was one of the most creative previews I’ve ever attended.

Attendees were given a tour of the three rooms at the hotel, each inspired by a Brit celebrity: Kate Middleton, Kate Moss, and Peaches Geldof. Each celebrity (and room) represented a certain part of the collection showcased. Future Mrs. Prince William was all about a clean fresh look – a no-makeup-makeup, featuring Match Perfection Concealer.  Kate Moss’ room was littered with Coke cans (tee-hee), rock star tees, and glam eye makeup. And Peaches was all about glossy lips.

It was great to see such a creative collection preview, and having models, representing a celebrity in each room, wearing the makeup made it that much cooler!

At the end of the tour, I was given a box of goodies to try at home. And ever since then, I’ve been addicted to Rimmel’s concealer! It’s so light (the complete opposite of cakey), and yet it still manages to cover all of my blemishes. The eyeshadow palettes were also pretty amazing! The color stays on all day and all through the evening, with vivid pigments in each palette. I also really REALLY like the fact that they are nice and soft, and very easy to glide on.

And last, but definitely not least, the Lash Accelerator Mascara, which I included in my Christmas gift guide, is truly fantastic, especially considering the price! Not only a mascara, but a lash treatment that helps lashes grow longer and stronger. It takes a while to dry, but once it’s on, it really makes your eyes pop!

If you haven’t tried Rimmel in a while, I think you should give them a chance…the quality of their products definitely made me reconsider drugstore brands.

What about you? Where do you usually buy your makeup? Let me know in the comments, and I might send a little something from Rimmel your way!

Wishlist: nOir Natasha Ring

Things you might not know about me yet:

1. I like cute things
2. I like things that remind me of my heritage
3. I like things that are bright and colorful

This nOir Natasha ring is all of those things combined! With an additional bonus of a removable top doll! Didn’t you ever have one of those ballerina dolls hiding in a flower? And when you wind it up, the flower opens up to reveal a dancing ballerina? I used to love things like that – a thing concealing an even cuter thing. Combine it all, and you’ll understand why I am going nuts over this ring. But then again, that $225 can be spent so many ways on so many other more important “things”…and do I really need another costume jewelry piece in my ever-expanding closet?

I can go on and on in circles forever…the question, however, remains…to buy or not to buy?

What I Wore: Baby, It’s Cold Outside

My winter uniform usually consists of a comfy sweater, leggings, and my TNA parka from Aritzia – which lasted me 5 years already, keeping me cozy and warm through the coolest of days. But 5 years later, it’s definitely showing some signs of wear and tear, and I’m thinking of buying another one. But probably not until next year.

What gets you through the winter? Do you have a winter uniform? I’d love to hear your suggestions on a winter jacket that is warm and not too puffy. I do love my TNA one, but maybe there’s something more fun out there. Let me know if you have any ideas.

I Wore: Tank Top – Forever21; Sweater, Circle Scarf - H&M; Leggings – Durumi at the Burroughes; Boots – Aldo; Jacket – TNA; Bag – Prada

Style Fille: Gwyneth Paltrow

I know many of you will find this dress tasteless, too revealing, and beneath the usually elegant Gwyneth Paltrow. But to me, this outfit is perfect on so many levels…from the amazing shoes, to the simplicity of the dress itself, to her lovely hair – it all makes me wish I could pull off something like this. Alas, we aren’t all fitness fanatics, as Miss Goop is, and wearing something so unforgiving would be a terrible disaster for some of us…but to me, on Gwyneth, this Emilio Pucci dress kicks ass!

What do you think? Take the poll below.
