Sophie Theallet! The French designer, mainly known in North America for dressing the first lady Michelle Obama, won the $200,000 CFDA/Vogue Fund award last night. The award also includes a year of mentoring from a veteran in the industry to help her fund and develop her future collections. Alexander Wang, who won last year’s award did quite well in the industry, so here’s hoping that the talented Sophie will also enjoy the same success. And with such an influential supporter of her work as Michelle O, looks like Theallet is well on her way!
