The cold weather is here, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get out of bed in the morning! And then I see photos of Patrick Dempsey wearing leather! Now imagine how hard it is for his wife to get out of bed in the morning! Ooh la la! Sorry for the apparent laziness as of late, a couple of Foodie posts are coming soon, as well as a post about cool new underwear that might just change your man’s life (or at the very least make it more comfortable)! Hope you’re having a great Wednesday, everyone!

Speaking of cool movies, are you going to watch Coco Avant Chanel (starring Audrey Tautou) this weekend? The movie opens in Canada October 2nd and is a love story as well as a peek into the origins of one of the most famous women in fashion! Perfect for a girls’ night out!

I don’t know about you, guys, but I am super excited about the “Where the Wild Things Are” movie! The trailer looks enchanting, and I bet I’d feel like a little girl watching it! What’s more amazing, is that the folks at Opening Ceremony in collaboration with Spike Jonze, created a limited collection that was inspired by the Maurice Sendak’s already classic book. When I first heard about it, I really doubted the wearability of the items, but now that I am able to actually see the pieces, all doubts are gone! Just look at those faux fur jackets! Super cute, super wearable, and definitely in the spirit of the Wild Things!

More wildness after the jump!

Last week, my girls and I attended Flare Mag’s 30th anniversary party thrown by H&M. With wine and martinis free-flowing, hors d’oeuvres passed around, fashionable people at every corner, and a 20% discount on everything in the store…the party was guaranteed to be a success! The best-selling Canadian fashion magazine’s birthday party drew in a pretty large crowd, with people lining up to get in, and the lineups for the fitting rooms…well, let’s just say I didn’t get to try anything on. The first 200 shoppers also received H&M/Flare gift bags (H&M magazine, Flare magazine, and a piece of jewelry from H&M).
All in all, we had a great time; got to meet a few cool people and reconnect with old acquaintances. Jo and Al both put the discount to good use, and bought a few things. Alcohol coupled with music and slashed prices? Is there a better way to shop? I think not!
We didn’t stick around for the “special fashion presentation”, so if any of you attended it, let me know how that went!

It’s raining Fashion Weeks everywhere and I love it! Today I give you my faves from Milan’s Spring 2010 shows. My personal favorite so far is D&G! I think it’s all the camel-colored leather and denim shirts. The denim shirt tucked into the jeans look sort of reminds me of the JLo look from 2001. Remember the denim jumpsuits? I had one…looked so hot if I may so myself! Well, the Western look and Mickey Mouse tees are nothing new, but it works and I love it!
Overall, was not very impressed with Prada this time around, not coveting anything at all. The mod legginess of Versace, on the other hand…yes, please! Love the colorful raggedy dress from Moschino and shredded sweaters from Just Cavalli (much more appropriate for fall than spring, no?). Speaking of Cavalli, even “Bobby” had plenty of nude colors on the runway this time around. Time to invest in a light beige dress perhaps?

The summer is gone and done with…officially. And while it makes me super sad to know that fall is here, one thing about the end of summer is actually quite comforting – no more Croc sightings! This summer, I saw so many of them, that I thought my eyes were going to pack up and move to Paris, where noone wears that ugliness (or at least I haven’t seen any). So in honor of the beginning of fall (and lots of lovely fall footwear), this Friday’s Faux Pas is Crocs…and a Crocs Store…And just in case you thought that no such thing exists…it does! It’s a store full of Crocs…everywhere…just Crocs…….good taste is so dead.

Seems like everywhere you look, nude is in for spring! Here’s a few of my fave looks from the runways of London Fashion Week. It’s not even winter yet, and I am already looking forward to spring. Fashion, don’t you just love it?

Saw new photos of Clive Owen yesterday, and almost made him Wednesday Candy for the second week in a row. And then, I read a Lainey Gossip post about Colin Firth. If you love Colin, these two articles are mandatory. You have to read these…you’ll thank me (or Lainey) later. Was not able to watch the clip, in which Colin speaks Italian, but I’m sure it’ll make me drool with adoration.
It’s a bummer that I didn’t get to see him at TIFF this year. He didn’t show to the Dorian Gray premiere, and I missed The Single Man one. The way he wears his suits…it’s like he was made to wear them! The frame, the build – Colin is perfection in suits! And in my books, Colin Firth trumps Tom Ford any day. I’ll take witty over metro every time. What about witty metros, you ask? I prefer my men…manly, thank you very much!

Don’t you just love it? Anna Wintour gives the best bitchface ever! She seems to absolutely abhor the seating arrangements at the Twenty8Twelve fashion show in London. Obviously, those two youngsters are not worthy of sharing the same air as La Wintour. And her body language??? She should just hold her nose and this picture would be perfect! Some girls have all the luck!

Who knew that the director of “Agora” is such a fox? Perhaps, I should’ve saved this post for the Wednesday Candy section, but I just couldn’t wait! Amenabar is featured in ELLE Spain’s October issue, recreating various classic movie scenes and looking good while doing it. I love me some Casablanca and Breakfast at Tiffany’s! And it really saddens me that the new generation is growing up on such “style icons” as Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears. What about Audrey Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman? Would the kids of tomorrow even know who “Bogey” is?

London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 is well underway, and there’s already controversy! Both casting director and stylist, Erika Kurihara (also a fashion editor of i-D) quit (or were let go?) after London-based Canadian knitwear designer Mark Fast had decided to use three plus-size models in his show. While Kurihara is known to support diversity on the runway, she did not think that size 12 girls had the “right walk for the show” and shot back at Fast claiming that the designer “had failed to embrace diversity by introducing the larger models because they were all white”. Fast stuck to his guns, and the girls (Haley Morley, Lauren Catterall, and Gwyenth Harrison) worked the runway.
And while, I applaud Fast for supporting size diversity, it seems quite clear to me that his decision to use those models was indeed a bit last-minute. The clothes worn by the girls did not fit them as well, as one would’ve hoped, and neither did the undergarments that they wore, which seemed more suited…well, for the smaller size models. If Fast wanted to show off the beauty of “bigger” girls, he could’ve altered the clothes to fit the models better and gotten the right size underwear for them. Because in this kind of situations, on the runway of all places, size and fit do matter! Especially so, if you are trying to showcase the beauty of all sizes and shapes.
What do you think about this latest controversy at London Fashion Week? Last minute PR or history changing event?

Love H&M so much!!! Was looking everywhere for a light-blue denim button up! Zara had a few, but they just didn’t fit right. This one fits well, and I love the color of the denim and the pearly snap buttons! Got it only a few weeks ago, and already wore it half-to-death. And I guess the true test of whether you really “need” an item is if you can wear it with a million things and don’t ever (or for a few weeks) want to take it off.

First off, we have Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie in this green vintage-looking mini dress, looking…tired, with funny-weird hairdo going on. Hopefully, that’s before hair and makeup. On the positive side…her shoes are H.O.T. Ahh…to have the shoe wardrobe of Carrie Bradshaw = A Dream!
Anyway, moving on to Samantha. Samantha is wearing…something quite unusual…for Samantha Jones. It’s a major plot spoiler, so make sure that you want to know before you click! Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you!
SATC2 SPOILER after the jump!
