Jill Stuart SS2010 Ads

How awesome are these Jill Stuart SS2010 ads!? I seriously need to start kicking butt at the gym in order to fit into the black dress above! I need one in my life! Love the embellishments and the colors (or the lack of). So simple, yet so chic. Less is so much more!

Foodie: Jules Bistro Cafe

Jules Bistro Cafe
147 Spadina Ave, Unit 109
Toronto
416-348-8886

Jules Bistro Cafe might be one of the reasons that I love Toronto. Just a skip and a hop away from the likes of Milestones and Jack Astors, a Parisian Cafe setting awaits you, complete with authentic French offerings and rugged wooden tables.

After hearing good things about this small resto, le boyfriend and I skipped our usuals in favor of something different. The decor in itself was reason enough for me to check it out. Exposed brick, chandeliers, and intimate lighting were all quite enticing and created a lovely atmosphere.

The food, while not groundbreaking, was still very tasty. Both his steak and my sandwich could be served with frites or salad. My health-conscious self had a tough time deciding between the goodness badness of some oily fries and vitamin-packed salad. Decisions, decisions. Well, our server had solved my dilemma by suggesting I have both, only 1/2 salad and 1/2 frites…get this…at no extra charge! And while I was expecting a tiny portion of salad, accompanied by a tiny portion of fries, instead I got a heap of both. If that’s not amazing, I don’t know what is.

We didn’t have enough time for the desert, but the items on the menu sounded delicious, and I was left wondering if I should’ve tried one of their tartes or crepes. Coupled with a chic French-inspired decor, lovely music, and fantastic service, there’s no doubt about it – I’ll be back!

Friday Faux Pas: Snuggie Wannabes

The unlikely success story of Snuggie seems to have encouraged an army of doppelgangers. Take this Snuggle Suit from JC Penney for example. It’s a robe, a blanket, and pjs all in one! And if you ever catch me wearing one of these, I give you permission to smack me! But if you think this was bad, feast your eyes on this wonderful Japanese creation! It’s a sleeping bag with pants! I repeat, a sleeping bag with pants!!!

Who buys this stuff?

What I’m Wearing: Houston, TX

I’ve only been gone 4 days, but it feels like forever! That’s what being in Texas does to a girl. Some of you might know that I’ve spent a few of my college years in Houston, and out of those 4 or so years came a lot of friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime. Well, last weekend one of my dearest friends, Jen, got married to the love of her life Joe. And to celebrate that wonderful occasion, le boyfriend and I flew to Texas! Unfortunately for us, no carry-ons were allowed on flights from Canada to the US at the time, and perhaps due to my horrendous “luck” with baggage, ours was lost somewhere in Atlanta, which meant almost 3 days (out of 4), including the wedding, without our clothes. Rock and roll, right?

Well, after much stress and frustration, we went shopping and I finally was able to find these hot Aldo cage sandals in my size and on sale! I also bought a tweed Zara blazer, a one-shoulder Zara dress, and a few other items that I’ll be posting about later on. These pics were taken on our last day in Houston, after we’ve received our luggage. So it’s really a mix of what I brought with me with the items I had to buy out of necessity.

Note that the weather is…beautiful! This was taken on January 11th! While it was frigid and snowy in Toronto, le boyfriend and I frolicked in the sunshine, not wearing much clothes at all! And all those Texans still complained about the cold! Had I never moved to Canada, perhaps I wouldn’t appreciate those sunny days either…But I did move, and I did appreciate. Sunny days, delicious food, Southern hospitality, even if you only have one pair of underwear…what can be better?

I’m Wearing: Shoes, Bracelet - Aldo; Blazer – Zara; Top – Jacob; Pants – Forever21; Sunglasses – Ray Ban; Earrings – Chanel; Purse – Marc Jacobs

Style Fille: Kim Kardashian

Ok, I never thought this day would come, but today’s Style Fille is Kim Kardashian! Sure, the girl is drop dead gorgeous (even if she’s famous for nothing but smut). But I really dig her striped tank dress, paired with a cool fringe necklace! As a self-proclaimed stripe addict, I already own a similar dress (alas with long sleeves). Will have to dust it off and wear it soon! Forgot how awesome and fresh stripes can look!

2010 People’s Choice Awards – Best Dressed

I didn’t want to make this just another Diane Kruger post, so here are my picks for Best Dressed at 2010 People’s Choice Awards. The Awards themselves don’t really matter, but the outfits are always fun to look at! I want Diane’s dress, and Sandra’s gorgeous hair! Katie Cassidy’s dress is open to interpretation, but I think I like it. Which one is your favorite?

I Want it All…and I Want it Now!

After the initial look at the H&M Spring 2010 lookbook, I wasn’t exactly dying to go shopping – too many pastels for my taste. But this Garden Collection, ohh la la! The red dress. My goodness. It’s gorgessity, no? I love it sooo much! If any of you see it in stores, please drop me a line…because this is the dress I’ll be stalking until I get my hands on it! My closet is crying for it! Apart from the red-hot dress, there is a ton of other dresses and tops that are just too beautiful to pass up. And as if that wasn’t enough, you should also know that the Garden Collection is made using organic and recycled materials! Beautiful and mindful of the environment? Sold!

More after the jump!

Marc Jacobs Weds Lorenzo Martone?

Congratulations are in order for Marc Jacobs and Lorenzo Martone, who, according to The Cut, got married in St Barts this week!  Such a low-key wedding for Jacobs comes as a surprise. For some reason, I expected a more lavish ceremony from those two. Either way the newlyweds look so relaxed and happy, and the cake topper is super cute! Mazel tov!

Update: The designer did not tie the knot, according to his rep. Perhaps it was some sort of a rehearsal or a decoy? Or was it? I’m sure the internet will be abuzz with “did he or didn’t he” questions for a while. Will keep you posted!

The First Faux Pas of 2010

Lunch hour browsing at the local Forever 21 had led to an amazing discovery! Further proof of The Hilton family’s “fountain of talent”. These tees were designed by Paris and Nicky, and wouldn’t you just pay thousands of dollars for each one? I mean, I am sure Van Gogh and Da Vinci would cry sweet tears of joy had they ever been able to witness one of these…works of art!

Couldn’t they ask people that actually matter to design these charity tees? Someone with actual talent? Instead, F21 people decided to shoot the charity in the leg. Who wants to be associated with Paris Hilton, or wear her toddler-doodled designs? Though the sad, sad thing is…someone somewhere will want to spend money on this crap, because good taste is dead. Happy 2010!

The Last Faux Pas of 2009

2009 is officially over! But not before JLo could squeeze into the last faux pas of the year! Human hair jacket? Check. Sheer-ish crystal-adorned bodysuit? Check. Camel toe? Check. Making news all over the world for your god-awful NYE outfit? Priceless.
